Title My Dearest
So far, Gone With the Wind parallels ended in episode 8. This story stands on its own legs, and you can't really…
It is not just references. The story line, characters and especially relationship and dynamic between them are clearly based on those in GWTW. That is why it was so easy for everyone to recognise the resemblance with GWTW. It was obvious. It is not ended in epi 8 but actually in 10, as the Officer is a prototype of Frank whom the heroine married because he had a mill. Also, like-ability is a personal taste. Generations of people loved Scarlett and Rhett, this movie is remembered 80 years after it was created, the evidence is that we are talking about it now. Let’s see if My Dearest will be remembered 80 years from now, with all due respect and love for those actors.

Title My Dearest Spoiler
I didn’t read the novel, can you spoil what would happen if they followed it?
Actually they will have to deviate. They can’t marry Gil Chae like Scarlett because in Joseon once the husband dies - the women’s life pretty much over. So I think they can’t marry her. Also, here Gil Chae came to the conclusion that she loved Jang Hyun earlier whereas in the GWTW - she realises it only at the end when it is too late. So starting part II they will have to deviate. In the novel - Scarlett (a.k.a Gil Chae) finally marries Rhett (a.k.a. JH) but for money, they have a child. The child accidentally dies and at that moment she finally realises that she loves Rhett too, but it is too late - he leaves her. Also - in this drama we saw at the beginning that Jang Hyun may also die. So I guess we are up for the new ending here, let’s see!

I didn't even pick up on this. Man, no wonder this felt like that romance novel formula
Right? Strong woman Scarlett prepared to do anything to save her family from starving during the war, becoming almost a businesswoman despite being from a noble family. Being in love with an idealistic Ashley who loved soft Melanie because she was his soulmate. And epic love from Rhett - smart, rich and successful but whom she thought very little of until the end when she realised she loved him but it was too late.

How can this be brilliant writing when its clearly an adaptation of the award winning classic movie Gone with…
The problem is that they try to replicate the epic love story of the GWTW in Korean cultural context. They have to deviate and in the process they lose some sense. It is inevitable I guess. For example - Scarlett was married twice before she married Rhett. For survival, to feed her family, including naive and idealistic (but weak) Melanie \ a.k.a Eun Ae. Here, they can’t replicate it as in ancient Korea if your husband dies - you pretty much die with him, your life is worthless - remember they explained it in early episodes. So they need to navigate through it and here is the result.

Title My Dearest
This drama is based on famous American old movie Gone With the Wind (which in turn is based on Margaret Mitchell novel) - same characters and love story. Except they transferred it to Joseon… They pretty much followed it closely up until now. If they follow it in future, we know what should happen next. :)

She did NOT have a hiatus 😂 she had no dramas in 2022 because she did two in 2021
Kim Go Eun does even less, Suzy too. It’s not a hiatus, it is her rhythm . People look at the number of dramas forgetting how much time it takes to film it. “The river when the sun ruses” had 20 episodes and was literally shot twice because of the drama with the ML. It took many many months. I am actually surprised she films so much and so often being a child actress and in this industry for a very long time now. Also, nobody hated her after the Love Alarm, I liked her very much in those two instalments, what a nonsense. She has such presence on the screen and she connects with everyone.

It’s not surprising. Even I don’t feel like watching it as it airs, in same night anymore. It’s a great…
And you would think that Lee Jun Ho can now choose whatever project he likes after such huge success of The Red Sleeve and all those awards he got and would pick up a really good one. Instead he picks this.. Did he need money so much 🤔?

Adults in their late 20s and even 30s have been playing High School students for decades and couldnt even look…
A bit more plastic surgery and soon everyone can play a high schooler in their 50s…lol. But I wasn’t talking about her, 28 y.o. is considered a baby in Kdramas, she can play a toddler )

Cus they both look young and why notPlus a student can be at 40 too or even older😅
I guess we should be thankful that he is not playing a high schooler but a college student. Because when a 35-year old Ahn Bo Hyun puts a school uniform on in See you in my 19th life - it’s a pinnacle of cringe. Not even saying that you end up just not believing the story.

Well, I mean most dramas are like this, they are cliche and they aren't credible, that's how it's supposed to…
It’s not about realism, it is about making the story different from hundreds similar, so I wouldn’t waste my time. Why would I want to watch smth which I know how it will progress and end? But if you like this - good for you, then you are their target audience.

I had better expectations from this series, but there are just too many clichés. From enemies to lovers, rich heir/poor girl, misunderstandings and bickering, fight for the heritage- just too many. FL is obnoxious for the moment, maybe someone likes them this way, I don’t. Overall, pretty disappointed by the choice of Lee Jung Ho, I guess I had better expectations from his next project after The Red Sleeve.
