Long wait for the finale
‒Short Review‒
While this show had an interesting concept with a lot of potential, the execution lack the tension and gravity to fully hold my attention. It's probably decent as a slice of life, easy watch to see the high schoolers get learn life lessons through various episodes. The problem is the acting for some of the characters, including the young ML was not compelling enough to fully bring me into the show. Maybe the experience would be different if I watched more attentively, but better shows have no issues capturing my undivided attention.
While the show received a high score on Douban, probably due to some innovative aspects of its storytelling at the time of release in 2019, there are various aspects that felt quite dated in 2025‒the over dramatic acting, the overly innocent soundtrack, protagonist narrations, etc. In comparison, other shows like Go Ahead and Wind Direction does a much better job balancing youthful hijinks, childhood nostalgia, and the emotional journey into adulthood. I kept waiting for the show to fast forward into future time as that's where the dramatic tension was, but I ended up skipping 14 episodes for the finale, which was a cheesy resolution. I'd be curious to what we would get if the concept was executed with more gravity, emotion, and polish.
