This drama's name should be changed to "How NOT to be a leader" with how incompetent the ML is! Like I am struggling to find a single reason why he would be a good Sword Weilder and I find none Shang Jue has every thing that it takes to be a leader and he proved it through and through
Just finished this and it is so good!! First of all, Yangzi Yangzi Yangzi.... she was just so good! fully embodied the character and managed to make her expression and demeanor for every male lead uniquely theirs - which was just so good to watch. Xiao Yao's character was also one of my favorite female characters ever. her past reflect on her personality, and she is very smart. as a woman who spent 300+ years alone, it shows clearly how well she takes care of herself and others. I love that until the very last episode, she didnt lose that. I also love how her aspirations were different than ur typical character and how she has reasoning for her actions. she is also very calm, smart and wise. Loved that in her Cang Xuan, there was just something about him that screams command. love how he mastered how to fully take care of the women around him which made him being a sought out character very believable. he isnt just a handsome dude, he knows how to fully flatter and take care of them and make them feel special. Loved his expressions throughout. how you can tell when he is sincere and when he is not. and his struggle throughout xiaoyao's love affairs. Loved how he worked his way throughout and how smart he was, His succession to the throne made my heart swell with happiness Xiang Liao, our favorite red flag. Everything in my heart and mind tells me that he is not right for xiaoyao, and I honestly dont think I will like it if she did end up with him, but will that stop me from rooting for him from the bottom of my heart? Will that stop me from wanting him on screen all the time, interacting with every single character? Just something about his scenes with TSJ and CX that makes me want more entanglement, and not just a connection through XY. ... Loved his ways of loving her, yet he stubbornly insists on being the most toxic romantic potential by the way he pushes her away. love how he shares a past similar to XY. While XY shared with CX childhood trauma, she shares with XL hostage trauma, and then we have TSJ as the supposed healer of all that. Out of all characters, he understands her the most, he was the one who gave her means of protecting herself rather than just try to protect her "I taught you archery so you wont have to ask favors from anyone", and I truly feel she fell for him the most, but she is smart enough not to indulge (and everytime she thinks of giving him a shot, he reminds her why she shouldnt) Tushan Jing, the character I feel most conflicted about. he is very smart and I think he has a huge potential that he doesnt bother use to the max, and as YSQ he was honestly my favorite, However, when he resumed his role as TSJ that is where I feel conflicted. I love how he was willing to give XY what she wants, that he understands her needs to be pursued and how hard-headed she was about going into a relationship. I also love how he can find it in him to not seek revenge even after 3 years of torture, this actually requires so much strength. and to not cower in fear when he sees his brother. On the other hand, he is naively optimistic - to believe that not doing anything will make them not do anything as well. XL and CX were smarter than that, mostly by experience. they know that offense is the best defense. but TSJ just held on to his pureness and that ultimately leading to his destruction. his biggest flaw is not gentleness like XY said, it is idiotic naivety. he needs a turning point in his life to start taking things in his own hand and stop letting his guard down around the wrong people. cuz he is smart, but too unsuspecting. Looking forward to him taking reins of his own life and not letting his family use him left and right
I agree! I love how they are not making GSJ some mindless evil character, and how the ML is not just a great ruler overnight. So I really hope they dont add events just to lead up to ur typical drama categories
Honestly, at this point he is such a good leader, very smart and wise in his decisions (and his relationship with GYZ is just so good) which makes me very curious (and excited) on how far our ML will be going to compete with him
I don't know why people can't discuss the 3 options without taking "jab" at Jing. "Other than completely draining…
I am not a fan with the way his character was played out in the couple of episodes leading up to Ep 30, in the drama It seems like you are basing your comment on the drama + novel, which is probably why you have a more round idea of his character as a whole However, as the drama lays out his character, it has done so pretty decently most of the episodes. However, the lead up to that climax scene did not feel well laid out for his character. So while I was seeing the 3 of them on equal grounds throughout, with compelling reasons to do what they have to do, they suddenly shifted the scale to TSJ side too much without enough compelling reasoning (in my opinion) so I didnt quite feel the pull at that point in the drama. Nor was I affected by his actions the way I wanted to be
Again, I havent read the novel, and I am mostly blaming the scene layout and how the drama told that particular side of the story. Reading snippets of the novel that someone just posted puts that scene in a different prespective, but it wasnt like that based on drama only
Based on the drama alone (haven't read the novel), the only reason TSJ can give up everything for XY is because he doesnt have much to begin with He doesn't have any real responsibilities, his disappearance affected nothing but only his family missing him And he feels like he owes it to his brother for what their mum did
CX and XL however have real reasons for wanting something else in their lives. CX will be eaten alive and broken down to nothing if he isnt powerful enough to protect himself and others around him. Even in haoling, his uncles were always trying to eliminate him
XL has an army to constantly feed and protect. He is loyal and cant let go of his responsibilities
While I understand that XY wants a steady peaceful life, only TSJ can afford to do that to her.
So yes, logically speaking she should end up with TSJ based on aligned life styles. But it still feels like a luxury on TSJ side rather than a short coming on the other two
Other than completely draining himself away, there isnt much TSJ can actually do to XY, and he relies heavily on his established family.
While XL and CX have to constantly drain themselves while still fighting to maintain what little power they have
How come Xiang Liu is the last one to arrive!? Or no where in the scene!?He is the supposed to have felt her pain…
Maybe it was the way it was shot, but it felt very frustrating to watch
I can find reasons to justify why things happened the way they did. But the sequence of the scenes, especially for such a pivitol scene felt more frustrating than thrilling
Shang Jue has every thing that it takes to be a leader and he proved it through and through
feels like we r in for a ride in season 2

I am almost rooting for him instead
