I think making Kiyoi the "bottom" and Hira a very gentle "top" makes the things more balanced. There's nothing wrong with enjoying sexual activities in one's preferred role and it doesn't take away one's masculinity or feminity. Lmao people can be so extra about absolutely nothing on SNS.

Tbh, I thought Riku actually did amazing . I'd like to see both of them getting more main roles. I think they have potential to become really good actors

That was still the best intimate BL scene I've seen in TV shows. I'd go as far to call it great by japanese drama standards. Not even mature actors with experience can always handle heterosexual sex scenes well, and here we have Yusei - newbie actor with no prior experience and Riku who hasn't had lead roles before, and both did great. And those who complain should remember that Utsukushii kare dared to do what other popular adaptations didn't do before and it did it incredibly well.

They didn't have enough time to adapt this but in the first novel they continue living together and turns out Kiyoi is a jealous lover. He helps Hira with a makeover when they attend a party together, and Kiyoi gets very jealous because his boyfriend ends up being pretty popular 🤣

There are 2,5 more novels about their life together as a couple. English novel thread has some links but at the moment there's no complete translation of book 1, the manga (only 1 chapter is out) or the drama CD in English.

Watching on japanese platforms with VNP and buying merchandise also helps.
