Age does not really matter. He was always inadequate anyway. When he was with Hae Won she was already the one explaining and leading their "couple". After she died, he did not want to live as a vampire anymore but as a human. His vampire condition made him do "dumb" things like being burnt by the sun, eating garlic or praying to buddah... He developped an eccentric side that makes him look different and stupid at times but his inner thoughts show he is not that stupid.
