I appreciate that this was quite refreshing when it first aired, but watching it almost 10 years later I can't…
Ahhh, thank you for the comment! I checked out the first episode and I was really disappointed, especially with that melodramatic music playing during the fightscene. Good to know it doesn't really get any better except the side characters.
Hmm, the first half of the drama was really fun and interesting, but then it all went down the hill after some very forced turbulences... There wasn't enough build-up for the ending, either. The actors did really well as usual. Tanaka Kei and Yoshida Kotaro are amazing, the problem was that the writing kinda deterioriated and there were so many ships that I didn't even know who to ship anymore. I appreciated the references to other Ossan's love content and some iconic scenes.
The last three episodes are so confusing. I found myself looking for clues explaining stuff in post-credit scenes, but it seems we actually have to decipher them ourselves. Why did the characters make such decisions? We will never know for sure, unless the movie has some additional scenes.
Really looking forward to more of his projects! He's such an amazing actor, he's too good for all those romance dramas. I hope Na Rae, Kicking Out doesn't disappoint.
It was quite nice to see Anton Arceo in the final episode as Neil. He had more chemistry with Mario during a hug than Mario did with Jethro the entire series. It would be nice to see Anton in another series, I think he could do really well playing a shy and cute character. I guess the same applies for Arnold's character as well. His character was completely wasted, he spent years wanting to be with Mario fully, but he was mistreated and thrown away like garbage because Mario couldn't speak up his mind and tell him he wants Jethro.
It's finally finished! Thank the gods of BL because I don't think I can handle more. I was so excited for this series when I first saw the teaser and the cast announcement, but this turned out to be such a weird series that wasted the cast. The delay in between airing certainly didn't help this series as I further distanced myself from the characters (if that's even possible). The worst offender is the writing. Mario's character is the opposite of what he is described as and most episodes are filled with toxic scenes which make no sense. The plot doesn't go anywhere and even if there were nice and meaningful scenes, they were overshadowed by the bad. I also understand that product placement was necessary, but they could have incorporated it better. I still have no idea what to think about this series. I guess 5/10 would be a suitable rating. Something failed big time and it probably starts with the script. The actors felt really dissociated from their characters, but they are normally very decent actors.
Man, the OST gives me chills, what a drama! I am only halfway through, but it's very enjoyable. The OST is available on several platforms, look up TV series"AVALANCHE" ORIGINAL SOUNDTRACK.
This drama became my favourite so quickly! It's so heart-warming and full of love. It has a wonderful LGBT representation, even if it was minor, it was very healthy. The OST is pure joy. The only regret I have with this drama is that it's too short because all the characters were so wonderful and deserved to have their own storyline. Definitely watch the special! It's such a good ending to this drama. The side story is really fun to watch sometime in the middle of this drama, but can be watched any time.
