After the death of his family, Bai Cai is the only one who treats him as family and cares about him. Wu Geng never emotionally attached to A Lan to begin with, so there is no point in making them endgame.
I know I'm being selfish, but I really want to see him more in wuxia/historical/male-centric costume dramas. He looks absolutely stunning with long hair. I just can't seem to move on from "The Untamed". I tried to watch "The Longest Promise", but the female lead is really getting on my nerves.😑 I'm so excited for "Zhang Hai Zhuan" 😍

She struggled to survive every day. She doesn't have big ambitions like Wu Geng/A Gou, but she tried her best to assist him and help him even though she is not capable like A Lan.
Even though she asked him to tell his secret at the right time, who would expect that the a gou who has been beside her for 5 years is not a gou, and he has been deceiving her all the time? How can she forgive him that easily?
If she doesn't get angry and accepts a gou as Wu Geng because she always doubted him, that's really foolish of her.
I think that evil lady is manipulating her mind to make that extreme step to kill him because that's not Bai Cai's personality.
