Does anyone find the actor for Qing Yu/Gao Meng Fei give So Ji Sub vibes?? Loving the bromance in this drama ... but agree with others that the female lead needs to emote better/have more character development asap. I'm just not feeling her growth and its frustrating because I really really want her as a badass FL.
On a side note, the ending of the novel was not a happy one. Potentially the drama will be different but I've been seeing hints here and there that they may be going down the same route.
I felt so sad that The Smile Has Left You Eyes was such an under-rated drama ... but now with all these awards giving it more attention, I know its also paving the way for more criticism because of the high expectations that have been set. Omo .... cant win! Please go in with an open mind, yes it's a remake but adapted to the korean audience so uniquely stands apart from the Japanese original in my opinion. And the music ... omg!! Had that on replay for days!!
I do not agree: "Beautiful Vampire" is a beautiful vampire movie, an indie and art film with the best OST ever.…
Agree! Very different to what I thought it was going to be - but pleasantly surprised they turned the usual tropes into something a bit more interesting ! Go into it with no expectations. Love the Male actress ... her suffering felt so funny and real at the same time
This is fantastically absurd ... not quite Stephen chow level but definitely heart warming characters and the plotline keeps you interested! Give it a go! I love the main actress! P.s. the bad acting is intentional!
Absolutely agree with your article- and love the additional insights on the flaws. I had a good giggle as they were fleshed out! This drama started off exceptionally well but then fizzled near the end. Would I watch a season two ... only if Daniel Choi got a love line!
Wow this was amazing! I feel like I just did a course on cinematography/metaphors hahaha ... thank you! I did end up dropping this drama because it was so intense and the slow periods just dragged, but I'm going to pick it up again after your insights and tips of an episode a day/two days. Please do more of these posts! Cant Express how grateful I am that you're sharing all this!! Might you next consider The Smile has Left your Eyes ... hehehe Much love xoxoxo
I think although both are the same story, the execution and characters are very unique. Both are absolutely amazing but I personally connected more with the Korean adaptation.
I have commented before that i love this drama but like the only thing that bugs me is the premise of their relationship…
I think the last episode really came full circle with all these doubts I had about their relationship - just like you I didnt understand the point of Seung Ah and I felt Jin Kang kinda disrespected her by being with Moo Young afterwards, but after knowing their history as kids and that they probably had a subconscious link to this (MY photographic memory) it made their actions more realistic and understandable (not necesarrily justified). MYs comment about how he felt like he'd been played like a toy all his life helps us see how he really didnt give a sh*t about himself - or anyone else until JK came into his life. I've rewatched this drama twice and picked up so many things in the earlier episodes which I missed. This and Bloody Romance are the best dramas for me this year! Highly recommend both!
When I watch this drama I find myself constantly pausing it, especially in recent episodes, because I just need…
Agreed! I've replayed so many scenes over and over and am amazed at Seo In Guk ... hes a completely different person in almost every drama he is in! I love all the small gestures and expressions. They are truly living their roles! I hope this gets better ratings - it totally deserves more attention and love!!
Seo In Guk is killing his role (possible pun intended) I cannot imagine another actor in his range that can make you love, fear and root for his romance with Jung So Min. I've read the ending for the Japanese version and to be honest it makes me want to see this drama to the end to see if this can give the characters an alternate (happy please!!) ending. If you have a sensitive palate you may want to wait until the end to give this a go, but if you have an open mind and a hopeful heart (and a sucker for multi-layered characters looking for redemption!!) Then I highly recommend watching this. Acting, music, plot ... DAEBAK!
Filming to begin on Dec 2018 and the cast selection process is currently underway. Normally I don't create an…
This sounds really good! After BR I think it can be a quite the hit and miss for "newbie" actors ... do you know of any English translation of the source novel ?
I don't believe Changan was ever engaged to her - I think the "groom" was meant to mean something like "horseman/driver" similar to shadow role as a protector/labourer. I'm excited for more accurate subs in October OMG!!
Highly recommend this drama !! Daniel choi is killing it (pun intended) without the glasses lol the first 4 (8?) Episodes had me sitting at the edge of my seat with blankets ready to cover my face lol DAEBAK!!
You could say it's a sad ending but with a potential for season 2 and a happy ending!! None of the male leads…
I didn't find any episodes draggy. In fact I'd be watching each episode atleast twice lol once without subs and again with subs and I'm always picking up stuff I missed. I don't want to overhype this drama. You just gotta check it out with an open mind!
On a side note, the ending of the novel was not a happy one. Potentially the drama will be different but I've been seeing hints here and there that they may be going down the same route.
