was it the best drama to ever exist? not exactly was it enjoyable? extremely fun to watch do I want luo yunxi and alen fang to collab again? I will watch it every single time!
a painfully recurring theme in this drama, is that no one can truly save you but yourself we r so used to the leads finding each other and the ML being the stepping stone that transforms the FL's life. and even though they gave us the ML that can at the end of the day do that, they never gave him that role at the end of the day no matter where the FL would have ended, she would have still lived on and made a life for herself that doesnt take away from her love to the ML and how she built it over time but no woman should ever wait for a man to fix her and her life, at the end of the day, she had to work on herself every step of the way to reach where she wants and thats a theme that is a painful for a drama watcher with such a ml

honestly would have loved if they kept their original pacing, focused on Jinqi vs Han's choices of staying and leaving. the benefits that came with the power and the drawbacks of leaving that behind (cuz they never showed that at all). and then how both worked to save the capital in their own ways, and how both ended (han frozen to death and jinqi back to his family). and then kept the last two time skips, with the daughter growing up and Lanxiang last days
Like even though it was extremely female centric and beautifuly done, it would have shown lanxiang attempts to make jinqi retire worthwhile hwne the focus is on the consequences of those decisions. it would have tied the drama nicely, but the constant focus on women struggles was way too depressing and teh connections with the characters became too loosee with all the time skips

but i do understand it from a drama perspective, with all the limitation on episodes and wanting to get the message across. it felt like we are taking a journey through a time machine and highlighting all the key moments in their lives it was beautiful and meaningful, but felt needlessly painful, bitter and tragic
I think this is the first drama I ever watched that took identity concealment as seriously as it should have been
The way the ML found out through a genuine slip that happened in a moment of overflowing emotions at the birth of a child was amazing show of how resilient they were and adamant they were in protecting themselves cuz its one hell of a crime and I know people might think that the ML could have figured it out sooner, but thats the beauty of how smart the FL is, she doesnt really invite people to start questioning in the first place. She caused all the ladies of the house not in invest in land and property cuz she wanted to go back to her parents Even though she made the ML see her view and get away from power's way, we are yet to see how that unfolds, but I believe it will have its drawbacks too, cuz as he told her, she needs to believe not only to disregard and she is high up her moral horse that if she ever snaps or decide to go rouge, she can seriously harm a lot of people They dont have to make her snap or fall off for people to see her flaws, but she definitely has them She is just not a loud character which makes people not notice them

I see a lot of people seeing the FL as an invincible character and that puts them off, but I do believe what makes her stand for so long is that she is able to make the people around her work with her.. she is a smart and insightful person with a lot of clever ideas. But most of her schemes will fall through if the people around her do not lend her their hands. And I think that is the beauty that people are enjoying the FL with. She is used as a source, sure, but most of the female characters around her develop and evolve and are able to use their judgement and know when to pull from her strength and how to use it. She feels to me like a creative source in a pragmatic world. She is able to see beyond the society norms which makes her full of great ideas, but she can only go through with them because all the people around her have their strong merit that they use to make things work Or else you would see the FL forever working alone and fighting till she is exhausted. So yes they depend on her a lot, but mostly as the source of the ideas and to drive the creative insight she has into their problems.

I agree with every single thing you said I also think the writing isnt gearing towards the FL doing things to the ML to fix him. she is using alternative routes to reach the same destination, forcing him to think beyond what he usually does. The way he treats his family and personal life shows he is not some closed off ML who is hung on his ways, he just simply truly believes that this the way to do things. He doesnt even see what he is doing wrong which is why he can be dangerous. So I think him understanding those consequences will be very interesting. In the same way, the FL really didnt heal at all. she is deeply burying everything because she thinks all she needs to do is live. she let go of everything in her life and just focused on having a day-by-day simple life. but she would never truly heal without facing her past. and i dont think she cares about healing and being forced to heal something she never even wanted to acknowledge is why this has been such a cruel experience. Usually the FL is filled with vengeance and revenge which is the power she uses to strive forward. but here it is not the case, and I would love to see how these two would complete each other in ways i dont think they even realize they need.

yes this is exactly what I think too! i remember the first time around he didnt really want to break off the engagement but his family forced him too. seeing the way he is, he probably always felt guilty towards them and i think he buried their remains and preserved the house

agreed but the parallels do make sense. a family as prominent as the Shen and Li family are not that many, and the Shen house has been empty for over 6 years. Now there is no way the ML didnt now it used to belong to the Shen family so we are yet to see why he chose to buy this house. maybe it is to maintain the shen family house himself or some other reason. he just has no idea he has the daughter of that house right beside him
