Title A Dream within a Dream Spoiler
Because she is right and the script is still happening as planned, the male lead changed it at the cost of his…
Yes, now that she's accepted that fate can be changed, she's living her life as it goes. After the 3 stabbing attempt. Even though, no one died in the script during that time, because the show went on. So, I'm wondering if she still thinks they'll be a scene where he has to choose between her and her sister now? Does she still think her family will be slain? Even with the pardon?

I'm glad she's decided to just accept the life, because truth be told, she never had any choice to begin with. The writer would have set her on the path regardless of all of her attempts to sway. And once that path was set, it was up to the characters to follow it, her included. And the "Save the girl" plot armor that she has, she always seemed to forget about, and that's something she never took into consideration during all of her worrying.

I'm on ep. 12 of S2 and STILL waiting for them to kiss, say "I Love You", at the very least. Let alone have their special night of lovemaking. I don't even know if we'll get that. So, that is 44 eps and counting.

Title A Dream within a Dream Spoiler
Because she is right and the script is still happening as planned, the male lead changed it at the cost of his…
If she thinks the key points are going to happen, what's the point of trying to run away, then? The fact that he used the "save the girl" ability to save her, only proves the script isn't written in stone as I said. It's been changing the whole time.

For instance, in the script, at the end, both sisters are taken and leveraged. He could only save one and he chose to save the sister, leaving her to fall to her death.

Now, if that scenario happens again, he's not even married to the sister. He loves her, so even if he was, he wouldn't chose the sister. And even if he wanted to, he doesn't have the ability to NOT save the FL. Which means, by if some chance the sister is the other woman, she will die unless another man saves her.

Furthermore, her refusing to marry him would only stall the story, because where else can it go. The writer would be force to make her marry anyway.

Exactly! Just ask him about the kidnapper. Then he could say that he had him locked up and didn’t know how he…
Exactly. And she should see how that other prince tries to make her man look bad and I hate that she acts like she can't put her foot down when it comes to any man giving her a smile.

That's how she ended up sicken by that Westerner. The first time she met the 2nd prince, he showed conflict with her fiance. So why is she still so willing to be around him? Letting him lay his head on her lap.

She should be keeping her distance. She's be pissed if her man was spending time with Do Ha Seon who is the chick who made her sick.

Title A Dream within a Dream Spoiler
The iconic scene (which is the worst part) indeed still happen on ep 32, NH loves her now and doesn't want to…
Yeah, I figured her obsession with the script, and her actions would lead to things happening. The fact that the writer can take over at any time should have just been her clue to enjoy the ride and live the adventure. If everyone is a character, then just play the part your way. No point in running from what is inevitable if the writer wanted it.

Her free will was only what the writer allowed.

Title A Dream within a Dream Spoiler
Well things sure seemed to being playing out according the script for the wedding scene. If Nan Heng hadn't known…
The script isn't set in stone. That's the point. Her sister and MIL aren't the evil women they were in the script. Heng isn't the villain he was in the script. He didn't fall in love and marry her sister. In the script, he didn't have an alter ego persona.

How does she even know that NOT marrying him could lead to her family dying? Like her sister asked her, how did she even know by banging the drum, that didn't lead to her family's execution.

Even the key points in the plot of the script didn't happen the exact way they happened in the
script.

So, she shouldn't be clinging to the script this damn hard as if everything is going exactly like the script. Nor does she even know when the writer will take over, so she should just let it play out and follow her heart.

I'm on EP. 32 by the way.

Title A Dream within a Dream Spoiler
Her and this damn script are getting on my nerves. Why does she trust the worst part of the script will happen when so much has changed? And I bet it's not even Nan Heng who will get her parents killed, but the real villain CG. That should make her feel stupid considering all of her decisions.

If she's so sure the key points will happen no matter what, then why try to run away? Why refuse to marry? Just let them happen and see how it ends. Now, if she thinks she can change the story by her actions, then why can't she understand that the story has already changed by other characters actions. And the biggest change of them all if the fact that the ML must always save her. That wasn't in the script.

Don't take relationship advice from ppl who won't take their own advice. My Dan and JCY solving everyone problems but their own. How are you going to tell someone to tell the other person you love how you feel and then keep mum in your own relationship. Pretending like you're just friends. 😩 🙄

I agree, it’s just a bummer. I think it’s a little wild though that the murderer of her mom just gets off…
I'm thinking he didn't want her to have that vengeful blood on her hands. Like, after her rage settled, could she handle it? But yeah, I agree. It annoyed me and seemed like one plot device to push their relationship back even more.

Usually I'd disagree because China has very strict censorship laws but in this show's case, it's not just kissing…
They are both on that BS. I'm sick of both of them. Like, they have a lot of nerve dealing out relationship advice, but won't take it themselves.

They are supposed to be two clever, reasonable adults. Is it so hard to be honest?

For me, it's not about seeing it as a romance drama or not. I didn't start this viewing it as a romance, but if…
Exactly. The writers included the romance, and then every silly obstacle to derail it. The "will they, won't they" is frustrating. Watching them take one step forward, then five steps back makes no sense when they're dealing out romantic advice to everyone else, but not taking it themselves when they're supposed to be sensible, clever adults.

Personally, I've given up on if they'll get together. I fast for past their repetitive conversations on what their relationship means and blah, blah, blah.

Now, I'm just watching for the intrigue and treachery.

Yes i totally agree with you , she sounds dumb to think the ML will just be good all of a sudden, Like common…
Lol, I know. Like that turn in the story really disappointed me because I hate stories that want to turn the ruthless man into your average Joe. Now, it's apparent he hates killing ppl who he feels doesn't really deserve it. But he has no problem killing those he feels deserve his blade. Her not wanting him to kill anyone knowing who he is, makes her an annoying character to me. You are trying to marry a soldier in ancient times. Where it's kill or be killed. My guy has assassins after him and you don't want him to kill to protect himself? If you don't shut your ass up, woman! Let this man be dangerous and sexy and love on you.

On The First Night with the Duke Jul 9, 2025
The only thing that concerns me, as I'm still enjoying the series, is the played out "misunderstanding" trope. I hate that. Two people need to talk. if the only way you can make drama is to have the characters not communicate like reasonable adults, then that's just lazy writing. I also don't want the FL to be easily manipulated by others. Because that means she can't think for herself. That's another trope I hate. Otherwise, my other thoughts on this drama is in a spoiler comment I posted below.

On The First Night with the Duke Jul 9, 2025
Well, I'm still enjoying this, but I also saw a lot of this coming and it's okay. As soon as she was pushed into the water, I knew it was the 2 FL, Miss goodie two shoes. it was obvious when you watch as many of these as I do. It was obvious because she's the villain you least expect. Her actions don't match her words. For instance, during the selection process, she told the MFL that she didn't want to be there and would probably lose the first round. But instead, she fought hard to make it all the way through. That was your first clue that she wanted to marry the prince just as much as the other two women.

The two main villains are teaming up, but I'm wondering if their goals align. 2FL wants to marry Prince Yi Beon, where as 2ML wants to marry Cha Seon Cheak. That could be interesting where they force marriages on both, splitting the couple up, or at least attempt to and fail. But if 2ML goal is to kill Yi Beon and marry Cha Seon Cheak, that defeats the goal of 2FL and what happens then?

That's where my curiously lies. Now, what concerns me at ep. 9 is MFL wanting her man, who's known as the "King's Hunting Dog" to turn over a new leaf and be good. Like, did she not read the book? Does she not know what times they're living in? Does she think he can disobey the King and walk away without any repercussions. She's never had to deal with the king. She's never had to really face those kinds of challenges. If she's easily swayed by rumors or the fact that he kills, like , girl, you KNEW that going into the relationship. Be realistic.

she's going to have to make a decision to either stand by her man, or be boring and run away, or fall for the lies and manipulation of the villain. That's what I don't want to see, because that's a trope I hate. Don't be stupid. I hate stupid main characters.

Ppl who don't really know what they're doing, yeah. But like with remakes that are successful or songs with different covers that are hits, those instances, yes, someone else did it better.

Naw, they think. She was thinking about the script when she read it and complained that it was crappy and she could write one better. When given the chance, she's trying to follow the same script she critized. That's what's wild.

Title A Dream within a Dream Spoiler
The seventh Prince might not hate his uncle's guts, but I do. i'm also tired of watching Yingming's fake outrage…
Exactly. Her fake outrage gets on my nerves. Like woman, you never give him a chance to fully explain himself without badgering him or cutting him off. Even when she thought he was gay as Li, she didn't let him explain because she feared the answer. She does that when she's afraid the answer will make her question herself or doubt the script.

And Guihong has spent his whole life hating on Heng and being jealous of him. So, he'll make up excuses to hate him, especially since the woman he claimed to love doesn't want him, but supported Heng.

I peeped that he was the real villain of the story 3 EPS in because he was willing to frame and kill people for his own personal reasons. Good ppl don't do that.

But I agree, like, where is his punishment for breaking the law?
