In my opinion, you can see how he was grown. His past love life wasn't anything healthy. I know his heart is good and you can see he is clearly trying to soften up a bit for her....but his damn personality sometimes!!!!!

For all those who were complaining about Ding Yu Xi neck looking stiff or whatever, you can clearly see he had to be in character. Based on most dramas I have seen, some times that is how the "bad" guys position their necks.
