AS some one who both writes articles and watched death games, I can say this is a well thought out article, Great Job! So from a break the mold POV by fleshing out the characters the most SG wins.
I have an article coming up about all the death/debt games I have watched from Game of Death to SG and the one thing they all do is follow one character, the main, who you instantly know will survive. SG gave us the story of many and some people clung to one character they liked best.

Admittedly I watch mostly Japanese so if I state I like AiB better than SG it would be seen as country preference. What I can say is that SG was very predictable. Every game, every time. AiB on the other hand while the games were easy to figure out the Protagonist went from Uncertainty to sadness to resolve to find those responsible for his plight. Everyone in SG wanted to be there.

Marketing wins for SG too I must agree but I will be watching Season 2 of AiB, SG AND Sweet Home which came out the same time as AiB.

Great Job!!

We all know my love for Jdramas so I can only comment on this part. I love that you wrote this article it very well done and thought out. Bravo! I personally like that Jdramas dont care if international audiences "don't get it". If I want cafeteria food version of entertainment (bland, no spice so it can be consumed by everyone), I will go back to watching american TV.
Most people that complain dislike the humor of Japanese entertainment, but for me who hates second hand embarrassment or Slapstick it is perfect.
I have seen a few Titles from other countries but Japan will always a have my Kokoro (こころ).
