So like... how are they going to bring Ying Ying back or has she been been listed as the lead on default?
I’m happy to see this series go supernatural tbh and use some magic to bring her back. She can even have post-death amnesia or smth idek, I just want to see the adorable Ying Ying with Xiao Tian again ahah

I finished this drama a couple of months ago but I’m watching it a second time since I like it so much lol
Seems like I’m the only one who actually likes the Emperor and Ying Luo pairing lol
I just feel like what Ying Luo had with Fu Heng was one of those young first love things, it felt like it was born from naivety. Puppy love. It was deeper rooted for Fu Heng than it was for Ying Luo and so things played out the way it did. I like the more mature, gradual building up of Ying Luo and the Emperor’s relationship. They helped each other grow for the better and they understand one another well. Their banter as an old married couple was really sweet.

I’ve still been checking the drama’s weibo for any announcements but nope ;-; I want Bai Yu to come back as Luo Fei too!

Basically, our worst nightmare for an ending came true haha
Disappointed but not surprised to say the least. It just makes things worse that this is a mystery drama so like you’d expect the big plot mystery to be solved? People are calling it a ‘no ending’ ending lol
I can only hope they release the deleted scenes or even better, announce that there’s a second season! I feel like what’ll happen is similar to what happened with Tientsin mystic where it’ll get a second season but the main Male lead will be changed. Such a shame for real.... the XM and LF ship is just so cute~

I know right! :( like... since they gave us no resolution, they could have just added these scenes in anyway LOL

Okay so the ending is basically an open ending. While there are some discoveries made about Captain i.e. he’s not insane, I wouldn’t say anything is really solved. Who killed Xiao Lu? What about the chamber of commerce letter? I’m not going to outwardly say what happens in the end but let’s just say it’s an ending set up for a second season (meaning it literally ends on an action scene lmfao). Whether that season 2 will actually happen or not, I don’t know. Whether it’ll be the same cast, I don’t know.
And of course, the burning question, what about Luo Fei and Xiao Man? NADA. ZILCH. No resolution for their relationship. No mention of it at the end.
They deleted countless scenes, some speculate even a whole case. XM and LF playing on the lawn, LF taking medicine and shaking.... we don’t see any of that. I’ll write a proper review in a bit but I’m very disappointed to say the least. The show had a lot of potential. The only way I see this ending to be justified is a second season.

So it’s just finished airing and I’ve been reading weibo posts on the ending and it seems like it’s some sort of open ending with many being like ‘that’s it?’, ‘we want a season 2!’ And ‘I don’t understand the ending’. I have yet to watch the actual episode but it’s looking like it’s a rushed ending....... I’ll update more once I’ve seen the last episode.

I’ve been lurking on the shipper tag for LF and XM on weibo and everyone is pretty much on the same consensus as us, they want to see a wedding and were asking why LF and XM still were not dating yet haha
And a cute fact: the couple name given to them in chinese is 罗曼 (Luo Man) which also means ‘romance’ :”
The full hashtag name is #罗曼蒂克szd# which basically means “Luo Man couple is real” lmao
The drama’s official weibo also uses the shipper hashtag a lot too so that gives me a little bit of hope. It is set to air 8 hours from now in China time but I normally start seeing updates at around 4-6pm GMT so I’ll update then~

Okay~ I’ll tell you what happens at the end :) I’m actually really worried about how they’re going to wrap this up because from the previews I’ve watched, the revelation about Captain comes in episode 23 which is frighteningly close to the end- so that’s why I’m worried about how they’re going to wrap up the relationships of the characters :(

Finale is tomorrow (for VIP users but pretty much everyone can access it online)! Excited to see how they’ll tie up so many questions in 4 short episodes but also sad to see it ending :(

All I’m saying is, if it is an open ending, I want a season 2 with the same cast :’)

Exactly. I’m starting to feel like this was such a waste of potential to make such a good series. It has already garnered quite a bit of popularity in China so if it ends badly...
Some people have been theorising that there may be a second season which is absolutely fine if they get the same cast back or they’re going to try and sell novels of this series after the drama (would explain why they might be going for an open ending). I’m just hoping it won’t disappoint us next week ugh

it’s episode 20 already and I’m starting to think it’s going to be an open ending. Man, that would actually suck and the fun relationship they’ve built up between LF and XM would all go to waste.

It was originally slated to be 30 episodes I think? Since the MDL page used to say 30 eps. So I think they did cut some episodes. But I was talking more about the cute scenes between the lead couple haha
If you’re worried about how this is affecting the plot line, it’s not that bad. Like, it’s not messy despite being a fast paced drama. I guess I can’t say definitely it’s all good just yet since I’m still waiting for how they’re going to wrap this up with the little time they have left BUT nonetheless, it is a drama worth watching for the mystery with a sprinkle of romance element :)

Sad to see that they’ve cut out many cute scenes of Xiao Man and Luo Fei :(

Benjamin is trying to get LF to try and realise his feelings ???? but I found the quick scene you are talking about! I have a sneaky feeling that that scene is actually just another ballroom party thing where they attend to investigate a case OR a celebration of some kind for the police department (maybe they’ve finally solved the big case!) because I don’t see a reason why Benjamin AND the police chief would need to be there for an investigation.That being said, there’s no saying that LF and XM aren’t going to be already together at that point hehe ;) Why would they need to enter linking arms at a celebration party, if that’s what it is? :D either way, I hope there’ll be a satisfying end for the pair because I am getting a little bit worried that it’s episode 16 and Xiao Man still seems oblivious to LF :/
