Song Weilong is killing me with his modern dramas.😭
I mean, what do you mean he absolutely nailed it in 'Shine On Me' and then went on to amaze me in 'Love For You'?
I've watched most of his modern dramas, and I truly mean it when I say his acting keeps evolving. His portrayal of Chen Yi is sooooo good. ദ്ദി(˵ •̀ ᴗ - ˵ ) ✧
Can you tell me whether the ml starts a relationship with that new girl? I haven't watched yet
Sorry for the late reply! Sure. Actually, he and the new girl aren't officially together. They only went on a date, and it happened in Episode 8. („• ֊ •„)
It's been a while since I cried so much while watching a drama. I cried because it was sad for them, but I cried even more when they were so supportive of each other. I love how they keep their sibling dynamic.
If I could describe their characters: "You are going through a storm in your life with someone who'll support you no matter what".
It's painful but full of warmth. It's sad but beautiful.
I love how they keep their childhood traits while also showing how they're getting stronger in many ways.
Zhang Jingyi's portrayal of Miao Jing is amazing. She's still that timid girl, but she's stronger and learn how to "survive" at an early age. The way she gazes is the same as how she observes the environment as a kid. The way she speaks, responds, thinks, and behaves is very quiet.
Also, personally I think this is the best performance of Song Wei Long (he's doing great, but his portrayal in this drama deserves praise). ChenYi is forced to be "mature" at such a young age, he really gave off BIG BROTHER energy. He's mature, but showing that childish side with MiaoJing and his best friends.
I read your comment earlier on when I decided to watch this drama. Now I usually revisit and reread it when I…
I'm glad you read my comment!
He's incredibly strong, but arrogant. He's selfless but stubborn. He's resolute but self-centered. At the end of the day, even the strongest soldier has his own flaws.
Despite how crazy Yan Po Yue is, his journey is becoming more interesting. There was a part where I said, "This guy is INSANE, but he really is a strong and one-of-a-kind soldier."
IMO: What an amazing start! This drama made a strong first impression on me. I was hooked. The acting is amazing, the pacing is great, and the casting is incredible (seriously... whoever cast this drama deserves so much praise!).
I'm especially impressed by how well they cast the child actors. Both the child and adult actors did an amazing job portraying their characters, making the entire backstory feel authentic and emotionally impactful. I'm especially satisfied with how beautifully the background story was developed.
I've watched up to episode 9, and here's what I think so far...(reply)
[Very Cute Chemistry, but Questionable Writing & Budget That Kind of Wasted the Drama's Potential] Disclaimer: This is just my personal opinion based on my experience watching the drama.
The main reason I started this drama was because of the FL and ML's collaboration. I was so excited to see them work together, but at the same time, I can't help feeling that the drama kind of wasted their potential.
As for the plot, even from the very beginning, I could already see the overall direction of the story. It follows the classic enemies-to-lovers trope, with the two leads gradually healing each other's emotional wounds. They also realize they're attracted to each other fairly early on, which I actually found really cute.
*But tbh, during the first three episodes (I almost dropped the drama), I really didn't like how the writer forced the FL and her family to be the "annoying" type of characters. I understand that the FL is still young, but even at her age, it's perfectly normal for people to be polite, socially aware, and respectful toward older people and professionals. I understand the enemies-to-lovers setup, but making the FL and her parents act so rude toward the doctor felt excessive. I swear they were unbelievably rude and childish. Considering their age, jobs, and educational backgrounds, I don't think the writer should have written them to behave that way.
Thankfully, things got better later on (I think it was around episodes 3–4), when the FL and ML cleared up their misunderstanding and got rid of their bad first impressions.
As for the drama itself, I don't really have any issues with the acting. My main problem is the writing. Some parts feel unprofessional, especially when it comes to the medical aspects.
Speaking of the budget, I really wish they had put in more money and effort, especially considering how popular the FL and ML are. I'm not really sure when they filmed the drama, though. It was released in 2022, so my expectations for the production quality were quite high. The reason I feel the budget was low is that they didn't include many medical scenes, they didn't use musical numbers during the musical scenes (maybe because of music copyright issues...Idk), they didn't film in many different locations (I've seen other medical dramas that mostly take place in hospitals but still show various departments and sets), and they didn't seem to put much effort into the costumes.
Overall, the drama is really cute, but it would have been much better with stronger writing and a bigger budget. As for the chemistry, I absolutely love the chemistry between the FL and ML! I think their pairing is what kept me watching, but aside from that, the drama kind of wasted the potential of this couple.
I'm kinda tired of heavy plot drama since I want to have a little chill me time on weekends, and I happened to come across this newly released drama. I finished 8 episodes yesterday lol... The plot isn't heavy. It's fun to watch, and the romance is so cute. I find QingYe's drunk habit is so cute lol
That particular ID below badger is just a hater. Someone mentioned few days back. that he is fan of another actress…
That acc keeps complaining about everything in this drama, but instead of being critical, it just sounds like hate atp. That ID even said, “Even writing negative comments needs energy” like… no one asked that acc to comment in the first place.
“Villains don’t die easily in this drama,” that acc said. What do you expect? THAT’S the whole point of the drama. The villain DIDN’T die easily because they’ve been controlling that area for YEARS! that’s literally the point.
I don’t even think he/she actually watched it, especially when that ID questioned why Zhanzhao didn’t kill the villain. ISN’T THAT THE WHOLE POINT of why Zhanzhao is an upright official? HE NEEDS TO TAKE THEM TO THE COURT.
I don’t mind critical comments, but that particular question made me realize that that ID didn’t even follow the whole plot.
Episode 13 is such an emotional roller coaster...(which I love it so much) The trio faces huge emotional turbulence. Zhanzhao is exhausted both physically and mentally (basically, he has no one to rely on in this case except Bai Yutang and Linglong). Bai Yutang may seem soft, but he’s hard on himself whenever he wants to protect the people around him, while Linglong, despite her status in the martial arts world, has no idea how cruel and unjust the world outside Huo Manor can be.
Every fighting scene in this drama is top-tier. Last time, the fight scene at the dock had me stunned, but now seeing the fight scene in the rain got me even more excited.
Aside from that, I feel bad for both Zhanzhao and Bai Yutang. They always put others before themselves. I’m glad Linglong is there for them. I love this trio so much... Their chemistry is insane... I guess viewers can see a clear sibling dynamic between Zhanzhao (1st bro), Bai Yutang (2nd bro), and Linglong (Youngest). I'm just hoping this trio achieves what they wanted to do at the end of the episode (and pls be alive lol).
Also, I’m saying this here: I’m glad Yangyang took on an action drama because, tbh, he was made for this. I know it must be hard for an actor to do fight scenes himself while also maintaining the aesthetics of the choreography and everything else. But I feel like over all these years, he’s done so well, and as someone who was waiting for Zhanzhao mainly because of the fight scenes, his amazing performance makes me so happy.
Imo, Zhanzhao kinda topped all of his previous fight scenes in dramas so far. But my top 3 action roles/scenes of his would be: Zhanzhao Adventures, TIA, and GOSF.
Yangyang's action scenes never disappoint. I'm here for the fighting scenes. Also, I didn't expect Zhanzhao and Linglong to have this much chemistry. Even when this drama is not a romantic one, I can feel their chemistry.
