Idk if it's just me but I don't get good vibes from Mix's character, I feel like he's 2 faced. Either that or…
He doesn't seem two faced to me, quite the opposite. He's clearly helping Mork, which is why he suddenly said yes to the invite after initially showing little enthusiasm. That also explains why he invited Mork without telling Pi. The way I'm reading the situation, Mork has asked Nan to help him out, and Nan is likely aware of Pi's feelings, so he's trying to shift Pi's interest towards Mork without breaking Pi's heart in the process.
Okay look...(deep sigh) I'm just saying that for the throw up after one drink part...one of my best friends did…
Yeah, in that case it sounds like it probably wasn't. Perhaps she was on a medicine or something, some stuff shouldn't be mixed with alcohol. Or just really tired and sensitive. Still scary either way how we can react so differently when consuming alcohol, depending on different factors. Like, I can drink a fair amount, but I get incredibly hungover so I almost never drink anymore.
But Duean's "holding hands"-trick worked! I got so anxious that Pi would be instantly rejected by Mueang Nan,…
Yeah, that's what I liked about Pi in this episode: how he really tried his best, even though he failed sometimes (or a lot, ha ha)! I think he's got the right attitude! :D
Okay look...(deep sigh) I'm just saying that for the throw up after one drink part...one of my best friends did…
Hm, actually... Perhaps your friend was drugged? I know some people are super lightweight when it comes to alcohol, but that sure sounds like the effects of rohypnol which affects the memory. It happens a lot in clubs. If so, good thing you got your friend home, even if it was messy.
Asians are known to have low alcohol tolerance threshold. I have a couple of friends who go full on amnesia even…
Maybe I misunderstood, but I thought the club they went to was having a theme of total darkness. The club was lit up in the scene so I'm not sure if I misunderstood that part or if the scene had to be modified in order to be able to film it properly (or if they were just technically incompetent at filming it in darkness). But I interpreted it as Pi not being able to see the person in front of him and therefore didn't realise that he'd grabbed the wrong hand.
How cool was that kissing scene? Sheer magic! This is actually how I imagined Sarawat would confess his feelings…
I loved Pi's confession! His straightforwardness is one of his best traits (although he can also be blunt and careless as we've seen with Mork). I love how Pi knows what he wants and then goes for it, even if he's not the archetypical Mr Cool&Suave. :)
I wish gmmtv didn’t spoil scenes in the parts they release every week. I sorta know what will happen and now…
I always scroll down to the comments as soon as the preview starts. I guess it helps with getting viewers to stick around for the next part or episode, but I also prefer not knowing what's coming next.
This series isn't meant to be deep and thought-provoking, so if that's what you're looking for then this series…
But Duean's "holding hands"-trick worked! I got so anxious that Pi would be instantly rejected by Mueang Nan, but to my relief he wasn't. Pi needed that confidence boost!
I also like that it's apparent that some of the "dude advice" Duean keeps giving to Pi are the same things that Mork also keeps doing, like how Mork makes sure to show up where he knows Pi is going to be, in order to create opportunities for them to get to know each other.
This show makes me laugh, and I even love all the secondhand cringe I'm getting from watching Pi's antics! I laughed out loud several times watching the last episode, as well as panic-paused in the middle of a scene that made me super anxious for Pi. I hope the show manages to keep the mix of funny romance tropes and slapstick up as it continues!
Also, I wasn't initially feeling Duean and Meen, but I've been won over by the 4th wall breaking narrator who can't stop meddling. Will we start shipping Narrator/Duean as well? :D
Anyways, it's so nice to have a funny series to watch forward to every friday to decompress at the end of the work week.
This was the first Korean BL that actually made me believe in the romance, so nicely done! I'd have loved to see a bit more dancing, and the final twist before the ending was resolved too smoothly. But all in all, a short and sweet drama with a good romance.
Although I enjoy complicated characters that aren't necessary nice, I think the problem with this drama is that the acting failed to make me believe in the attraction between the main actors. They felt stiff and formal together most of the time, while the other couplings felt more natural, even when they had relationship troubles. The beginning of the drama was quite good, especially the parts with the grandfather. But after the main character's dad left the immediate story, the story lost focus. Pinky and her brother was the main reason I sat through this drama to the end.
It was love at first sight for me with Richard Lee, and his pairing literally got no screen time until the very…
That would be a cool solution! I'd love to see their romance play out. I know that rebound couples aren't always popular, but I have a soft spot for those.
Someone previously pointed out in the comments that at least one scene from the s1 credits never made it into the actual drama, so I'm guessing that a lot of their scenes ended up on the cutting floor. :(
I don't want to excuse bad behaviour, but I believe that the key here is asking ourselves WHY Pi has become so…
I think it's important to remember that the story is an exaggerated comedy (borderline slapstick) and also still setting up the main conflict/dilemma. To do so, the story is clearly exaggerating Pi's unlikable sides right now, like how self-absorbed he is and rude for no reason other then jealousy.
But Mork-disguised-as-chat-buddy was about to mention Pi's good sides before Pi shut down the conversation, so we viewers never got to find out. And in the very first scene, Pi seems completely focused on his mission to help someone (who turned out to be himself) find love. So the story will fill in the blanks of how self-absorbed, rude Pi eventually becomes the man who runs through school with a bunch of balloons for the sake of (as he believes) someone else. This might not mean that Pi will become likeable or that the drama will be good, just that we don't know everything about him yet because of how the drama is structured.
If this wasn't a borderline slapstick comedy, Pi's behaviour would have been unappealing to me, but within the narrative and tone of this kind of exaggerated story he's not yet beyond help imo. Hope that makes sense. :)
I think this is the first time I have actually laughed out loud when watching a BL romantic comedy! Pi's actor has really been able to capture Pi's intense wannabe energy coupled with his frustration about his low social status and inferiority complex towards his oldest brother. He's quite good in this first episode with using purposefully exaggerated body language to convey the absurdity of Pi's constant overreactions.
I think it'd be easy to dismiss the setup as a "She's All That" Hollywood-remove-the-ugly-glasses-makeover, but I'd like to think that it's not Pi's barely-concealed nice looks that's the point, but rather his attitude towards himself. As others have pointed out in the comments, the drama seems to hint that the twist will be that Pi doesn't need to change his outer appearance, but rather how he interacts with other people. I personally hope that's the case!
I'm looking forward to see how this drama plays out! Hopefully the comedy aspect doesn't run out of steam like many other series seem to do in the latter half. I'd also like to see Pi develop friendships as well as find his Mr Right.
I love the drama. But I feel they should have done a better job making him look like an anti social kinda guy…
As others have aptly pointed out, the point of the drama is probably not Pi's visuals, but how he acts. He keeps focusing on people who bully him for his looks, but at the same time it seems that the real reason that he doesn't have any friends is because he's hard to like and get along with even for his non-shallow classmates. So that's why people dislike him. If he was super friendly and nice, he'd be able to find his "people" eventually.
Whoh, Pi's English is perfect - he even has a Californian accent. And Mix looks so much more handsome to me than…
I don't want to excuse bad behaviour, but I believe that the key here is asking ourselves WHY Pi has become so ugly on the inside, and what he can do about it once he realises that this is actually his main problem, instead of him blaming everything on his visual appearance and other people's shallow expectations.
I think that Pi's background as someone who was apparently bullied will come up in the story again. He's never been treated kindly – even his brother is lowkey negging him – and he's developed a severe inferiority complex as a result of having a highly admired brother. He has no friends (since his chat buddy is obviously the same guy who has a crush on him). Hopefully as Pi changes his attitude, the drama will develop some interesting friendships beside the romance storyline for Pi.
I completely agree that the story is likely to use the makeover as a lead-in to eventually discuss inner beauty!
This was bad. The acting, superb. Costume design, best I've ever seen. Story, what story? I didn't even know the…
To me, the problem is that episode 3 & 4 failed to set up the reveals and outcome that we see in episode 5 & 6, so that's probably why we find it so unsatisfying. I've been forcibly head cannoning a whole different scenario for those episode, so I was able to enjoy some of the scenes as this season concluded. But I agree, very messy storytelling overall. It shouldn't require us to head canon a more coherent storyline in order to enjoy it.
Pei Shou Yi's affective disorder has been mentioned both in s1 and s2, but the way it affects his life have never really been explained before which is why it may feel like his reveal came out of the blue. And ZY and BW was casually mentioned as a couple, but it's easy to overlook because it's all mentioned in passing.
Some of Duean's advice was actually ok! It's just that Pi's not always using the advice in the best way. ;)

About Zhen Xuan and Pei Shou Yi's confusing scene, I believe this was the intended interpretation of said scene: https://kisskh.at/74561-we-best-love-the-runner-up-strikes-back#comment-5811071
