Excellent first episode! Director Jojo has really upped his game these last few years! I can't wait for the next episode, and that feeling's been a while to be honest.
Recommended! A slow-paced and intimate drama about breaking the rut, finding new passions and daring to fall in love. More than anything, I enjoyed more than anything the actors in the main roles. They're both way more experienced compared to most BL productions and it shows. They manage to portray the slow awakening and hesitancy of Nozue, as well as Togawa's restrained passion and fear of rejection so well! I honestly wish all BL/LGBTQ+ drama production would use experienced actors, as the difference in quality compared to similar shows is quite distinct.
Cute but forgettable series. I remember sort of enjoying the manga when I read the first volume years ago, but I didn't remember any of the story after watching the drama I now I understand why. It's a fairly average story with a sweet but ultimately forgettable love story and characters. Good for killing time (I watched it while on a journey), but nothing to write home about. Keep your expectations low and hopefully you'll be pleasantly surprised.
I haven't watched any of the High & Low franchise before this one, so the first half of the movie was incredibly confusing with all the character introductions but no actual explanation as to who has a beef with whom, and so on. The second half of the movie was much easier to follow, and the way the story leaned into the theme of complicated friendships made me way more interested.
The dirty fights and creative stunts were fun and the clashes of personalities and different opinions of friendship kept the story going even for a viewer unfamiliar to the franchise like me. I wouldn't necessarily call this a good movie, but once the story finally gets going, its entertaining enough to watch until the end.
If you're here for NCT Yuta, you won't be disappointed, as he has one of the most interesting storylines in the entire movie.
While I have some issues with the rushed beginning of the episode, once the pacing slowed down I really enjoyed this first episode. I'm enjoying the retro vibes a lot! Looking forward to follow this show!
Don't tell me I'm the only one who felt that tension between Army and Alex. They both had more chemistry in that…
The way Army melted when Alex started complimenting him while looking him in the eyes was so cute! That guy is tough on his toxic outside and a puppy desperate for love on the inside.
I wasn't expecting to like New so much in this (I'm watching it for director Jojo's vision, Fah and the many wonderful actors in supporting roles), but I really liked him in this one! His body language is perfect for this kind of character, and I can't wait to see how he tackles the situation in the next episode!
Had a great time with this first episode and watched it with a wide smile the entire time!
Wow, I really enjoyed Inspector Koo! The story is a bit all over the place, and I frequently had to pause and figure out who they were talking about when the story made a callback to previous episodes, but there's something so irresistibly enjoyable about it. I loved the whole team that gathered around Koo ā their good sides as well as their less admirable ones āĀ and Koo herself is an absolute star.
I read that Inspector Koo is inspired by Killing Eve (which I have yet to watch), but may I also suggest some inspiration from Death Note and Dexter? Either way, highly enjoyable! I consider myself fully entertained.
My SO figured out Santa's secret pretty early on in the series, and while I was leaning toward a different theory, we both felt by the end that his theory was the intended one (not going to write it here because of spoilers).
I'd love to see a second season one day, especially since this seems to be an original work? It kind of had that webtoon/manga-esque feel about it, especially with the opening animation, but I couldn't find any information about a webtoon or novel, so original it is I guess.
Any new fans of First eyeing this show after enjoying his excellent performance in The Eclipse, but hesitating due to the low average score, do yourself a favour and watch it anyway! Keep an open mind, even if you're been spoiled, because this drama is so good and unfortunately it's been widely misrepresented by the BL community.
This is a show about BL rather than an outright BL in its own right. It has LGBTQ+ characters, but the main character is a young teenage woman and the story focuses on her love for BL as well as her emotional wellbeing. Come for the wacky premise, stay for the good storytelling and excellent young actors. Both Prigkhing and First are absolutely amazing in their shared role, and their costars Fluke, Piploy and especially Ohm are also memorable!
The story was clearly made by people who love BL, but aren't afraid to point a critical eye towards some aspects of the genre and its fans. You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll absolutely shout at your computer at times, and you might even find that this show asks way deeper and pointed questions about BL and our love for it than expected.
All in all, I can't recommend this show enough! So many overlook it ā I was almost one of them ā but I think a lot of you folks out there will love it so please give it a try. If nothing else, do it for First! It's one of his best roles.
I see there's been some cast changes since the concept trailer from last year, but I trust director Jojo and am looking forward to see what the team has cooked up for us!
I watched this show on a whim and thought I'd drop it after a couple of episodes, but somehow it just kept getting better and better, and I really fell in love with all the characters, even the mess ones. Short and sweet!
While The Eclipse wasn't a perfect show, I still loved it and waited with anticipation every Friday! First and Khaotung have my utmost respect. They acted the hell out of this messy script, plot holes and pacing issues didn't face them in the least, they just kept doing their thing and that thing was great. Loved this final episode so much!
Most people in Korea donāt come out itās not really a culture there, so I donāt think itāll happen and…
I guess a Korean Sci-Fi and Fantasy is out of the question then⦠Oh wait, that already exists. As well as horror and ghost stories, because monsters and ghosts aren't real⦠Oh wait, that already exists as well. Seriously, your comment is the most silly and bizarre I've ever received here on MDL. Why on earth would I wish only for something that's 100 % realistic? I can just watch the news on tv in that case. What I want in a drama definitely isn't 100 % reality. It's exactly because of the situation for LGBTQ+ people in Korea that I think a storyline exploring coming out as a public person would be both interesting and satisfying to watch.
The dirty fights and creative stunts were fun and the clashes of personalities and different opinions of friendship kept the story going even for a viewer unfamiliar to the franchise like me. I wouldn't necessarily call this a good movie, but once the story finally gets going, its entertaining enough to watch until the end.
