First of all, I feel shy and together blessed reading your meticulous answer.
Second I didn't watch Love Beyond The Grave and I will not as to my artistic preferences, good as these leads can be, their respective vibe don't translate fantasy scripts style.
Then, as I said, I shall rewatch You Have My Heart although idioms are not at my level of understanding Mandarin. But, I have difficulty to make the bridges between the supporting actors and the leads. Both leads convey deep intentions and I like the direction the script takes me.

Watching this story seems more complicated after reading your above review. I dare say that now I have to pause at the 3rd episode and restart anew whithout this review in mind.

That 6th episode a well scripted mourning, longing for one's lover. Vividly tender moments.

Sounds interesting but a 12 mn episode will not satiate me.

Ep 4 with its Brokeback Mountain vibe...lakeshore, tent and its rolling down zipper, campfire, childish playing around...all In The Mood For Love.

Ep 5 with each protagonist's background stories and Lan's dedication. As I can't stand this cliffhanger, I pause for a day or two.

No need to be gay to send a harm heart in memory of the June 28th 1969 Stonewall riots in Greenwich village, that started the LGBTQ Civil rights mouvement around the World. There are still battles to win around the World also in our own surroundings a step at the time.

Correct, not to be glorifyed but an awareness that it does exist. Naming a disorder especially a so insiduous disorder at times under the pretense/associated to of PTSD will help people seek for help. It is newly discovered and is worldwide diagnosed by researchers and professionals in the neuroscience field. This Cdrama is a helping hand in this approach. Ye Li is not crazy. She has suffered an emotional shock and will recover for sure.

Correct, I have forgotten to mention this scene. She had also multi personality disorder at that scene and I was wondering if the writer wanted to take that path. But for this genre of drama, it would be too complicated to invest viewers time. When mentioning this disorder in one of my comment, there were two viewers arguing on my finding, then later gave up as they had no medical proof (except for an AI dictionary).

I had thought of an imaginary friend and even mentioned that many people have imaginary friend(s) in early age. Instead of a doll or teddy bear some people have imaginary friend(s). Related to this story, later I believed that her trauma was due to PTSD. Then moral injury or moral guilt was the closest symptom related to her illusionary comfort zone. Should you have time to look at the begining of episode 31 every thing is clearer.

I feel you in regards to her past work. I had to ignore many Cdramas by depriving myself with good male co-stars. Give it a try for at least the first 3 episodes. You'll have a blast.

I came here only for Tan Jian Ci.

Now I am here for Wang Chu Ran although (and I am honest) I wasn't interested in her past roles neither her acting...at all. Suprisingly, she kept me sitting and laughing and craving for more of her screen time. She is well directed and this role suits her perfectly.

So, for newcomers, don't take any notice of the thumb down whatever youtuber is giving to this Cdrama. Stick to the story for the laugh, the micro exprexions, the comedy, the repartee, the fun fireworks to finish or start your day. Enjoy...enjoy !

I acknowledge that this story is describing trauma at different levels. Be it PTSD, moral injury also called moral guilt in the case of this Cdrama. My comment was critized by 2 commenters some days ago. One of them later on used my view point in his/her own wordings - people's ego is so deep. Yes a trauma or traumas have layers that neuroscience are discovering these last decades.

Every human being, including me, has a trauma or traumas according to their will to acknowledge the reason of their trauma(s). Even population living in democratic countries or no war zone states have trauma(s). Unfortunately, rare are the people that take the first step to face it and reach out for help. Because they bury it due to pride, shame, fear and most of the time because of ignorance. Once the trauma is named, life is more optimistic. I had to document myself on this subject not only for my work but to be at peace with myself.

At the very begining I had thought that Ye Li was Qing Shuang until that relevant episode.
That's for sure, Qing Shuang was Ye Li's maid. QS died at the mountain from the epidemic.
At episode 31 we could witness Ye Li speak to her young herself. She even told her young self "Am I crazy ? I shouldn't be seeing you. Only a crazy person can see herself". That scene was a tearing scene.

As for her trauma I discussed on this thread some weeks back I had said that she suffered of PTSD. Then later her behavior suggested that she suffers of moral injury also called moral guilt.

This is, to me, the most fascinated subject of this story.

Renaming a disorder doesn't mean that the disorder doesn't exist. It is a change of expression to soften medical terms into "proper English".

Although it isn't the subject here, it was said that autism was a birth defect during fetal development. I had students (teenager girls and young adult girls) with austistic syndrome, whom following an emotional shock had a change of behavior after the age of 6. They withdrew into themselves although they had no family history, they are autistic till the end of their life. Fortunately, new discovery has acknowledged this matter. So I am extremely careful in regards to obsolete medical statistics as they vary from one decade to another. Another example is bipolar disorder. Decades ago is was supposed to be another birth defect. Now science is analizing cases that develop due to emotional shock in young adults.

One says that: MPD was renamed DID - meaning that it is DID.
the other @whoissilimoy says : "PTSD can also have DID like symptoms, it's what they're going for here. She doesn't have split personality."

Survivor's guilt is similar to moral guilt. Different terms and in medical study the same as you said "syndrome" which is an effect due to traumatic experiences resulting to PTSD. We both talk about the same behavior. I documented myself on this subject through medical studies. With all due respect, allow me to say that I noticed that you've just contradicted yourself when using the terms: "mental issues" "survivor's guilt syndrome". I don't believe that you have an incorrect intention when reading my previous comment but a different view to acknowledge it.

I watch each episode twice as I have an interest in this subject. I don't want to miss details pertainting to this and I want to see where the script is leading me. I don't stick to previews and do not watch them as I know that most of the time previews are misleading.
