Title Be Yourself
This is just a fun series. I'm a fan of OP characters. If the character is arrogant, all the better. LIke yes, I can and will kick your ass if you look at me wrong. The harem was typical. But I did like two of the three women. I was happy when the 3rd finally got the talking to she had coming. Lots of action, which is why I picked it. 24 eps in, I hope to have more.

i find it unbelievable that she still wanted to be with him after this.
That's fine. That doesn't work for you, like her attitude didn't work for me. We judge things by what makes sense to us.

Not me. If she still wanted to follow her "brother" after his betrayal, then she could still be with her man. Especially after she realized just how dangerous and cruel her brother was, not to mention obsessed. She saw that her man was right all along. The bastard wasn't worth saving.

Title The Rise of Ning Spoiler
Well, the credit cartoon gave the whole plot away, but I still watched for the fun bits. I'll say that I enjoy an obsessed stalker yearning for the love/possession of their prey. So that kept me entertained and would have liked it to be more obsessed like the guy in Wonderland of Love.

I enjoyed the romance blooming, but hated how she kept calling him 3rd brother. Like... STOP THAT!

The intrigue was nice, plots were shady. I wanted the ML to have a mad obsessed lover too. I'm on. Ep. 35 now, but it doesn't look like that will happen.

What I'd love to see is when a parent tries to force a child into a marriage they don't want, that child threatened them by saying "if you make me marry them, I WILL make you regret it. I'm bringing the whole family down with me."

And with the second couple. All dude gotta tell his parents is "Fine, you won't let me marry the woman I love, then I'm going to become a monk. No grandkids for you and I'm the end of the line. Enjoy the family name while it lasts."

Watch them change their minds then.

Title Romance of a Twin Flower Spoiler
All I'm saying is, Miss Thang has a lot of damn nerve telling the General to marry her sister, who he's said he doesn't have feelings for, all because her sister likes the General. But she won't take the leap of faith to marry the man she loves because of her old family feud that happened before she was born.

Like, practice what you preach. She's willing to give up her once in a lifetime romance because ppl told her it would never work, even though it was. But got the nerve to ignore the Generals feelings as she pressures him into marriage with her sister.

So, her sister is a settlement. He doesn't really want her, but can't have the one he does want. Everyone was smiling about his decision but him. That's how you end up in a loveless marriage.

I would have told her. "I'll marry your sister, who I don't have any feelings for, if you marry the man you love." See what she says then.

Thank you for finally saying it!! This is the one thought that always popped into my head while watching the show!…
I know right. I wouldn't have bothered to save my father or brothers if there was no love between us. If the only memories I have of you are painful and cruel, you become bad bargaining chips to me.

Can't anybody call me up talking about "give up money if you want your father back." I'm like "keep him ." Then I'm hanging up and calling the police. But just to report a threat, not the kidnapping or ransom. 😂

Yeah, we can end this roundabout. But it's not that I don't understand her POV. It's just that I don't agree with it. I wouldn't be blaming someone for doing what he did had I'd been in that situation. So, I don't relate.

I related to what he did. I loved that he didn't help anyone else but who he loved. Who didn't screw him and his over.

Same way that I can understand why a villain does what they do, like Killmonger, and not agree with all of his actions.

She can blame him all she wants. I just didn't agree that he was obligated to save her brother.

And when she was betrayed, I laughed, because her and her father were like "how could he work with our enemy against us". And I'm like... Well... He did it before. He worked with Sun Jing, but that time, it wasn't against you. It's his thing. 😂

But okay, let's say he had saved her brother after the betrayal. How was that supposed to play out because him and his army wanted dude dead. They were also badly wounded. So, was he supposed to nurse him back to heath AGAIN and then kill him? Or did she expect him to let them go. Let it slide? Yeah, that wild.

Oh, I get it. Trust me. But when I'm taking in a story, I also judge the characters about what I think is logical. So, her pain comes from it being the man she loved. But he and his army were hurting too. Her brother was of no concern to him just like he was of no concern to her brother. Even after the betrayal, she was sticking with her brother. That's how they got caught the second time.

See, me, that would have gave me pause. Because if someone risked their lives to save mine, what I'm not going to do or abide is harming them in return. I would have left him and at least joining my father's brigade at that point. I can't stand ppl who stab others who are kind to them in the back.

Yeah, it upset her, but because it didn't happen TO her, she still found a way to forgive her brother. Until he betrayed her. Then it was all bets off.

Theirs is a complicated love and so entertaining to watch. I don't blame him for not wanting to be the crown prince, though. Ugh, what a destiny.

I wouldn't have bothered to save him either. Not after what he did. No matter how easy it would have been. Her brother made himself his enemy with his betrayal. He stopped being just "her brother " at that point.

She can't experience his pain because she didn't have to suffer it. And like you said, "all is fair in love and war and her army benefitted" . So taking that into consideration, his initial reaction to her is just.

But we know now that she has experienced her brother's level of betrayal, she probably wished he had died in that river.

You know what's wild. If Shiqi had let his father, who hates him, die at the hands of Sun jing, then, his brothers wouldn't be a foil, he could have defeated Sung jing, put the Imperial Grandson on the throne, with his mom acting as Regent, and married his woman and returned to Laolan Pass.

But Nooooo, he had to be too damn filial. And now he has to be too damn bothered. 😂

A person could feel wronged. Ppl feel wronged all of the time. There is whole reddit "Am I The Asshole" because the OP didn't do something someone wanted them to do and those ppl feel like the OP is an asshole.

So, the man she loved didn't save her brother. That's as far as she took it. And that alone, to her, justified her being angry with him. Just like she was angry about that. Thinking he was heatless. He has the same right to think she may have betrayed him since that's where her loyalties lied.

Once he calmed down and thought about it. He realized he was wrong to assume that of her. Has she considered that she may have been asking too much of him to save her brother who betrayed him?

He brother revealed to her what kind of a man he is. She was angry that he did what he did, but she didn't really look at his character. He is a man who will do anything to get what he wants. That's what her boyfriend saw in her brother. That's what stayed his hand.

I did she her POV, which is why I don't agree with it. I don't consider her thinking her boyfriend should have saved her brother AGAIN after her brother hurt him so badly.

She can feel pain that her brother "died" but she shouldn't blame him for it. It was unreasonable to me. Instead of stabbing the ML in the back, her brother should have been tracking down her cousin who tried to kill them the first time.

She didn't look at the situation from the ML POV, only from her own pain.

Even his soldiers wouldn't have wanted to save all of them after that betrayal. They were worried that he even saved her and wondered why he was still willing to work with her and her army again.

So, I saw it from both POVs.

You pretty much nullified your own point. You are only looking at it from the FL PoV.

Yes, they are falling in love. But she has lied to him and tricked him several times where he's found that charming and challenging.

Her brother is special only to her and her army. He was never friendly with ML and I'm sorry, but after that level of betrayal, he owes her brother nothing. He risked his life and the lives of his soldiers who trust him, to save them the first time. And her brother's obsession with her and jealousy of him gave him the bright idea to turn on the ppl who saved him. He deserved what happened during that second attack.

It is unreasonable of her to believe that ML should have once again come to the rescue or a man who got a lot of his soldiers killed, betrayed their alliance, aligned himself with their mutual enemy,, lost ML the city he gained, which meant the soldier who died fighting for it, their deaths were in vain, humiliated him because now his soldiers are upset that he is in love with a woman who's army betrayed them.

And at that moment, she didn't do a good job defending her innocence either and he was outraged at the discovery. But once he calmed down and thought about it, he did trust her. But she wanted to punish him more for something no sane person should do. Save the life of someone who wants to kill them. He saved her and her friend. He saved who mattered to him. And as for keeping her there. First off, she needed to heal and secondly, he needed leverage to take back his home. He had to force the CUI army under her father to uphold their alliance. She was never in danger.

And as you've said, they were from conflicting armies, so as much as the notion pained him, he had to consider that it was all a trap as his right hand man was saying.

It's a great show and I'm enjoying it. And at this point, she finally sees her brother for who he is, but she still doesn't know how far he'll go.

I'm enjoying this series a lot. I like the chemistry between the main leads and the multiple jealous asses waiting in the wings for their chance as well as the villains. I love clever MCs.

This isn't a flaw, but just my opinion. She has a lot of nerve getting mad at him because he was angry about her army's betrayal. Like, she had been doing sneaky shit to him the whole time, deceiving him, lying to him and he just laughed it off or accepted the challenge.

But after saving the life of her friends, leader, and her, only to have that same leader stab him in the back which cost him his soldiers, credibility, trust, and advantage, she has the nerve to be mad that he didn't just take her word for it.

How can he? Especially when she willingly went back to the ppl who betrayed him instead of leaving the Cui army or trying to stay with him to prove her innocence.

Then she has the gall to get mad because once again, they were attacked by their enemy and Li Ni didn't come to all of their rescue. Note: Cui Lin should have been focused on eliminating instead of being worried about who she was with,

Anyway, why SHOULD he save y'all again? The last time he did, your army betrayed him. Just be grateful he saved you and your friend. She always wants everything her way.

On Phoenix's Gambit: Love or Crown Apr 18, 2025
Okay, it's original for the most part. At least I haven't come across a story like this. It took me a minute to figure out why she kept refusing Prince Yi's affection. But in the restaurant, she let her guard down and it began to make some sense. Also, she's stubborn as hell.

Now why she thinks her evil ass sister should be Empress is where it gets messy. Because if you're supposed to do the right thing the second time around, ensuring someone who will kill anyone to get what she wants into one of the highest positions in the empire is NOT smart nor wholesome..

She's practicing condemning ppl to petty deaths by helping her sister gain power. All for what? Because she feels sorry for her? Or is it because that used to be her goal?

Whatever the case, it doesn't make sense. Hopefully she'll see the folly of her planning before it's too late.

She is not angry about not know his identity , but about the fact that when he proposed to her, he knew that him…
To be honest, she had tried to kill him three times prior to that. Bringing the body to the court could have killed him and his family. Sending her assassin to kill him and burn down his house. Yes, he let it, but her assassin set the fire and locked him inside. So, if we're talking about who did who wrong the most, she has the deck stacked. Yeah, he should have told her about him being the adopted son too. But she was also using him at that time and even after..

That's why when his daughter was crying, repeating her sentiments, she realized that she was treating that child the way her mother treated her. And now she can focus better and give that family a fair chance.

Ooh boy, it's getting harder for me to like the FL. I respect her determination for revenge, but hate how she's treating the ML. She is vindictive, wanting to punish him over and over again for not being honest with her about his identity, as if she wasn't doing the same thing. She's mad that his scheme, that he didn't follow through on, could have hurt her. Ignoring the fact that her schemes could have killed him and his family. Also, she's tried to kill him 5 times. And he still wants to be by her side and help her. He still loves her.

To me, she doesn't deserve him..she had more love and patience for her mother, whom she never met before and upon meeting her, faced nothing but cruelty. She was willing to endure all of that for a "mother's love" but can't give it to her niece/step daughter. That innocent child shouldn't have to endure her cruelty.

If she wasn't so arrogant, and learned how to listen instead of thinking she knows every damn thing, she'd have more success.

im sorry but who in the world think they would go free like that with all the threat and shit to the dad... and…
She is full of herself and very arrogant. She will have to calm herself down and actually start appreciating her husband and his knowledge. I'm tired of her punishing him for him not telling her the truth about himself when she really didn't volunteer any info about herself either until she was forced to.

She's manipulative and hypocritical with the wrong ppl.
