It offers so much more than just romance.
This drama delves into numerous life lessons, showcases great friendships, and has a well-built storyline with strong bonds between the characters.
Every character experiences excellent development by the end.

I've rewatched this drama more than 4 times,
and I still can't get over Sun and Chang Ge.

I think I am the only one not enjoying this drama 😭. many things keep bothering me: scheming ladies, numerous family disputes, comedy, and too much talking. I expected a dark thriller after watching the trailer and had high expectations, but I keep skipping and fast-forwarding through too much of it.
Our leads' chemistry is on fire, but that's not enough for me to keep going.
Does it get better after episode 13?

If you're expecting intense palace intrigue, good angst, and intelligent villains, this is not for you. Many characters are actually dull, and they clearly prioritized quantity over quality. The main issue is that there is no complexity in the plot.

I somehow managed to complete the drama mainly because of
Lu Yu Xiao. It's the first time I've seen her, and I was really surprised by her acting skills. ZJY is a good actress, but I felt her character was monotonous and lacked development, mainly due to the plot. As for the male lead, his character seemed unnecessary and served only as the love interest for the female lead without any significant role.
This is why I don't want CZY to act in female-centric dramas. The direction was pretty good, the main issue was the plot.

I need official announcement for his new rumored drama. I'm happy that he filmed a lot of variety shows over the past five months, but I really miss seeing CZY in dramas 😭.

WXY has very little screen time in the drama, less than the supporting characters. I don't want the same for CZY. I hope he will get to star in a big male-centric drama.

I feel bad for him because his character is written in a way that shows he has no backbone, no mental strength, and can't stand up to the princess. Now he is remorseful, but I wouldn't be surprised if he hurts or tries to kill his wife again to save himself. His character is such a waste.

Thanks for the reply. The writers did a good job changing this part, but it still feels so childish. He has known her for 16 years, and she also helped him with his cultivation. She is like his family, so it is normal for her to help him and show concern. He fell for her as if she were a new person to him. This is why I feel the plot is so surface-level. I feel they could have taken some time to develop the love story between the main leads. By the end of the 4th episode, the ML is already in love with the FL. I don't understand why he is suddenly so attracted to her, she is just the same as when he first met her and now in the present. I think this is the reason why I feel the leads have no chemistry. They could have provided some depth and foundation for their love story. And Rong Rong constantly pushing TSHH to realize her feelings for the ML feels forced.

The main issue isn't the age difference, age doesn't matter in xianxia dramas. The problem is that she raised him and taught him; she is like a parental figure or teacher to him.
