well record of youth is also on the list... they mostly only talk about the premise of these drama and both roy…
I did not try Record of Youth because I am not a huge fan of Park Bo Gum and I read feedbacks about it which did not convince me to change my mind. Probably I will never watch it.
You know my opinion about Start up. Regarding HJP I thought he was a consistent endearing character but my problem was with the course of his actions. He went too far in questionable behaviors (rude inefficient mentoring and scheming third wheel in a fake love triangle). He ended up too cliché and messed up with no proper ending. That's my opinon only of course.
Dal Mi ends up with her real first love. She does not end up with the writer who impersonated her penfriend 18…
My facts are that a 18 years old HJP accepted to lie and impersonate a 12 years old boy and pretend to be the penfriend of a 12 yo girl. 15 years later this same HJP went to ask a guy he stole his name and identity to help Dal Mi trick her sister by joining her at a party. HJP fails to convince Do San but Do San goes on his own. Everything could have stopped here after Do San is almost busted by In Jae and her mother. But HJP intervenes and makes the lies going. So Do San is stucked in a scheme he never wanted to be part of. Lucky for him, that gives him the chance to be next to the girl he fell in love with and he became her real first Love. After numerous challenges and obstacles, they marry and are happy with their friends and families. I hope you like these facts.
There is not plot twist... I was this kid/guy since the beginning.
I was confused too at first and I had to investigate and be patient before I see better in the order of ML and SML and ML actor and SML actor. I don't think it is cheesy or cliché.
Cheesy and cliché would have been "two penfriends of 15 years ago find each other and fall in love". The non cheesy and non cliché is : "Two kids fated to be lovers by a grandma and her good boy".
Actually Do San and Dal Mi were absolutely not related 15 years ago. They were just brought together "in name" by letters. 15 years later they are brought together "in person". That's the beauty of Fate.
In this drama, the truth does not matter. In ep 10 when she is the closest to the truth, she doesn't care to know about it. It is because she was never confused by the letters and she never took them for what they were not. Unlike a lot of viewers...
Theatrical actors and TV/Cinema actors have a slightly different job. Theatrical actors do a live performance. There is more style. the performance is less realistic. The acting must be accentuated because the public is far, the focus is rarely 100% on the actor... In cinema, it is more realistic, the focus can be totally on the actor's performance, it is not live but the emotions must more precise.. Differences which maybe explain that it is not so easy to go from one to the other.
I am glad this drama helped KSH to gain more fame in the TV/dramas industry. It is not easy to adapt oneself but talented and hardworking actors keep improving with age. I can only wish him to make a great name for himself after debuting so late in TV/dramas.
Do I start watching and risk the potential emotional trauma if things get messy/heartbreaking? Or do I wait it…
A little bit of angst and some nasty schemes but the main couple always looked secured so far. A little bit more of challenge for them in the latest eps but OK it is better like that.
