Before you read my spoiler, let me clarify first: Everyone’s interpretation of a good or bad ending is different. Personally, since I’m disappointed with the ending, I’d say it’s a bad one.
------Here's the spoiler--------
FL and ML—Lin Yan (in the ancient timeline) , don’t get a happy ending. Lin Yan’s last scene shows her dying peacefully while remembering Ji Cai (FL/SSG). Back in the modern timeline, the FL wakes up after fainting, and her whole family is just like, “Are you okay?” Urghhh... yup, basically it was all just a dream, and none of them (except the FL and ML) remember their past lives. Even the people from ancient times don’t remember the Shen family’s existence.
I think it’s just a case of “nonexistence” for the rest of the characters, while only the two of them remember everything.
The FL and ML cross paths again in modern times—they’re destined to be together there, but not in ancient times, where Lin Yan dies heartbroken and alone.
Why I think it’s a bad ending: 1) What’s the point of this drama if only the FL and ML remember their story? 😂 Just remove the rest of the characters and make the FL the only one who time-travels. 2) We all know how much the Shen family impacted the whole story — even their dumb actions affected the plot. So why did the writer make everyone forget their existence? 3) If I had to describe the ending in one sentence, it’s like... “Haha, it’s a PRANK!”
Knowing how hard it was for them to be together, and how long it took for the Shen family to build their own restaurant, I really don’t like the typical “it was all just a dream” ending. It feels like the writer completely disregarded the other characters who were involved in the story. I don’t know if the writer wanted to shift the focus just to the ML and FL’s angst, but honestly, it was so unnecessary. If they started the drama as a time-travel family story, then why did the writer end it with only the FL being the one who “experienced” everything? Why?
I don’t like the ending…😕 huftttt they ruined the ending.
I put the spoiler below if you want to see the ending, but a reminder for everyone: Every person’s interpretation of a good or bad ending is different, but I personally think this one was bad.
Imo, if you want to watch it as a "happy"/"good" one, watch it until episode 31 (🥲).
Episode 17–19 are kinda slow, but still okay.Tbh I kinda annoyed with GuoGuo character (no hate for the actress),…
Pheewwww, wow, Xiao Tang, I didn't expect that you will be THIS ANNOYING. I thought she's a better ver of herself, it turns out she's becoming EVEN MORE arrogant.
I'm currently watching episode 9. This might be on my "comfort" drama list. Super funny and entertaining.…
[UPDATE] Jicai’s father is getting more and more annoying—this is beyond my limit. He honestly wouldn’t survive all of this if it weren’t for his wife and daughter. He’s the source of every problem in the family.😩 He’s not a good provider in the modern era, and now that he’s in ancient times, his personality is even more irritating. Number one NPD—he puts his pride above safety and never learns from his mistakes. I just don’t think he’s a good husband in general, let alone a good father. He’s naturally kind, but HIS PERSONALITY... urgh. I don't mind if he's dumb. But being DUMB and ARROGANT is another different story...😑
I'm currently watching episode 9. This might be on my "comfort" drama list. Super funny and entertaining.…
[Update] Finished watching episode 15, and I didn’t expect the plot twist—especially the one about the princess lol. Also, Prince Zhao is obviously controlling Anran. I don’t like the way he abused Anran’s feelings (as a kid who grew up without a family) and forced him to be his “pawn.” Urghhh…😅
I'm currently watching episode 9. This might be on my "comfort" drama list. Super funny and entertaining. The story itself is light, it gives you warmth and laughter. The dynamic of the family is insane, also FL ML chemistry is so cute. Bonus point to the fact that it's a combination of food and romantic comedy drama. Love it so much!
Jicai's father reminded me of my dad. He's annoying, but you can't help but accept and love him (as a family/daughter). --> (update) istg he's more annoying than my dad lol. Jicai and her mother are so kind to him. I can't stand his personality.
Episode 17–19 are kinda slow, but still okay.Tbh I kinda annoyed with GuoGuo character (no hate for the actress),…
I wanted to look up some information on a Donghua fandom website, but I accidentally came across a BIG SPOILER about Ye Xiu’s career journey. Damn, I really didn’t expect that.😅
I don’t think the drama will go that far, but still—it made me question a lot of things. Maybe I’ll start reading the novel after I finish the whole drama.
*I took a moment of silence after seeing that big spoiler lol—Ye Xiu is such an easygoing character, but sometimes his actions make him seem mysterious or complicated. After I saw that spoiler, it convinced me that he’s actually a complicated one lol (not in a negative way).*
Episode 17–19 are kinda slow, but still okay.Tbh I kinda annoyed with GuoGuo character (no hate for the actress),…
[UPDATE] I'm currently on episode 22, and I thought they were starting to figure out their management system as they recruited new members. But I realized their team management is so bad. I know they really need new members, but I don’t think this kind of approach is proper. They should have stated at the beginning of the recruitment contract that they are a new team. It’s like when new startups or businesses recruit interns — they usually make it clear that their company is new and may lack resources.
I’m so frustrated, but then I realized that the team itself isn’t familiar with how a formal company works. Huft…🤧
Episode 17–19 are kinda slow, but still okay.Tbh I kinda annoyed with GuoGuo character (no hate for the actress),…
Watched Until Episode 20... I have some questions... 1) Why is Su Muqiu able to invent weapons? It's definitely different from any other character's weapons. (I was assuming he experimented with upgrading and combining rare materials, but I don't know.) 2) Why can Su Muqiu create a map? I don't remember him being the inventor of the game... or did I miss details about how players can create maps?
Omg yes, I hate GuoGuo’s character (now I’m on episode 19 and I’m still annoyed by her). Xiao Tang started…
I need to prepare myself for this lol... What makes me even more irritated is the fact that Chen Guo gets so much screen time, and most of it is just her being loud and annoying!!!!😬 I get your point though—most of these characters definitely have ego issues (so true).🤣
When I first started this drama, I didn’t expect the male lead, Ye Qiu (YeXiu), to be this humble and silly. He never really provokes anyone unless they really get on his nerves. So far, my favorite character after Ye Xiu is Su Mu Cheng (the Su siblings are both great). Yifan, Shao Tian, Luo Ji, and Rong Xing are also really supportive and kind. I just hope they don’t turn annoying in the later episodes...😭
So I guess the character of Chen Guo is supposed to be funny but honestly she's only been ANNOYING so far (on…
Omg yes, I hate GuoGuo’s character (now I’m on episode 19 and I’m still annoyed by her). Xiao Tang started off as super arrogant, but she actually turns out to be kind and pretty chill.
Started this drama several days ago, and it’s so much fun!Now I’m on episode 16, and there are several questions…
Episode 17–19 are kinda slow, but still okay. Tbh I kinda annoyed with GuoGuo character (no hate for the actress), I just don't like how "wishi-washy" her character was, especially in those episodes...
-------- little spoiler on why I kinda hate her (GuoGuo) character in this drama -----------
She's been through quite a lot of things with YeXiu and Xiao Tang, she clearly knew their "ambition". Other example, in the previous episode, she's the one who asked YeXiu to "train" Xiao Tao, but at the end of the day, she's being SO SULKY with them playing games together. Gurl, what do you want? She's also the one who voluntarily be the boss but the way she works just a BIG NO for me. She's so unprofessional (I wonder why tho, she's been managing internet cafe for so long but her leadership wasn't really shown even after 19 episodes). She constantly need other people to motivate her (IYKYK).
I knew she's kind and "strong" in her own way, but the way she handles problems annoys me so much. Sometimes I feel like she's putting herself and others in difficult position. It's also the reason why YeXiu is kinda "hard" on her when she "accidentally" risked their newly built guild’s existence. Even if YeXiu chose her to be the "boss" of the team, he clearly stated that it's a hard position that you can't simply go for just because you have the "courage" or "drive". GuoGuo is someone who's easily distracted and judges actions with her emotions, so things like this make me annoyed. //I hate her drama character not the actress don't worry//
Also, I feel like some of her scenes are unnecessary (I saw several live comments who also think the same). It would be nice if they made the pace for episode 17–19 faster (in a good way). It's better to focus on the main story rather than put too much side story which I don't think is necessary for the main plot.
------- done with spoilers ----------
Still, the drama was so much fun! Can't wait to see YeXiu's real comeback!
Started this drama several days ago, and it’s so much fun!
Now I’m on episode 16, and there are several questions and assumptions in my head: 1) I was wondering why Ye Qiu decided to let go and publicly announce his retirement—just because he didn’t want to let his old friend (aka the selfish boss) down?🤔 → I thought he was going to “clash” with him or take “revenge” through a statement. → As I’m commenting while watching, and seeing Ye Qiu’s personality, I assume he’s the soft type—super laid-back in many ways. He never really takes revenge on people, but instead upgrades himself and “slaps” them with his capability and achievements.
Maybe I’ll find the answer as I watch more episodes.😆
Notes: At first, I was a bit hesitant to watch this drama because of the dubbing. But it turns out really good—the dubbing didn’t bother me much at all. I love the plot! What I didn’t expect was that I’d actually be more annoyed by the non-villain characters lol. The villains are absolutely annoying but still tolerable, since Ye Qiu is smart and wise enough to handle those jerks.
Also, I didn’t expect Ye Qiu to be this silly and easygoing! I thought his character would be super strict or hard on himself, but it turns out he’s so, so, so laid-back—to the point where people around him question his “ambition.” 😂 He’s always been ambitious, but his easygoing personality hides it well.
Might start this drama in a few days... Currently watching The King’s Avatar. I realized that I’ve watched a lot of Yang Yang’s dramas this year—some of them were new for me, and some I rewatched. I haven’t seen this one yet, but the cast lineup is insane! Imagine having this kind of lineup in 2025—the budget would blow up lol.🤣
I saw some clips of Wu Lei and Tang Songyun on TikTok, and it turns out Yang Yang, Bai Jingting, and Hu Bingqing are also part of this drama. There are several supporting actors and actresses I’m familiar with as well. Super excited!👏😆

I’m not the type of person who watches a drama just because of the heat index, but this one truly deserves its high heat index. Despite having minimal promotion and no proper release announcement, it’s absolutely worth watching!
I love the plot, and everyone nailed their acting. Also, I’ve never wanted a “divorce era” so badly until I watched this drama. I want to see Hao Ming bawling his eyes out and APOLOGIZING to her. She really doesn’t deserve all those evil people in her life.
I know this story is from the FL’s POV, but knowing Hao Ming’s background and power just makes me so angry. I’m waiting for their angst era, and I’ll probably end up sobbing for Xuyan.
