The primal example of a kingdom trashing others with military technology superiority in ancient times is the Qin Dinasty domination. In XX century other countries could catch up because science was already developed in universal reach, the time between second WW and Cold War was enough for other countries run and build their bombs. Such scenario was impossible in ancient times when the discrepancy of knowledge between kingdoms was so huge that some fight with iron, some with bronze, some with wood, military technology development relied on natural resources available locally, geographic position, internal organization. The Qiaos have nothing but rice in the beginning of the drama.

US can have great military today, but it is nothing when other nations also have nuclear arsenal, the reason West let Russia invade Ukraine right now is because if they directly clash with Russia it will become a nuclear war between two sides, a Third World War. Back then military superiority means 1-the kingdom will be defeated, 2- a political marriage and submission.

I only watched the show and I will judge her according to the information in the show. If I have read the book I would judge her according to the book. But judging by the show I keep my ground and I agree with the grandmother, one side must back off, and yes, her family are instigators and she was instigating. There was no imminent sign that he would kill her family that moment, he was just protecting his territory for the moment, but her family was butthurt they lost Panyi and wanted another place to rule over. I do believe according to the information on the show for now he would not kill her family in the end but they would and will lose their power and ruling position, the FL acted right now not to save her family but to keep power. Oh my, the other girl posted here that the original novel is rebirth novel and she knows the Qiao family has no way to survive, the novel being a rebirth makes more sense. In the beginning of the drama it is clear that Wei military technology is way superior than it's enemies when they have catapults breaking defenses while the enemies have simple arrows that can't even reach Wei's army, so it is definitive that they cannot survive. I'm not telling she should do what her husband wants, I'm telling she could do other things instead of betraying, stabbing from back and brewing wars because she will never win like that and making the ML accept her act is just unrealistic. You are here pushing feminist agenda against me as if I'm against her because she is a woman, well her grandfather did the same and he is a piece of sh*t too. You are the ones accepting blindly what the FL thinks is right without looking at the big picture, the whole backstory and military superiority, just because she is a "poor delicate woman trying to survive", everybody behaving like the prisoner of beauty as the drama's name suggests.

Her clan have no way to survive, that is why her grandfather sought Wei support by marrying them. She is just making it slower by what cost? She started the show with her rightfull discourse about people lives and wellbeing, but as soon her family started losing power she says f*ck peace, go back fighting.

It is not survival when there isn't war yet, everything he does she takes as an attack. She is being petty! Her family will lose land and power because her family does not have means to keep it, instead of accepting it and joining Wei which is stronger to survive, she is trying to linger in their final straw by brewing war, if there is war going on they will not have time to get Qiao territory, that is her plan, and it is exactly what her grandfather has done in the past, surviving by sacrificing others and stabbing their backs. It is despicable and any other nation acting like that in real world is despised by everyone. A show that gives a message that her acts are rightfully done is ridiculous. She is no different from that exiled princess from Nirvana in Fire who destroyed Da Liang by brewing war from inside.

The FL is making ML's hate for the Qiao clan seems reasonable with her acts. Qiao clan is the kind of snakes that profit by brewing war between other clans. Her grandfather sent her to make peace and stop the war, but she goes there and starts doing the same her grandfather has done in the past, now I'm all in ML's support I hope he wipes her clan off the land and finally bring peace for the people. If by the end the ML softens and let her do her way I will just drop this drama.

After months finally a drama that got me hooked. Great cinematography, great acting, engaging plot. Don't care for the negativity here, this drama is awesome!

I feel the chemistry, I didn't like the second arc of the story tho, very dragging. But the actors did a good job with what they had in hands

This deserves a higher score, the couple has incredible chemistry and is able to pull off a somewhat messy begining of the story, probably to fill everything in 40 episodes.

Does not justify giving your enemy your plans just to self congratulate and getting three people killed because of that. How many times she said "I will not let him/her go" just to let him/her go in sequence doing the same thing over and over again. She did not learn her lesson commiting the same mistake more than three times in the drama. Just plain stupid and arrogant.

And the ml's actor, sorry he is cute but his acting is terrible, maybe the stoic ml role just does not suit him, maybe he will improve later, but right now his acting as the ml lacks a lot and part of the romance in this drama not sailing is because he does not look in love and does not emote enough with his eyes and micro expressions. The chemistry is not there.

The fl is not as smart as she think she is. Everyone close to her that was killed was because she called victory too early and let her father discover her plans.

I hate this ending the novel ending was so much better

I’m on ep 6 and I am bored, ngl, I thought removing the original back story made this flat, does it get better later?

Well now I want the ill fated lovers to get a better ending than that curse
