But TTJ was also a mere medium for the original devil god to come into existence again.
He was an evil fetus. He was supposed to live and die a miserable lonely death for the devil god to perish him.
But Atleast in the series, we can always see his journey in a neutral point of view.
He was never truly more evil than the people he had to deal with.
Also in the beginning when he was already the devil god, even after conquering all the realms he still looked dissatisfied. More than anyone, he wanted to change the fate.

Also, back in mortal realm when he was the hostage prince even after getting back at his bullies by sending the crow attack, he was thinking how it didn't give him any sense of satisfaction. His intentions were never truly "evil" if you get what I mean.

I have started watching Love is sweet and here's why I believe JJ and YS are the incarnation of TTJ and LSS:

Ep:1

JJ quotes Mo Tze "Love without wars" which I feel is because she had lost her love to the ultimate war in her previous life. Hence she wanted him without being at war with him.

JJ is allergic to tears probably because she has shed too much tears in her immortal life 👀

JJ shouting "Is this man a demon?" literally implicating what TTJ was in their previous lives

JJ says "I can recognize him even if he turns into ashes" 🤧


YS offered his coat to the freezing JJ just how LSS gave her coat to the freezing TTJ in their previous life.


Ep 2:

YS asking JJ "Am I only a bully in your eyes?" is so TTJ. He has always seeked the validation of LSS.


YS's harsh way of pushing JJ to become stronger also reminded me of TTJ putting her through so much so she could break through the heartless way and attain nirvana.

Ep 3:

YS is known as" The invincible war god" so did TTJ who got to live as Ming ye in the dream.

YS asking JJ if she wants to spend a wonderful night with him is probably him referring to how LSS wanted to spend one last night with TTJ before everything ended.


Ep 5:

JJ says "You're my first target to assassinate" to YS

Ep 8:

JJ says "Is it Karma when it comes to YS? Did I owe him in my last life?" (Do we need more confirmation now?)

I can actually get what you're saying.
I completely agree with you. I don't hate the current ending at all. Infact, I find it beautiful in it's own way. And HE would have been a cliché for sure. But their characters suffered a lot hence I wished for their reunion at some point.

That would have been awesome if they had filmed such ending.

A part of me also thinks that the makers particularly left it open ended because the couple has a very happy ending in their other drama (Love is sweet).

I've seen whenever an onscreen couple do a romcom they always wanted to explore the tragedy route in their next collaboration.

I'm not gonna lie but the open ending have created an impact on all of us which I'm not sure the happy ending would have done. Surely, HE is something their characters deserved after going through so much. But you can still interpret it as a HE because TTJ got what he wanted - His wife to love him. So, we can see Susu is spending her life in his remembrance and a part of his soul in the heart scale looked contented unlike the Devil god in the beginning (who even after conquering the world still looked disinterested and dissatisfied.

So, looks like they have always intended for the series to end on such note.
