You could try Love Like the Galaxy which is also written by the same novelist as Minglan if you haven’t already.

Review A Dream of Splendor
I just finished this drama and your review definitely defines it so well. As i knew nothing about the historical background before watching, i just liked the empowerment message without worrying about accuracy. My major and only annoyance was the ridiculous reason for their break-up. I understand the need for it, i just needed a better reason. Also, i also gave really high reviews for this drama as compared to the recent cdramas I've watched, it's much better. The only dramas I've enjoyed better is story of minglan, NIF, rise of phoenixes, story of yanxi palace. The acting and chemistry were the best among the aspects of this drama.
