the story started in ep 1 and it is a good one. I think if you couldnt sense it till ep 5, you wont like it no matter how many eps you will watch. So better drop it and watch something that can bring you more joy
Drama has a heavy plot, is full of symbols and metaphors, romance line is short, intense and sad, so, yeah, not everyone cup of tea

I think the end is realistic. Drama isnt a fairy tale and never promised to be one. ML was dying beginning with ep 3. In ep 18 every1 knew his chances to live are 0. For 37 eps we were prepared for this end, we knew he will die at some point of narration but didnt know exactly when.
However, both leads ended they arcs: she finally found that freedom she was looking for the entire life, doing what she always wanted (but also continue the tradition of both families). 40 years of traveling is actually a symbolic, metaphoric way to desribe a long life time process of maturation, ending the journey finding peace and fulfilment . ML ended his arc clearing his clan name and he also took revenge. In my opinion, this was the best ending for this story
