I think it’s difficult for writers to execute a novel inspired drama 100% for many reasons.
One of the is commercial reasons and that these are different medias with different audience/readers. They have a lot think about to make money and create a buzz.
Some of the books are not even popular or talked about, so how can they make money out of them without dramatising it?
Thats why it says “novel inspired” and gets screenwriters on top of the author of the book.
Novel readers should understand this, also it will be just downright “plagiarism” and render screenwriters useless.
Even with true stories, they add drama to make the audience interested, because it’s not a documentary.
I’m not sure if you watched The King Woman, which is based on true story, they added the FL storyline which did not exist in history, to keep viewers interested.
So, people should never expect the same novel writing in dramas.

It’s like thinking freedom of speech laws come with now restrictions and consequences.
