This is my absolute favorite C-drama. Trust me, you won’t regret watching it!
I'm still watching it, and I like it so far!
On My Journey to You Nov 8, 2025
As much as I really appreciate this drama—the story, acting, costumes, and cinematography... The ending still traumatized me, lol. It’s been more than two years since the drama aired, and I feel like they never gave the story a proper ending. If they wanted to go with that kind of ending, they should’ve made a season 2. Honestly, I’d rather have a sad ending than no conclusion at all. The story had so much potential for another season, and there were still so many things left unexplained.

Everything about Lize Palace just doesn’t make sense—especially the part where they force their clan members to wear masks, forbid them from interacting with outsiders, and prohibit friendships, emotions, or relationships. They even said that Sifeng could be pardoned after completing the 13 towers, but in the end, they still used him and kept him bound by that love-curse mask.

(Little update) — I’m on episode 10 now, I like the plot so far. But, the new girl (I forgot her name—Ms. Lu? The one who said she was lost or something) is annoying AF. Also, the way she tried to “trap” Xuanji by forcing Minyan to pin her down was just diabolical. Her actions weirded me out...

I decided to watch this drama because I’d already watched Sword and Beloved (I think Cheng Yi’s acting is amazing in that one), so I decided to check out one of his representative works. I’m currently on episode 7, and so far, I really like it! Also, the female lead is so cute~ I love how she’s cute, unbothered, innocent, kind, silly, yet smart at the same time. I hope the drama turns out to be as good as people say it is.

Change the genre from *Romance, Wuxia, Drama, Fantasy* to *Qing Cheng’s obsession, Wuxia, QC’s annoyingly…
I still can’t believe the word “Jiejie” could traumatize me this much.🤣

Also, we still don’t know if Fugui is going to be D-word or not, but…It’s funny how I started this drama…
HAHAHA, after that "Heaven and Earth Strike" thing, atp just give Fugui that peacefulness where he can drink his tea and enjoy the view. Idc if it's in heaven. Bro just want to enjoy a normal life.🤣🤚

Title Sword and Beloved Spoiler
After episode 20, it looks like everything has changed, for instance Qingtong’s character. She was smart and…
THIS. I feel like she’s smart enough to notice how her brother changed so drastically. Also, when she was first kidnapped, she asked the Spider Silk Cave agent to inform her if something happened to her brother or the city. But somehow, she brushed it off even though she realized how strange her brother was.

What I noticed:
1) Qingtong already felt something was off about her brother.
2) She knew her brother was hiding a lot of things and doing something evil.
3) She knew he actually framed her, but she was just in denial. Even Fugui told her that deep down, she already knew who the real culprit was.
4) Episode 27 proves that Qingtong was simply in denial, using her “loving sister” feelings to overlook how evil her brother had become.

One thing she should understand is that her brother was the one who chose to let the Black Fox’s power and hatred consume him. All of his evil deeds were his own decisions!

Also, we still don’t know if Fugui is going to be D-word or not, but…

It’s funny how I started this drama hoping for a happy ending, and genuinely believing it would be one. But at this point, considering how Fugui has no real attachment to life and how unfair the world has been to him, I’ve started thinking, “It’s okay if Fugui’s gone at the end of the story—maybe he’ll finally be happier when he reunites with his loving mom.” lol. Just imagine Fugui sipping his tea, making lanterns, maybe having a drink and chatting with his mom in heaven. Maybe Fugui has been teaching me the art of letting go.

LOL… what the hell am I even typing.🤣

Title Sword and Beloved Spoiler
Here’s what I thought after watching 27 episodes of Sword and Beloved (I turned on the spoiler thingy just in…
What I love about this drama:
- I love the aesthetics of this drama.
- I love Fugui and Rumu’s relationship (which is different from Hongye and crazy Quan Jingting).
- Can we talk about how amazing their costumes/make up/ styles? Sooooo pretty omg. 10/10
- The OST, omg, I love it so much. Liu Yuning's voice matches Fugui's fighting scene so damn well.
- It actually has an interesting plot and a lot of potential, only if they didn’t add too much of the siscon thing lol.
- I didn't expect Fugui-Rumu-Yunfei dynamic to be so much fun!
- Crazy villains (which is interesting), but still that Qingcheng siscon plot is a BIG NO.

I will rate this drama a solid 9 only if:
- LESS SISCON PLOT WTF (I’M SO PISSED OFF WITH QINGCHENG–QINGTONG’S RELATIONSHIP). At first, Qingcheng was the only one who pissed me off, but in episode 27, Qingtong really disappointed me... Girl, I trusted you, and you did this to me lol.
- Fewer unrelated plots (like the siscon one). I feel like Qingcheng’s arc is just too long. I don’t mind if he turns out to be a villain, but this siscon plot has been going on for almost 10 episodes? Please be real...
- They kill Quan Jingting and Qingcheng (I’m sorry, but they need to die, or at least get proper karma).
- If they end the evil black fox demon storyline, because Hongye and Fugui’s sacrifices should be ENOUGH. How long are they going to use this black fox demon as the main villain? Is it really that powerful that their sacrifices weren’t enough? lol.

What I think about Fugui as a male lead:
First, I didn’t expect that I would love Fugui’s character this much. If I could compare him to anyone, it would be a monk. He’s so unbothered, calm, kind, but surprisingly sociable (considering how he grew up in such a secluded space). He’s the type of person who’s selfless and never lets hatred control him. Why a monk? It’s because of the way he smiles, acts, and thinks. He doesn’t really have attachments and is ready to let go of everything. That’s why, when he loses something in life, he can still find his own peace and happiness. No matter how hard his life gets, he always finds a way to live.

What I think about Qingtong as a female lead:
I love her so much. She’s like a ball of sunshine—super kind, beautiful, emotionally smart, and lovable. But around episode 24 to early 27, I had a feeling that the siscon plot would ruin her character, and it did on episode 27. WHICH IS ANNOYING. It feels like I'm betrayed by her lol. Where's my old Qingtong

If I’m being honest:
I’ve been considering postponing the drama ever since they dragged out the siscon plot and Qingtong’s character started to disappoint me (in episode 27). Maybe it’s because I loved the FL so much at first, so when she got blinded by her love for her brother and ignored his evil deeds, it pissed me off. But since I really want to know how Fugui will solve all of this chaos, I’m hoping they’ll end the siscon plot soon. Once again, this drama has an amazing potential, but they kinda ruined it with the siscon plot.

This drama is the definition of wasted potential. The first half had me thinking I found a hidden gem… and then…
It really pissed me off when they decided to change Qingtong’s character to make such a dumb decision (ep 27). Fugui is sacrificing himself for everyone at this point. Also, the Fugui–Rumu–Yunfei dynamic kind of saves the draggy siscon plot—which, honestly, I still don’t understand why it’s even important. I don’t care about Qingcheng’s obsession… what’s the point?😅

There are a few episodes where I barely see Fugui, which is kinda weird. I’m fine with fillers if they add something to the story, but the siscon plot? Just random, dumb, and annoying. 😮‍💨

I didn’t expect to like Fugui’s character this much, which is also why I’m staying for him. He’s somehow unbothered, calm, and smart, yet surprisingly sociable in his own way. His character is really interesting, and that’s why I want to see how he’s going to solve all this chaos.

Fugui is so soft-hearted; I just want him to be happy atp. Also, I hate the idea of “soldier”—they basically raise their son to be used as killing machines. It’s so diabolical.👁👄👁🤌

The father is also annoying... He’s projecting his trauma onto Fugui and treating him like a killing machine without giving him any explanation. I don’t care what kind of trauma he’s been through — the moment he had this child, he should’ve taken responsibility as a father. Sometimes, it even feels like he treats Rumu better than his own son. He knows Rumu had a terrible father, yet he never reflects on how bad he is as one himself.😬 Also, Quan Jinting (Rumu's dad) is such a loser...

I know people said that it's likely to have a "happy ending" (I just saw several comments saying that). But, I'm still hoping for a happy ending or at least a good ending.

[LAST EPISODE SPOILER]

Basically, Jicai (the FL) returns to the modern era and wakes up at the historical site (the same one from the first episode). All her family members are worried and tell her that she fainted. So, for Jicai, it’s like everything was just a “dream,” and none of her family members remember that they time-traveled.

Meanwhile, Lin Yan, who remains in ancient times, is the only one who remembers the Shen family and their diner. Everyone else forgets their existence. He spends the rest of his life restoring the building as a memento of the Shen family and their memories. Before he dies, he still remembers Jicai. *He's basically a heartbroken-lonely ancient man*💔🤧

In the end, they come across each other in modern times—when Jicai visits the ancestral hall, the future Lin Yan calls out her name.

*future LinYan is the guy in black in the 1st episode
*both FL and ML remember each other
*everyone forgot about the Shen Family, the Shen Diner, including the family members (except FL)

The end…

Yeah, even though both the ML and FL reunited in modern times and remembered each other, erasing everyone’s memories of the Shen family and the Shen Diner completely ruined the story. How can you travel back in time with your family and yet be the only one who remembers it? It kind of ruins the fun. 🥲

Still, I really enjoyed the beginning and middle parts of the show, especially the comedic moments. Also, they should’ve shown more of Jicai and Lin Yan’s married life… I feel so bad for Lin Yan. 😭

Personally, since they time-traveled together as a family and the whole plot revolves around the themes of “family” and “ancestors,” this kind of ending just doesn’t make sense.

Do the leads have a sad ending?
Rather than "sad" or "happy", it's a "bad ending" for me. Also, I never see it as a happy ending for LinYan.

-----------------(SPOILER ALERT)-------------

Before you read my spoiler, let me clarify first: Everyone’s interpretation of a good or bad ending is different. Personally, since I’m disappointed with the ending, I’d say it’s a bad one.

------Here's the spoiler--------

FL and ML—Lin Yan (in the ancient timeline) , don’t get a happy ending. Lin Yan’s last scene shows her dying peacefully while remembering Ji Cai (FL/SSG).
Back in the modern timeline, the FL wakes up after fainting, and her whole family is just like, “Are you okay?” Urghhh... yup, basically it was all just a dream, and none of them (except the FL and ML) remember their past lives. Even the people from ancient times don’t remember the Shen family’s existence.

I think it’s just a case of “nonexistence” for the rest of the characters, while only the two of them remember everything.

The FL and ML cross paths again in modern times—they’re destined to be together there, but not in ancient times, where Lin Yan dies heartbroken and alone.

Why I think it’s a bad ending:
1) What’s the point of this drama if only the FL and ML remember their story? 😂 Just remove the rest of the characters and make the FL the only one who time-travels.
2) We all know how much the Shen family impacted the whole story — even their dumb actions affected the plot. So why did the writer make everyone forget their existence?
3) If I had to describe the ending in one sentence, it’s like... “Haha, it’s a PRANK!”

Knowing how hard it was for them to be together, and how long it took for the Shen family to build their own restaurant, I really don’t like the typical “it was all just a dream” ending. It feels like the writer completely disregarded the other characters who were involved in the story.
I don’t know if the writer wanted to shift the focus just to the ML and FL’s angst, but honestly, it was so unnecessary. If they started the drama as a time-travel family story, then why did the writer end it with only the FL being the one who “experienced” everything? Why?
