It started off good, and then the plot got too ridiculous. A woman who experienced so much pain from losing her own parents, completely abandons her own child, and the child of the man she loved so much? What happened to the CEO's daughter?
The last episode was rushed and raggedy. Loose ends were left dangling in the wind.
I hear you and I have to agree, just that when I survey the landscape, its impossible to expect that when we know…
No, you don't sound condescending, and I'm aware of Korea being a conservative country - I've been to Korea.
However, they still need to get with the program. Don't mess up the story, because you don't want to show adult sexuality onscreen, when it's a huge part of the storyline.
I'm so sorry they jail people for being gay in your region of the country.
In general, it was a nice one, I liked it and it was different, I binge watched it. I did struggle a bit about…
You know what? You may never get it. I don't. I don't romanticize abusive relationships, even if it's two men, because I don't do it when it's a man and woman.
If Pete had been a woman, the response would have been different, because of the social/power dynamic, at least I hope...but I don't know, because there were folks who were disappointed how tame the violence was.
"It's so BEAUTIFUL!😍". Okay. ...and it wasn't believable because the story wasn't given enough episodes to help with the understanding.
So I didn't try to wrap my mind around it, despite the several analytical "essays" in the comment section.
It's a bizarre relationship, and that's my take. Vegas is delicious tho. 😋
Bro someone in the review really said that all the relationships exhibited sex but anything 💀I don’t know…
That's because they're used to watching shows that water down sexuality. Korean BLs are especially good at that, but most don't show a realistic physical relationship between two adults who are in love. The sexual tension is usually hotter than the actual kisses/love scenes.
"Porsche shouldn't have been made head of the minor family".
Okay. But Vegas definitely was not the better choice. He made decisions that put everybody in danger - and he was fueled by anger/jealously/envy. His need to destroy Kinn motivated his every move. Can't have a man with a severe lack of impulse control running things. We know this was 100% fiction, and there should have been some deaths of main characters, based on sloppy leadership on both sides.
Gun was killed. Vegas is in a weakened state. Making Porsche head of the minor family was a chess move. Korn is a manipulative, demonic, controlling father, who always does what's in his best interest. Gun alluded to it, and Korn killed him, before he could spill all the tea.
It was decent, but like most Korean BLs, it falls short, when it comes to physical/sexual expression. You have weeks of sexual tension/eye fucking, only to end with a kiss/love scene that's underwhelming. That first and only kiss should have melted the paint off the walls. It didn't.
... before the "You just want porn!!!!" brigade comes out with torches, don't bother. One of my favorite BLs, "To My Star", both seasons, there's barely any kissing, and we never see any hot sex scenes. There are others, but I mentioned that one, because I just finished it. I loved it.
If you're familiar with the Semantic Error webtoon, the series didn't cut it. What is the "semantic error"? We know Sangwoo tries to fight his sexual attraction to Jang Jae. He doesn't understand it. He doesn't want it. It "does not compute", not to mention his overall technical way of thinking about love/sex, that has dark elements. It's the classic "enemies-to-lovers" story, with an added layer.
So while I was not expecting to see KinnPorsche level sex scenes, because it's Korean BL, there needed to be a level of physical Interaction that made sense, based on the storyline, and the build up of sexual tension, and there wasn't.
Jang Jae was breathtaking...just a walking piece of art. When he was dressed in all black, in the restaurant scene, I don't know how Sang Woo was able to restrain himself. The inner conflict - trying to be nice to his dining companion, but coming undone at the sight of the man who made him question all he thought he knew?
All that buildup, and all we get is the standard Korean BL kiss? No open mouth. No tongue. Head titled in a way to hide much of the mouth action? People kept talking about how "hot" it was, and I thought I was watching the wrong series.
I loved the leads, the writing was good, and Korean BLs are usually higher quality overall. But they miss the mark, when it comes to communicating sexual desire/longing between lovers, and in this particular story, it was definitely missed.
That the bodyguard that shot vegas could have been anyone? It could've been Arm, Pol, Porsche, Kinn, or even Tankhun…
True, but they didn't come looking for Pete. Tankhun was the only one who asked what happened to him. He was the only one who knew Pete would not go away, without alerting Kinn...and stay away that long. He's a mafia bodyguard, and for security purposes, that should not happen.
At the "funeral", Tankhun mentioned that other bodyguards never made it back, who went on the same mission. So, it would have especially been sad if Tankhun had just happened to be the one on the other side of Pete's gun.
....and Porsche, the very one he risked his life to prove he wasn't a traitorr? He threw him under the bus, when he brought Vegas to his homecoming party. He saw what Vegas had done to him. I was salty about that.
I agree. Erika was the GOAT, for sure. But she just appeared out of nowhere. Where was she all those other times,…
I'm not like that. I don't turn rabid, when folks share their honest opinion about a show, or the characters, or the actors. I agree with you. Arm is supposed to be like the "tech/weaponry god", and he didn't bring it, in my opinion. I'm like just protect your men - their vital organs. No need for toy trucks, with clown tricks.
While KinnPorsche was heads above the rest, it was not perfect. It was very well done, and it's going to make it harder to watch garbage.
something that was odd about this episode is how suddenly this Erika woman was an important fighter, so out of…
I agree. Erika was the GOAT, for sure. But she just appeared out of nowhere. Where was she all those other times, when she could have been of great use? You bring her in for....10 minutes maybe? Then you let her get killed. Okay. Whatever.
To be honest, the toy cars weren't my favorite - they didn't "fit". It added "cuteness" to scenes that weren't cute, and they definitely didn't deliver the level of destruction needed to eliminate enough of the threat. Arm should have developed some vests to protect the bodyguards and family. It's like you wonder what folks are thinking. I'm all for "abandoning logic" to a certain degree, but really?
Pretty good finale. There were loose ends that didn't get tied up - and you can tell by the ending, it was written to be the last of it. Korn shooting Gun, right before he was about to spill some tea? How did they just...leave Kim/Chay undone? All that chaos that happened, while Porchay was totally distracted (which was one of those dumb yourself down to support the narrative moments), and they just kinda fizzled. I'm not really into them as a couple, because there was never any real relationship to me, but I'm sure Kim/Chay fans were disappointed.
The fight scenes between the two families? Porsche showing up to save his man, just like he did when they were in the woods was a sight to behold. ❤️😍. Yeah, Kinn grabbed the wrong "gun", but I understood. Porsche coming in with that automatic just in time - oh the carnage! It was hot, and him blocking Kinn with his body? Phew! I get it. Porsche was probably the most fuckable at that moment, because Kinn understood that Porsche would fuck up anyone who fucked with Kinn - didn't matter which "family" they belonged to. That turned him on. I probably would have grabbed his dick too, as recognition of great service, just in case we didn't make it out alive.
I was sorry Chan didn't make it. He took his last breath, after alerting his boss of the imminent danger. I don't think he died in the book. I liked him. Rest In Power, great man.
But baby, the Theerapanyakul family is messy....MESSY. While Gun was definitely not a good guy, Korn is the most wicked/diabolical of the two. Gun's anger was relentless and cruel, but it was the result of trauma, just like his son's. Korn? He's just evil, manipulative and controlling. I don't believe anything that comes out of his mouth.
It's been a thrilling ride, and it's come to an end, for now. I'm patiently hoping for a season 2. BUT , if we don't get one, I'm thankful that Kinn, Porsche and the rest of the family/bodyguards survived the war.
They're not blood. Korn's sister was adopted. It's okay to feel uncomfortable with blood first cousins. While it…
It was in the book, and it gets revealed in the series. Just to be clear, I don't have a problem with others who think it's okay to have sex with their first cousins. That's their business.
My point is nobody should be telling others "there's nothing wrong with it", or "it's no big deal" just because they don't have a problem with it, and that just because something is legal doesn't mean it's acceptable for everyone. Laws can be separate from individual/cultural morality. That was always my point about the cousin issue.
