god, please give ZYC and HYX another drama to make up for this one. it started off good (although i HATEEEEEE the way they framed the story with guan shan and wan wan, made the whole story feel false as hell and took me a while to get into the drama without being put off by the fact that they’re not actually the ‘leads’) and then it just went spiralling to a mess of a drama. it gave the whole drama ‘it was just a dream’ vibes. ZYC and HYX’s chemistry is the only thing which held it together because i wanted to see more of their scenes. the latter half of was an annoying push and pull and dragged on. should have only been about 24 episodes.
the contents of the story itself was alright. i expected more of her dream power to take the front seat, but only really proved significant during the last 10 episodes. episode 36 was cute tho! i’m just gonna act like that was episode 35 lol i liked the leads’ characters, the manly general and his witty wife. i think it was enjoyable if you skipped bits but i would not watch again. 6.5/10
dropped after 3 episodes. maybe i’m not in the mood for campus dramas rn but i’m not a fan of either the ML or FL’s character here. there’s nothing particularly wrong with their characters, it’s just that i don’t feel the chemistry between them (i’ve actually tried 3 of simon’s dramas and i just don't feel like he has good chemistry with his costars, maybe its the constant blank and worried stare he has but his characters just seem to lack depth. i don’t think his acting is terrible but there’s something missing). it’s a shame because i’m obsessed with the other two dramas by the same writer. maybe i’ll pick this up again but right now, it’s a no from me sadly.
a lovely watch, i enjoyed very much. i like cliche dramas so this was great lol the main couple has amazing chemistry and loved the storyline for her illness. the last few episodes were a bit messy so skipped quite a few bits but still enjoyable. acting was great and camera work was so nice too.
they did drag on the shi yi pretending to be FL’s cure storyline for too long tho, i felt like we could have had more episodes of them focusing on ML’s past and all. overall 9/10. defo give this a watch if u just want something cliche and romantic.

unbelievably bland drama. such a shame because simon and the rest of the cast did a decent job. i liked ireine’s acting in Professional Single but it really lacked here. i find it so off putting that she always downturns her mouth for every expression she makes. she also tends to not be able to look the ML in the eyes half the time. in terms of the FL’s character, she was too hung up on the SML for too long. there was barely any time for her to build chemistry as an official couple with the ML before it ended. i don’t even know what exactly happened with the plot but i lost interest in like episode 3 but decided to push through in hopes to see some cute scenes between the leads and it wasn’t worth it. i don’t recommend this one, sadly. 3/10.
what a lovely drama! exactly to my taste :) the acting is brilliant, the story is paced well and the cast has amazing chemistry. i love the light, fluffy 24 episode modern chinese dramas and this is the PERFECT example of it. i wish they would have done more steamy kisses like love is sweet, i feel like this drama would have suited that hehe also, petition to see amy and eden in a historical drama please! they could defo both pull it off :D

i get where you’re coming from but it’s just personal preference really. while the way the ML in MFS was more cruel, i felt the romance afterwards was more interesting. i just really struggled to support the main couple in MHIL even after episode 8 because i got bored from episode 3. both dramas are good in their own ways but i just happened to enjoy MFS more.
i wanted to like this but i just couldn’t. the acting was fantastic (as expected of mew and mark!) but the story was not. it was draggy in the middle and ML’s cruel nature towards the FL lasted way too long for me to feel their love and once they did get together. i liked kang’s romance story better. it’s not a bad drama, just glaringly lacked in many areas so i give it a 6/10.
i’ve seen people compare this to my forever sunshine and imho, that drama far exceeds this one.
was a surprisingly nice watch! very fluffy, cute and romantic. it was very straight forward and no annoying draggy storylines so a nice pace. all the characters were incredibly charming, i enjoyed watching them all. the acting is good from the whole cast as well, maybe a bit stiff from the ML but i think that’s his character lol loved that lil connection between the leads at the end ;) kind of wish they spoke more of it but it’s cute enough aha
some criticism: while i enjoyed all the couples, JQ and SQ made me raise an eyebrow or two. i think they’re adorable together but the fact that he’s looked after her since young is kind of weird lmao also i don’t understand why the ML tells the FL that he’s controlling as a flaw of his and then just..... doesn’t try and change his ways? bit odd imo. it didn’t ruin too much of their relationship for me but can see how it might for others. he wasn’t crazy controlling like some MLs can be in cdramas so i guess i can overlook it. oh and qibao should have got a much bigger role!!!!!!!
overall, a drama worth watching. please give it a try if you enjoy simple romances :))
a nice watch. the aesthetics were lovely in this drama. HMH suits the ancient drama look so well, i hope he does more of these! GXT also looked stunning. the cast did a good job. it was refreshing to see such a strong female lead, i loved it! i was also interested in the side characters too as they also had some character development. the Ban family was so wholesome to watch :D a very satisfying drama. worth a watch if you are looking for an easy-going romance drama :) and it’s cute that the OST is mostly sung by the leads hehe
now to the bits of the drama i was a bit iffy about. i felt like nothing ever happened in this drama, i don’t know why. i couldn’t tell you what exactly happened from episode 11-30. like they would solve a problem then carry on acting like the problem is there? like how many times did the FL reject the ML for marriage. there was no need for this drama to be 40 episodes. too draggy. luckily it picked up from 30 eps onwards. the chemistry between HMH and GXT was a bit weak imo. they were good together but it wasn’t electric chemistry. the kisses were terrible, she stood like a plank of wood most of the time.
overall, 7.5/10. was good but could have been better :’)

the ending is a happy ending. no, we do not get to see our leads live happily ever after but i don’t think we need to since it’s hinted heavily enough. i don’t think a second season is needed. it did make me shed some tears because of zhan yu though. poor boy. he didn’t deserve anything that happened to him!

long answer: this drama would have defo been one of my faves if it had not been 40 episodes, the story was dragged on for too long. and most of the time, YJ was not even a free man?! i was not a fan of the flashback interview thing for the first 14 episodes. the way they presented the storyline in multiple POVs was a nice touch but the flashback kind of thing made it difficult for me to connect with the characters once the story was brought into the present. like, the characters didn’t feel developed? if the series had maintained the energy it had in the final 10 eps, it would have definitely been a more enjoyable watch than it already is. that being said though, i love the romance between our main leads. such a strong bond and trust. the bromance is top notch too (which surprised me because i hatedddd ZTH for most of the drama lol). gonna discuss the ending in a spoiler tag below this comment!
an easy and cute watch! there was something so calming about this drama. all characters were lovable and misunderstandings were solved quickly. there was no stupid headless chicken running around instead of communication between the leads. the kisses were STEAMY (other cdrama actors need to take note hehe).
the acting was incredible from the whole cast, esp considering it was the ML’s first drama?! he did so well. i wouldn’t mind another drama with sebrina and ZLH as the leads again (or even the secondary couple being leads) ;) they all have such great chemistry.
there were some minor plot holes, like how SC just forgets that Prince Qi saved her but it’s a not a big deal and doesn’t ruin the drama. it is also a little bit slow paced, but not draggy. i felt there was a good balance between mystery and romance, but romance does overtake a little so if you like romance then this is very much for you. overall, i highly recommend!!
