Everyone is saying Aye is so selfish in this one, but I think it was quite ok. He is a bit annoying and not really considerate of what he says but it's nothing too bad and he never actually acts up on it. If anything, I think that was a very cute sequel!
I'm a bit sad they didn't show us a cute intimate scene with Jie and Leslie at the end. It was such a big topic for Leslie and we never got to see him comfortable with sex, and it would have been a nice conclusion regarding his acceptance of Jie's hiv.
I'm on ep 2 and I've read that I must wait a bit before it gets good, but I need to get something off my chest: how frustrating it is that there are no real strict rules. They've been going on about how aweful the rules are, how important it is to follow them, how painful it is to have to follow the rules gna gna gna.... And then the only real rules we see are the uniform, no phone on school site, no smoking inside and no being late, which are like the most basic rules in any asian school ever. And so far, what did people get when they did not follow them? A small scold or a warning, no actual consequence, except for that group of 3 people who got targeted by the "curse" twice. It is reaaaaaaaaaaally hard to take Akk's, or actually anyone's actions and words seriously when the most crucial point of the story doesn't take itself seriously
I don't know if anybody feels the same, but I don't really like how arrogant is Kant. Style is a bit crazy and over confident, but I really felt how he actually gradually fell in love with Fadel. As for kant, I feel like he is always acting too cocky, which makes it hard to believe he is actually falling for Bison. Even with how romantic he is with him on ep 6, I don't really feel the sincerity in it. Maybe it's because of the dialogues (which I find are really bad) or the fact that most of the time when we have a close shot of his face with Bison, it's to show he feels guilty or scared, but we rarely get a shot were he actually looks fond of him, and all the other moments he just acts arrogant. Is it just me? (And I know it's not because of First's actual acting, because he's proven many times he can show love)
Can you recommend me shows with similar style? Thx
I think the recommendation below is very good and both dramas are really similar to this one, but I'll add some in case you're looking specifically for japanese ones. If you like the nostalgic vibe with a time skip I suggest: - Tokyo in april is... - Love is better the second time around - The end of the world, with you If you're looking for a young love where they try to figure out their feelings and place in this world: -Smells like green spirit -Hidamari ga kikoeru -Shujin-ko If you liked the sad aspect of it and want to have a good cry: -Eternal Yesterday -Happy of the end -Jack o Frost I'd say the biggest thing that all these dramas have in common with Our Youth is that they go over pretty serious topics (like homophobia, violence, parent abuse, death, etc...) and that the main characters are mostly sad lol. I enjoyed them all so I'm sure you'll find something of your taste!
I've been trying to find a drama with the same vibes as My school president and We are. This looks like it's similar so I want to give it a try, but something I really couldn't stand in those two shows was how it became long and boring after the couples knew they liked each other, so I'd like to avoid it. Should I watch this?
I completely agree. Rio in the manga is not like that. she really appears to be in love with Takamine. the drama…
I didn't take the Actress' age into consideration but you're right, that might be a factor too. Tho it also happens in other shows with actress who are much older. I haven't read the Manga, but since I liked the trope, I might give it a try !
What in the world was that bed scene? Like I get it Rio would be nervous as this was probably her first time, but here she looked straight up terrified and didn't reciprocicate a single move. I felt like I was watching her getting assaulted. It's not the first time I watch a japanese romance were the woman (or bottom in case of BL) doesn't move a single bit during kisses or intimate scenes, and since the targeted public for these shows are straight women and they want them to relate to the MC, it makes me wonder if that's how the gerneral public of japanese women see themselves or think a relationship should be. Or, as the director here (and in many others) is a guy, is that how the general japanese men want the women to be? And if not, I'd love to hear from japanese people what they think of this tendency in romance shows. Anyway, I've seen a lot but no other show ever made me as uncomfortable as this one in term of intimacy.
i need a season 2 . . . are there any other good J BL dramas that are like this?
If you're looking for something with a "slightly toxic but ends up cute" vibe with a few spicy scenes I suggest: -My beautiful man (my favorite jbl ever) -The end of the world, with you -Tokyo in April is... -Doku koi, doku mo sugireba koi to naru (no spices for this one tho, just cute hugs and kisses) If you're looking for a dynamic where one of the lead is obsessed with the other, I suggest: -Senpai, danjite koi de wa -Kabe Koji -BL drama no shuen ni narimashita And here are other JBLs that don't have the same plot or characterization at all but kinda give me the same vibe: -Love is better the second time around -Perfect propose -Ameiro Paradox I'm suggesting these based on their resemblance with My Weatherman, but that doesn't mean I enjoyed them all. Still, I think you should give them a try and get your own idea :)
I was so pissed how the whole show and audience aknowledges that Vee is a red flag because he was indecisive, let himself be in a situation where it looked like he was cheeting on Mark, made him wait countless times, but no one talks about how he cheeted on Ploy in the first place. There is a whole sad Vee arc where the writers try to get empathy from us because Ploy cheeted on him, but the whole time I was just internally screaming "I don't care! cry all you want, you did the exact same thing to her!" and it's not adressed a SINGLE TIME in the entire show. Would have written a essay about it but then the rest just got plain boring so I'm leaving it a that lol
Alright, knowing that they are making a much shorter version of Lita, I knew there would be a lot of shortcuts, and I think the one they did in that episode was rather smart, but still I felt robbed. In the original version, I loved the scene where Rain runs to Payu to kiss him after the race. At that point, they have been in a relationship for some time and are already deeply in love with each other, and I remember thinking this scene was so powerful because they both genuinely only cared about each other: Rain was super excited and proud of Payu and Payu also thought only about Rain at that moment and didn't even glance at the other guy (I don't remember his name). Here, they decided to combine it with the scene where Rain told Payu about his project, so it feels quite underwhelming compared to the original as they are not a couple yet. Rei telling Arashi about his project at that moment makes him selfcentered and not concerned by Arashi's achievements, and Arashi looking back at the other guy just makes him arrogant, even more that the camera is focused on Rei so we don't see at all how excited is Arashi to see him. So yeah, we completely lost the chemistry we had in the original one. The NC was ok I guess but once again, they tried to mix both scenes from the original so in the end it's not as sweet as the first one, because Rei doesn't say it's his first time or doesn't seem so anxious about it, and it's not as hot as the second one because still it's their first time together so it wouldn't make sense that they are already so comfortable with each other. So yeah, ok but boring. Also I'm not fond of pillow princess bottoms and Rei is exactly that: just laying there looking pretty while Arashi does everything. Meh.
So far so good, though some scenes felt a bit out of place and I'm not sure if it's because of the never ending music that take so much space (litterally I think there's almost no scene without music and once you've noticed it it's so annoying) or because of some awkward dialogues. Either way, it's still very enjoyable and I'm excited for the next episode
