Title The Lead Spoiler
I am slow at watching this amazing series.
Episode 9
Watching Lai Di danced ballet under the rain is so moving. In just a few minutes she embraced the meaning of this art. This reminds me of the 1996 japanese movie Shall We Dance in which the main lead practiced his choreograhy under the bridge. That was a memorable scene.

Edit: If I remember it was a rainy late evening.

Episode 8 was brutal.
Political cleansing during this post revolution. Informers every where so similar to the cleansing of the French informers at that time. Women's heads were shaved and men killed.

Some however were innocent nonetheless this cleansing came from neighbours's revenge imputable to jealousy, envy. A shame that this type of massacre is minimized in history books. Really a shame.

NOT A SPOILER
Subtitles too fast so I made this for myself and share with whoever needs a few insignifiant somewhat insightful details to start with.

Di Renjie's companions's strenghts are :
Duan Shi Si : sharp ears, swift feet, former military scout
Chu Qing Lan : skilled at medecine and poison - will become Di Renjie's disciple
Lin Bu Yan : Di Renjie's beloved disciple, uses paintings to identify criminals

Enjoy !

Title The Lead Spoiler
Episode 5. A real history of Chinese post cultural revolution. I know that Intellectuals were sent to farming, books were burnt, there was a strict birth control and the girls were the first to be rejected or sent away, forced abortions, etc.

Right now, how painful to learn that last dynasty's opera wardrobes had to be destroyed. Reality check ! I am going to research on this aspect of Bejing Opera.

Every time Lai Di sniffs, I burst out of laughter.
Thanks to the sound effects at episode 3, the fly in my headphones 🤣
Introducing the uncle's character deeply through the means of the different drums was well presented.

If you like arts in all its shades, you will enjoy it. Alas I have no time to read the book. The arts director, the director, the props and wardrobe departments left nothing aside. The writer must be proud. This is not concentrated on pretty boys and girls romance story. It is arts in words. Sit back and enjoy. I am having a blast.

Thks god I don't have a short attention span. Otherwise I would miss a so well written story. Nothing is detailed in each episode otherwise it would be a 60 episode series. The sequence of events guided me to this conclusion. I might be wrong. Time will tell. The description of each character, the narrative of each scene have their own meaning. This script is sculpted to make viewers concentrate on the development of the story.
Enjoy.

Title The Heir

Correct. I believe it was inherited from his father Li Jin Shui (Li Zhen's grandfather).
I suppose that each branch of the Li clan had its own recipe. The reason why I believe this is that the uncle - the broken-leg-uncle- never succeded in the ink making. And to remember that Li Zhen tore into piece the only Li recipe. This is how the Li never got up from that fall as they couldn't duplicate it. There are so many details that this series cannot be fastforwarded. It asks so much concentration.

Title The Heir Spoiler
The 14th episode left me with a pleasant vibe.
Grandfather isn't giving up on her. It looks like he went on an outing to get special herbs needed for his granddaughter's endeavour. If I remember, he has a special ink making recipe. So, his outing with the two other members of his family is the mean to gather the missing ingredients.
He describes his bondless love for his family by writing "Deep as the sea, kinship entwined". What a spirit he has.
