It is an open ending. The lead couple do not love each other. They have regrets but they cannot say they would do differently if they had the chance. So they just recognized that what they did was to use love for interest. In the end they just decided on a clean slate. Nothing more.

Nevertheless was good at first but the ending was shit because the writers wanted to give a happy ending out of nowhere and it ended in a total nonsense.
For me the FL always pushed the ML away. When he hesitated. When she decided to date another guy. When she sent him back to Mi Kyung to protect him. When she left without a notice. When she slept with him and then disappeared. There was always the same logic behind all these rebutal. Truth is he liked her but she never liked him.
The story is not nonsensical for me. It is just what we can see in real life. Someone who does not love you but will use you for personal interest.

4 years later they meet again and talk and decide that all what happened 4 years earlier was not love but using love for a personal interest but now they give each other a new start. Hurrah!

Always knew it would not be a happy ending. Making one totally unbelievable would have been worse.
Looking at all what happened and how the FL pushed him away again and again even after sleeping with him, it was clear that they could not end up together. The open ending is not great but it is the less terrible ending they can give to us.
