Yes I'm annoyed at how much screentime TGN and NL are getting at this point, from episode 5 to 16 they have way more screentime than MRF and it's so annoying!

It also depends on marketing, luck, timing and other unpredictable factors. So far I think this drama lacks marketing too other than being a niche subject, not many people know about it. It's better for an average product with great marketing compared to a better-than-average product but lousy narketing, because the value of your product(drama in this case) depends on people's perception on it.

Yes agree I don't find FHWZ novel memorable too, I just remember there was a female character Cheng Lingsu who was a clever girl with a sad end. I love HSDS and LOCH, the characters and sects indeed were more distinguished and memorable!

Agree, this is how old school wuxia novels are written by JY, the world don't revolve around the protagonists alone, but it's more like we see the world and meet many side characters through the protagonists journey. I think Fei Hu Wai Zhuan is one of his earliest. This is one of the reason it is a niche. This flow is not so comfortable during our fast food culture now where people have less attention span, most of new xianxia dramas now is focusing on the protagonists life, following the trend of times.

Besides wuxia and JY in the 90s I loved Huan Zhu Ge Ge a lot, and early 2000s I went gaga over the TVB drama War and Beauty, it was so beautiful and tragic. You can tell I'm an auntie too lol.

I enjoyed ZJZ adaptations too especially those with LYF, but not all of his. There are also some that he did badly, his HSDS starring Deng chao was an example. I couldn't finish it.
