agree!!! but I hope season 2 will be, even if later, at list I wish they dont cancel it.
this drama isn't only best Asian drama (for me at list) and most unusual (I can't remember anything even little similar) but it is also really unusual worldwide - I mean except of GOT what can you remember with similar time period and similar universe? this pre historical time is really rare in tv series and movies. Plus with so amazing and complex plot-characters-acting

I have problem with reason - why he falls for her or she falls for him. Though this is really good, high quality drama, with amazing edit and cinematography, good acting and every reason to feel for characters, see chemistry, for me it's kind of misses something big/main from the beginning: ML is in love already in first ep, FL has feelings in 3rd ep, so soon we can't understand their reasons:

What he saw soo soon (almost without any interaction/communication), or what she saw while being in love with other and quite happy.
When you are getting married, really like/love your fiance, are happy and always smiling, there should be something really big to change it and start feeling for 15 year old (it's not only about taboo, but common things, understanding, which is more usual with same age people, and if there is big age/social gap there should be some big reasons, strong emotional changes, not only liking same poem, few meetings alone and hear "I love you" from teenager). Plus FL seems quite strong person, not usual naive/childish female from dramas, she knows what she wants, she really likes (I think loves, but I'm used to see in dramas when main lead then "discovers" that "it wasn't real love", because she/he was not main but second lead and real love should only be once in life and for main lead) her BF, so someone like her/in her situation there should be really big things to start changing feelings.

If they didn't rushed with main leads feelings, give them more time and reasons to see each other, feel, understand each other and then start loving, this would be perfect drama.

as long as I've seen yet father is the annoying one... always on FL's side... he was so wrong to his son before accident but after it was just unbelievable... someone ruined your only son's life and you still bring her home and want from everyone (especially son) to treat her well? WTF?

I'm watching ep 5th and can't understand how main leads can turn in romantic love? as usual it is opposite - ML should treat FL as bad as you can't even imagine, but then they became happy couple in love. Here it's FL who makes ML's life hell...
So why Asian drama makers (especially lakorns) have this need to show soo deep hate, so much bad between leads before they fall in love?
In general I liked hate to love relationships, but in Lakorns I saw level that is beyond everything, no return points, deepest hate and most awful treatment (how ML's treat FL's like slaves in many lakorns), here is same....
I know FL will change here, but what can she do to equal all this, especially when ML never had romantic feelings (when both attract each other but have issues, fights, it can be somehow developed). So why on earth should fall in love ML to person who never liked as girl (and said that never would see her as girl) even before he hated her?
I just don't understand so extremal "love"/hate plot....

Some of you would ever fall in love to someone who you hate to the bones, who made your happy life miserable? Plus who never was attractive for you romantically?

from your review FL seems like classic weak female, who is kind to abusers to the highest annoying level... but in tugs I see "strong female lead", I searched lakorns with 2 tags: strong FL and real kisses (I'm so tired with super fake not visible kisses).

I remember that "explanation" but for my taste it's very primitive and cliche which is ok for many primitive dramas but didn't worked for serious high quality drama like this... my thoughts ^^

yes you understand/forgive who you love, but problem is this "love" when and why it started? she showed love to SML and it was honest/natural, we could feel chemistry and then suddenly... I love ML, feel sad for him (actually I started drama liking only that actor) but I didn't liked development, it wasn't logical and consistent... they should show transition - how/when/why her heart changed...

where's the reason for FL to start having feelings to ML???? she was soo in love and without reason becomes cold to him and warm to ML who treats her like trash???

I would love to see reasonable hate to love (that's why I watch lakorns like this) and ex BF / big love is rare in lakorns and great bonus, makes story more interesting, relationship more complex and good/real reason of good old jealousy (not for misunderstanding but real reason for jealousy which is always better)....
but they made FL start liking ML too soon, and more importantly without 0 reason for it (she should be disgusted about him). Also if they wanted to end her love so soon they should not show it as real/big love in the beginning

finally new drama of Shin sung rok but why SML again? :(

I'm on ep 2 and already disappointed ... After Kleun Cheewit I fell in love with Yaya and thought this lakorn would be equally good, she has again strong, famous, self confident and good dressed character, same director, not law budget and even better looking ML who is her long time partner in dramas and real life,
but... I had already so many cringes with plot, so many primitive-illogical plot details and dialogues, unnecessary actions, not good/natural acting... Marring crowned princes to usual soldier like this... c'mon... couldn't they think something little more realistic, there are many ways to have them together and develop romance, and king and princes practically begging this soldier for marriage... so many other stupid things...
I know it's soap opera and lakorn (not even kdrama) but still, many lokorns with much law quality have 10 times better/logical plot, details, dialogues and acting....

great article and important subject, very problematic in Asian dramas...
I would add that another fact that genders aren't equal in sexual matters is visible with shy, virgin and too innocent female characters.
in almost every drama Female should be "never kissed", she should never been in love, maybe on some dates but almost never touched, it's always her first love, if loved one kisses her she should be blushed and "get angry", like it's something bad. Women never initiate kiss and of course sex, if their men want it they always say "no" and if agree - it's like doing something for man, like it's shame for woman to want kiss or/and sex.
Even some scenes mentioned here as examples of forced intimecy (I'm not saying it's good) often are forced because it's like "the way it should be", I mean even if the girl also wants she should act like she doesn't want otherwise she isn't pure/good/innocent/decent or IDK...
So why should women always be like that? if female lead had other love stories, other bf's, if she shows that she wants more physical with man she likes/loves; Even if likes another boy before truly understand-get together with ML (I mean SML, it's always that way, SML likes FL but she never sees him, even if she still doesn't sees ML too/is super single, even liking another man is taboo) - all that mean female lead is bad?

for me this is more sexism then many (light) forced kisses or obsessive ML's because we at list have choice like that kind MLs/dramas see them sexy or abusive or not, but for female leads there is only pure innocent architype ...

this is my first lakorn of this couple, and second of Yaya (I'm in love with her, amazing girl) and I read that they admitted dating since 2011, so when you shipped them and hoped, they already were old couple )))) hope you were happy with that news (as I remember I read it was announced in 2019)

Agree! I think FL would be good character if not sudden changes (which ruined not only her character, also whole plot's balance, logic).
I like, understand and think as quit unfortunate character SML, but ML is more tragic (especially when we know previous life), I mean even without ending SML also wasn't "happy character", but ending... ruing their soulmate chemistry was horrible, even if they wouldn't be together she shouldn't change love interest. FL & SML like Romeo/Juliete (together or separated but in love) and ML tragic with unrequited love would be much epic.

yees, now I remembered that out of nowhere stupid plot turn of "parents murderer"... +/- 10 episodes were so high level drama and then so bad decisions... not only romance part but also primitive forced ways of making "other guy" more bad...

OMG I like your version so much and I remembered thinking something like that while finishing drama. something to show main characters that ML wasn't monster after all (for justice feel) but still make him tragic character till the end. In last episodes I would make ML more dark, I mean seen from people around him more bad person, judged by others and then some big heroic act what would everyone see him as tragic hero (it's always so sad, to see truth too late) and in last episode show 3rd life and leave that life as open ending (we don't know would they repete fates or not) or as you said they would live that life all separately ...

I wonder what was in first version before changing writer ))

P.S. as you see/feel that drama exactly same, like/dislike same things, I'm sure you would have same thoughts and tastes in many other drama, so if you remember something (not necessarily same) with similar vibe/quality/interesting characters and relationships, would be happy if you recommend :)

I'm not saying I hate ML, on opposite I loved him the way he was in both lives, damaged, dark and someone who makes you feel so sad because of him, sad because you see his point of view but world around him and woman who he loves can't see it... it makes him more interesting and unforgetable character and I even like that he is ML... usually that kind of gray (morality/actions) characters are SMLs and I love them as usual )))) he was much better as interesting 3D character then other guy. But I liked 3 (6) of them and their relationship, their "fates" as it was developing from the beginning.... It would be so great if they didn't end up like this, not make FL fall for ML, maybe not even happy ending, maybe ML would kill SML or opposite, sad ending would fit even better.
I often don't like "fate" thing, when it's so predictable, when characters should repete their life, personality and love story in every reincarnation, it's often primitive, but in this story and how it developed would perfect and more "something to think about" exactly this fatal repetetive fate, especially for ML (I feel cruel to say it but for story it would be more epic)...

I didn't say primitive about country, I said it about some tv soap operas and it's my thought, I have right to like or don't like anything. Also I have right and it's very logical for today, to be shocked about women discriminating things I've seen so many in dramas relised 2013-4 or later... it's just not normal for me and many many people... it's sad that 70 years ago women were treated like this... and now we at list have right to say it's bad...
