It’s a culture and traditional practice in film industry. Hong Kong does it all the time, especially if they are using specific sets from ancient period, it’s a form of respect. Yes, China has acknowledged the existence of religion, as long it does not seen as fanatic practice. Religion is view more of a culture tradition. Like monk good is a job, etc.
