The series was going ok, up until the "drunken rape" trope. It's so sad, IMO, that now the Taiwanese BLs are using…
Well in that case the 2nd relationship isn't far behind. XLC is basically serial sexual harasser (started as as child with LMF and now is doing it to TMR). Both LMF and TMR were not ok with what was happening to them but XLC had to push it so that his wants are satisfied.
Oh man, this show has all kinds of issues. but I still like it. Three out of the four leads are super likeable,…
I think that XLC is also problematic - he is basically serial sexual harasser. He started young with LMF (I hate that people don't seem to see this kind of behavoiur in children as problematic - this shows them that other's body autonomy doesn't matter) and "graduated" to among other things to unwated touching of TMR (even before the whole fake BL relationship). Let's don't forget that LMF told him directly that she did not want the flowers and she would have avoided him till death, so what did he do? Did he respected her point of view? Reflected on his past behaviour? Why should he - it's only his wants that matter.
Yea i also think the same after everything the step brother is intelligent according to me but he lacks manners…
I am wondering how med school is part of his plan. So far I get the rape (condone but I think I understand the twisted logic of it): not only for the father to not think that it was YXS "corrupting" FYJ but for the YXS to acknowledge his feelings for FYJ. He is definitly very smart as he started the plan early on: a) not chaging the surname (he was 10 when the partent married O.O) b) investing (successfuly!) so that he could provide (=protect) for YXS c) bartending lessons in HS (just to get YXS) d) he seems to be doing well at school - perhaps he want's to graduate earlier and that's why the doesn't take part in activities (excluding the fact that he doesn't seem to care about anybody but XYS and maybe his mom)?
Instead, it managed to transfer the ire of the fans onto the writer and director. LOL.
The series have not even aired half of the episodes, so I hope they will address this issue - as it's something that sadly happens regardles of gender (on both sides). I have big faith in the writers from Taiwan - they make better and better series, so hopefuly this will not end up beeing romanticised/swept under the rug.
That is obviously Yong Jie's disturbed rationale, but it doesn't justify a damn thing...
Agreed - there is no justification to what he did (as I exapnded on in my long post below). I tried not to be too specific in my original coment to avoid spoiling :)
My thoery on "the night" is that it's part of the plan to make stepdad transfer negative feelings to FYJ.
I feel like this season has "consent" and it's consequences as main topic. Drunken s*x means that there was no consent and that leads straight to rape. What FYJ did to YXS is going to leave a scar for the whole life - that's not something you do to the person you TRULY love. FYJ also broke in to the appartment without letting anybody know and since TMR could smell him it must have made him feel uneasy - it's also a big violation as one should at least feel safe at home. Continuing TMR road without consent: he did not agreed at the begining to the whole fake relationship but still XLC - let's face it - forced/coerced him to it and to some unwanted touching (it was happening even before the charade: like when he was pulling TMR's pants to compare their d*ck sizes). This leads to another case of lack of consent - going trough somebody's phone and using it's contend. Which as we know from the trailer [most likely] will lead to attempted rape of TMR. LMF had to face the issue serveral times as well: co-worker read note attached to the flowers wihout her consent, XLC was - surprise, surprise - violating her body's autonomy as child repeadly which lead to her deciding to avoid/not talk to him. XLC shows that if you don't learn as a child what is consent and that you should respect other peoples personal space you end up not respecting it as an adult (=sexsual harassment). I am not sure if XLC allowed LMF to talk with the female co-worker about his "feelings" for TMR. So for me the worst at the moment are (ex aequo): a) FYJ (on his plus side: he doesn't lie), b) XLC (he is a "serial" harasser and lier). Definitely better than them are (more or less ex aequo): a) LMF (she lost some brownie ponts for pushing XLC - he should "court" at his own pace), b) TMR (he is not crystal clear for his part in the whole lie/trying to trick LMF). For now the best is YXS (still he is aware of the whole LMF deception and doesn't even try to talk them out of it + he was supposed to go with FYJ after the fight but his buddy appeard so he kicked his brother to the curb = not cool).
OK, I'm mixed about this. The additonal ending made me cry, but I was also cringing a little - it was a bit cloying…
Actually it was basically what was in the manga (it's only 5,5 chapters): - lost - and then on the string - wedding ring; - getting young as he oppened the door; - the hallway with the line; - even the airplane. What was missing is that, in manga, Akira died when he was 59 years old (Yuki died at 82), so that's why Yuki was so happy to finally meet him again. The last 2 songs on the extended ending were nice but I simply love the one that was in original version (and in this was at the ending credits) - "Last Ambient".
