Sorry for this incoming rant, but just wanted to let it out. Been a little bummed seeing that people are really disappointed with the season 2 plot, time jump, change in characters, etc. I was worried too, but after watching it again, I can honestly say I see the same two characters from season 1 we all loved. After rewatching, I think both characters are 100% true to themselves. Shi De doesn't know what Shu Yi saw, he just knows he royally messed up. I still have my theory the alpha project was his creation to get to Shu Yi because other methods failed (he came back after two years, so...), and it puts him in Shu Yi's line of sight where he can't be avoided. Also, he spent 10 plus years pining after a guy he never thought he would get, then he did, and now he knows that is possible, he will try anything/everything to get him again. I think that's the main different between this Shi De and Shi De from 5 years ago. Then with Shu Yi, we see a lot of the traits he had before he liked Shi De. Also, what I absolutely love about his characterization in the first ep are the little moments where he gets mad at himself for letting Shi De back in, like when he let's him in the kitchen. He has a lot of anger towards Shi De, but also himself. At the end of the day, these are two guys who clearly both still have feelings for each other, so we just have to see the drama play out, which of course includes what the heck kept Shi De in America.
I was so nervous about season 2, but oh my goodness, I love them so much. I love how straight out the gate Shi De is fighting for the relationship. Like, he's just like sorry, thanks for waiting? Also, what would have happened if the acquisition didn't happen? How/when would they have seen each other again? My theory is Shi De created the Alpha project to be the best at whatever the companies do so Shu Yi's company would notice and want to acquire them....just like how he made Shu Yi notice him growing up. I don't see any other way they would have crossed paths, and it's very Shi De and would make sense why he immediately is like hi, let's get back together. Gosh I missed these two.
I'm not gonna lie, I was not blow away by the first couple of eps. I thought the premise was meh, but was like fine, I'll keep watching. One minute into ep 3, as Hong Seok brought out a birthday cake, I'm like, ok, these two are frigin adorable, they can stay, lol
P Aof is such a great director, I feel so thankful to him...as a part of the LGBTQ+ community, I really hated…
The discussion between Tian and Tul was so so well done. Coming off Ton/Chon, I was so disappointed in GMMTV and how crazily outdated and unsensitive that show was. ATOTS is totally the opposite and the progression of this show is great.
This was the first Asian drama that I watched, so it will always have a special place in my heart. Is it Perfect? No, but oh my goodness is it good. And Dylan Wang ?
More theories:I think that Shi de's stepdad got sick and he stayed to help pay the insurance hospital bills (they…
A lot of that makes sense. I definitely think the scenes of Shi De and Shu Yi's dad from the trailer is at the 2 year mark where he comes back and his dad blocks him. But, also knowing Shi De, he won't give up. To branch off your theory a bit, I think Shi De will purposely put himself in Shu Yi's path to get into his company, even if it means like doing a job he doesn't want to do for a year or three just for the chance to see Shu Yi again.
For some reason I got it into my head this "special" episode would be alike a long behind the scenes vid because I was too excited for it to be like real content. Now I wish it was behind the scenes. I'm so damn confused. These two seem like completely different characters. Shu Yi gets MAD. We saw it in season 1 and in the trailer for 2. So now we supposed to see him travel to America (where he magically finds Shi De in the middle of a park) suspect he now a baby daddy (do we even know the timeline at that point?? Like, if it had been less than 9 months, no way) and then just silently leave? I call BS. Then we have Shi De. He stuck around for more than ten years hoping this guy would LOOK at him, never expecting him to fall for him, and he let two years go by? Two years that will become 5? Like, if this was the BEGINNING of the show, fine, but don't fully flesh out these characters and their love story and end it like this.
Side note, calling it now, the baby is his brother and the woman is a nanny.
Ok, I'm done for now. Man, now I'm super worried about season 2.
So I had mentally prepared myself to cry for the last episode of Part 1, expecting all the sadness and heartbreak, and I'm not doing that for tomorrow... but should I be? lol
I don't know how much work I'm going to get done tomorrow...
