Well ... as I said before, the second male lead made a difference. Although his role was not written well, the actor brilliantly carried a complex grey role with a little bit of drama. I laughed aloud at the gifts he gave to the FL, so clueless yet not shy to try. Overall the drama flowed well with no rushing to the finish line. Good chemistry among all actors. Nicely written. Only negative side is second tier characters were not developed well. The marriage break-up was such a flop not sure why it was even added.
The 8.7 rating is so blown out of proportion, people are only rating it high because of their favorite actor that…
True. You know even Hollywood produces terrible dramas. Most probably this one lacks a good plot. Can't remember whether i read this novel. But i stand by what i said. Rather overrated, nothing to take home.
First few episodes were good working on the complicated back and forth between two strong individuals with enough baggages to sink a ship. Then the story lost the grip on the storyline going all over the place making everyone dizzy with the change of situations and character development. Chemistry between male leads is the saving grace. It is epic even though a lot to say about acting. The portryal of Fan Xio sometimes very wooden just a dialogue with no depth of emotion.
Good script. Decent acting. Second male lead can steal the show with his charisma and rather dramatic portrayal of a shrewd, meticulous, but snobbish individual. Overall good.
Terrible clichés and tropes. Even the chemistry between main couple so lame and lacklustre. Very bad writing and even mediocre acting ( hoped better from the ML considering some of his previous work). Overall no idea why this got such high rating.
Sarcastically poking fun at the modern day marriage and wedding, the whole shebang, while highlighting the subtle form of workplace discrimination. Very well written and stellar cast. The FL is da bomb! Even that awful ex is giving a great performance. There is hope here....
Totally agree. Why is the puppy love plot running so long? And why does she have to lie and break his heart all…
True! and four more episodes to go ... painful. You are so right about the FL. she is turning out to be such a wimp. I think she is kinda lost in the plot with no clear direction. There is no saving this story. Should've ended at 10 episodes. And the supporting couple (who appear at seriously odd times), the brother and the friend... truly murder the drama with ridiculousness. Who really invented those psychos? hahaha
The scene where Seo Hye Jin confronts the middle school teacher was wrong no matter which way I looked at it.…
Etiquette-wise, yes, the behaviour is kinda problematic. But the point the academy teacher (Oh, the school teacher said that an academy teacher could not be called a teacher - such a pompous ass) was making is sound. No matter where the critique comes from, ideally, a teacher should be humble enough to hear and consider the points. The school teacher is far more concerned with hurt feelings and loss of face than professional integrity. This shows the complexity of school education in S. Korea, with everybody putting pressure on everyone, and a simple thing like a wrong answer makes such a calamity.
The ending was rushed (I guess that is really not the ending), but overall, the drama is pretty sound, with enough mystery, suspense and, of course, blood. Rather great delivery and great acting.
Dang! This drama should have ended at 12 episodes max. Now, it is such a drag, becoming stale bread. The only saving grace is that the ML is such an eye candy. The plot seems to have lost its vigour somewhere around episode 10.
The chemistry between ML and FL is amazing, and that's what makes this drama rather interesting to watch. The story kept going off course; perhaps the writers wanted to keep the drama simple. The thing that FL loves more, Shanghai, which is the contestation in this drama, suddenly became no issue at all. The supporting cast, most times, are empty shells that fill the gaps (the brother, passionate about art, suddenly becomes a resident philosopher with no reference to his passion). Since there is not much of a storyline or character development, only a rosy romance (which the main leads carry with their chemistry), the drama became such a drag at times.
This is what a predictable cheesy romance should be like, full of positive energy and happy notes. The ML's dimple alone can carry this drama forward to a happy ending. But 16 epis, really??
An intriguing storyline. The silent battle among the main characters is rather exciting palace politics. However, the acting is rather placid and not as compelling as can be developed. And 20 episodes is too much. Hope this won't be a drag.
Story, cast, delivery, cinematography ... everything is an unspoilt delight. Intricate traditions, cruelty, greed, power struggles and humanity all blended and delivered with no heroes but just humans facing complex circumstances.
Can't they put less makeup on those actors and fewer filters? They look like zombies sometimes. And often times dialogue lines and emotions do not match.
Chemistry between male leads is the saving grace. It is epic even though a lot to say about acting. The portryal of Fan Xio sometimes very wooden just a dialogue with no depth of emotion.
