I have watched a lot of Korean dramas over the year, and The Guest is a near-perfect jewel. It had everything I was hoping for in a K-Drama. Some people are not fans of this genre, so I fully understand their reasoning for not watching, but still, it is something to behold. My rating is 9.37.
One thing I do is make informed opinions on dramas I watch myself with no influences from others. This show is adorable as the main actress is stunninlgly beautiful in a strange way. The story is nothing special. My rating is 8.08.
Who knew Bong Joon Ho would 17 years later win an Oscar for Parasite. I saw Memories of Murder in January of 2004 that encouraged me to think openly about cultural awareness. The actors are all superb, but the one piece that made the film flow was the soundtrack that tempered the mood. My rating constant through the years 9.24. The actual rating of 8.4 is too low.
It was a pretty great film to come out of Korea, but it is probably not saying much. I have seen over 900 war films. I would rate this up there in the middle of the pack as I have seen better South Korean war movies such as Tae Guk Gi: The Brotherhood of War (2004) and My Way (2011). My final rating 15 years later, 8.01.
I have this under the spoiler alert for precaution.. Windstruck had all the pieces to be a great film, especially the soundtrack that has stuck with me through the years. I do not want to spoil anything as I will let you decide on how good the film is. The film did remind me of the Hollywood film Ghost (1990), but only briefly. I loved how they used X Japan's song "Tear" Orchestra Version that stirs a lot of emotions. My rating 7.38. It is still a bearable film to watch.
Why has this not garnered more attention? I saw this in 2016 and I recently watched it again this year. Everything about it is state of the art K-Drama. It is a gripping drama that will stick with you. My rating is 9.16.
It is one of forty Korean Films I own. It is a rousing and stimulating film with breathtaking scenery. I saw this film back in January of 2004. I have seen it many times since then. My rating 8.86.
Incredulous. I can watch a film and not be traumatized or sick by anything. It was a film I watched right after Battle Royale in 2004. It is puzzling an unimaginable horror of a show. I can rationalize why people might hate this excellent movie—my rating 8.58. The soundtrack is frightening easy to the ears.
It is the first Japanese film I viewed. It is haunting, to say the least, but it is more about the characters coming alive on the screen not so much the tired storyline. It was the first of many Kitano films I have enjoyed over the years. My rating is 8.69.
I almost forgot how much I miss Hong Kong Films of the late 80s, 90s, and early 2000s. I was shocked in 2006 the year "The Departed" came out because it was a carbon copy of Infernal Affairs. It was a great movie for its time. I would rate it above the Hollywood remake fo its sheer originality. My rating is 8.44.
Has it been a year and a half already? This film is gripping, maybe starting at ten minutes in or twelve minutes in, and it takes you on a thrilling ride. Some people might not like a movie like this, which is very understandable—my rating 8.64. It is definitely rewatchable.
I saw this film in March of 2004. Incredible. It is the equivalent of Private Ryan and a few other war movies I have watched over the years, except it takes place in the Korean Penninsula. The acting is very good. Give it a try even if it is for ten minutes or twenty minutes. My rating is 9.46.
I remember watching this drama back in 2012. It was predictable. I knew what the outcome was going to be from the start. I loved Lee Bum Soo character a lot. He brought a lot of spark to the screen. Why and I stress why do Hong Soo Hyun outfits were so skimpy and feminine. She is beautiful. Every time she had screen time I could not take my eyes off of her. My rating several years later 8.32.
It is truly a moment to remember for me. I watched this film in January of 2005. It holds a special place in my heart many years later, as I have watched this unforgettable tale countless times. It is a must watch as most everyone says. Last note, I do not care to cry through anything, but I almost tear up watching this emotional journey. My rating is steady through the years 9.57. I own the soundtrack as it is always music to the ears.
I first watched this drama in late 2004 close to Christmas time. I remember I fell in love with Song Hye Kyo's character, not so much Rain's character. It was bearable for about ten episodes, then it dragged. I rewatched this drama again three years ago, and it did not have the same effect on me except Song Hye Kyo is very pretty. No wonder I enjoy watching her dramas. My final rating is 7.48.
It is a movie worth watching at least once. The plot is nothing new, and it's a story rehashed a million times, but the Director had a refreshing idea that made the film work to its advantage. My rating is 8.05. It was an excellent Thriller, but not the best to come out of South Korea.
You can watch it here with English subs. I watch it raw so do not need Subtitles.
