Besides the weird social critique (at least that's what I think this sp wanted to convey?), I loved seeing Bukki and Mao-chan as a married couple in a rather darker and angsty story (hell they even smoke together in a scene, which was very unexpected).
And the HanaDan reference (and no this can't be just the proverb used by coincident) was EVERYTHING! xD
oh wow I'm so happy if this inspired you xD but I hope my understanding of woman power doesn't disappoint you, it might be a rather broad definition ^^;;
I was just gonna check if I'm the only one utterly disappointed with this movie (I didn't have huuge expectations either, but didn't think I'd be THIS bored...) and am shocked to see who directed it!!! Tsusumi Yukihiko, the genius behind my all-time faves Pikanchi, IWGP, Stand Up and recetn hits like Initiation Love, what have you done dude?...
Upon rewatching, apart from the twist, what's been even more amazing to me is the fact that Matsuda Shouta's character spends an entire summer wearing the same shirt.
Have you tried Byakuyako, Himizu, Steel Cold Winter, Scarlet Innocence, Lovers Vanished, Innocent Thing, Compassion,…
Wow thanks a lot for the reply and so many reccomendations, I hadn't expected anything anymore tbh ^^ Also except for "Himizu" (which I haven't watched yet xP) the titles don't ring a bell, so I definitely need to check them out! Again Arigatou <3
ok finally watched it today!!!! Mainly for Nino, but also for the long awaited Neen - Kimutaku chemistry. Well the acting was definitely intense, Neens interrogation scenes blow your mind for sure! But too many characters, too many names, too much investigation, too many stories within stories are exhausting and you have difficulty understand who said what about who or who did what etc. But what was a big disappointment was the ridiculious ending shot, oh gosh why?! was that really the best way to end this? Depicting him as this weakling? ........
hahaha riiight! I sadi that in a previous comment I love him in psycho roles, but actually compared to the students…
hahaha or he's just fed up with all the BS of the world and those students. I'm sure it will all conclude with some philosophical stuff and lesson in the end as always, but I hope they'll up hope the psycho and bipolar part and even add some unpredictable surprises to him that will make him an unforgettable iconic character <3 I need more angst haha
Loved Matsuda in this, has something Edward Scissorhands-ish about him, but Nishikido as the clueless and awkawrad guy, Kimura fumino as a rather badass guitar-playing girl, and Kitamura as a gangster were also great. Filled with such a great cast I was really intrigued to watch this, but the trailer did not do justice to the film, made it look like a cheap drama special or something, which is what made me stay away from it for a while. But when I finally watched it it was thank god much better than in the trailer, much darker and absurd and twisted, just as I like it haha (Especially that festival was very interesting) So don't trust the trailer alone, and just give it a try. It's not that great of a movie, but it's not bad if you like these kind of weird dark mysterious movies, it definitely has some entertainment value!
Am I the only one who doesn't think the teacher is a psycho??
hahaha riiight! I sadi that in a previous comment I love him in psycho roles, but actually compared to the students he's pretty reasonable ne. But the moments he TURNS psycho are just great <3
ooookaaaaaay, omfg! I'm all for twisted dark movies and shit, but this one just left me disgusted and disturbed half the movie... eventhough I knew from the trailer, the title etc where this was going ( it was basically screeeeaming what it's going to be about...)
but stilll yabai, I didn't expect to hate the characters' guts this much, which must be evidence for the great acting. If there's anyone in the older age range of actors who are perfect for sociopaths than it's Asano, but Nikaido whoaaaa!
I had heard Nikaido talk about this movie on Shiyagare, I think about the scene where she had to really jump into that ice water (!!!)
Everyone was shocked bout that one scene, but I think the constant 'linking' of fingers were already enough, I mean how often do we have to see that man! Also the other 'bloody' scene besides the symbolic foreshadowing 'Carrie meets porn' scene (I had to write that xDDD) that was even more disturbing, namely the murder (the bloodiness of it all!) How the hell did that guy keep on breathing for several minutes after having his throat slashed?! (Plus: the poor little gold fish that was knocked over in between :( )
Though I hated both, the last close up shot of Asano in the restaurant makes you feel so sorry for him, as if it wasn't all his twistedness that caused all troubles. Such lowkey but expressive acting!
