At Age 12 Dal Mi was a young teen who had little to worry about. She just spent time playing or arguing with her…
Everything is triggered because In Jae came back. Dal Mi initially put away Do San from the letters like the music box she did not want to open. She did not want her fantasy to be spoiled. She wanted to keep him as the souvenir of a great pen friend and the fantasy of a great first love. She decided to find him not because she wanted to know about him and his life or because she was missing him but because she wanted to use him to help her bluff her sister. But still... she fell in love with him.
She compared the writings because something was fishy and she wanted to know. It is not because she cared about Ji Pyeong.
Regarding Sa Ha, she learnt that Han Ji Pyeong their mentor confessed to Dal Mi so she tried to force down Dal Mi's throat the narrative that she could hesitate between their Majority shareholder (Do San) and their Mentor (Ji Pyeong) but if you pay a real attention to what Dal Mi said, she said "I can't figure out (...) who has my heart". It does not mean she is hesitating between two options. It just means she doesn't know anymore. She just acknowledges she is confused and after they win Demo day the confusion is gone: it is Do San, the one she kisses via her fingers.
I also think the writing made mistakes and confused people and made things draggy. But story wise, I thought it was coherent if people don't make assumptions at the beginning.
At Age 12 Dal Mi was a young teen who had little to worry about. She just spent time playing or arguing with her…
Did you know that regarding couples, 70% of men and women lie to their partner? Did you know almost 50 % of women lie to their man about their performance in bed? Did you know 50% of the recruiters find lies in 50% of the resumes they receive? Did you know scientists proved that in usual conditions of life people lie 2 or 3 times within 10 minutes when they are under pressure? Do you know how many lies a person tells in a day?
So are you going to confront and have an open conversation with each person who lied to find the truth? I am going to let know something Dal Mi knows that obviously you don't.
It comes down to one thing: Is it relevant? for your life and for the life of the people you love?
If a young woman is an orphan and her adoptive parents always said she was their biological child but she discovers it is not true, then she will want to know. Because it is relevant. She could not breathe, eat, work, live properly without knowing. For her and for her husband and kids or just her friends who would suffer to see her in this condition...
If a young woman like Dal Mi had a pen friend 15 years ago at age 12 who comforted her for a year and then disappeared... 15 years later she learnt he was fake and the letters were fake. What the use to know? Why would it be relevant for her life to know? For Dal Mi it was not.
The day Ji Pyeong told her, she just worried about Do San and if this situation impaired their feelings for each other. This was the important thing and the priority for her. During 3 years she never asked Ji Pyeong because she did not care about it. She did not care to take the letters to go check with him each sentences which one was truth and which one was lie. Doing this was irrelevant for her life. She did not give a damn about it and rightly so. It would not change her life, her love, her heart, her job... nothing. So... forget it.
Why would she go confront her Grandma? Like if it would make her life and Grandma's life better? She knew the good side of Grandma and the bad side of Grandma. Grandma lied to her but Grandma raised her for 15 years, fed her, clothed her, loved her, allowed her the chance to be the one she is now. Why go confront her like she would put her on trial for something unworthy of it? What was important and a priority for her was to keep Grandma happy and smiling and free from useless headache.
In the end, this is called maturity. A concept you might embrace with difficulty considering the way you write to people... But It is ok. I am glad to help and to let you know.
Have you ever been in a relationship with someone that you were attracted to for a long time and you don’t know…
At Age 12 Dal Mi was a young teen who had little to worry about. She just spent time playing or arguing with her sister. After the divorce of her parents, she had to grow faster and here came the letters to comfort her and help her. One year later, the letters stopped. She never had any other pen friend to write to and make her reflect on her life.
15 years later, she is 27. Not the same person anymore of course. She went through hardships and experiences of life which made her a person down to earth and practical and ready to fight hard to obtain a result she expects. The pen friend she had once, she only uses his "features" as a standard for her love life but she is always ready to go on dates and try to find Love.
Why his big hands? Because she was physically attracted to him first. Why because it was him? Because she could only quote Michel de Montaigne in his Complete essays: “If I am pressed to say why I loved him, I feel it can only be explained by replying: 'Because it was he; because it was me.” Of course she would marry him. Do San is the man of her life.
The thing you are missing is that Dal Mi put away the letters and her 12 years old pen friend Nam Do San in a corner of her memory and she would have left them there if her sister did not come back to South Korea.
When Ji Pyeong said to her he wrote the letters and revealed to her the letters and their writer 12 years old Nam Do San were fake, she just decided to forget about them. She never asked about them anymore. Not even to Grandma who was supposed to have received the first letter from the very hand of Nam Do San. Grandma lied to her. But she never confronted Grandma about it and the letters. Why? because Dal Mi is a smart girl who can admit what is important and what is priority in her life.
For me ML is not very credible between his statut of genius and the difficulties he is in. He does questionable…
Yes I agree being a genius does not prevent people from making mistakes but I found he accumulated too many of them in his way to communicate with FL, hiding things to her, hijacking the birthday party prepared for her, riding with his so called "girl friend"... Hope he does better in the following eps.
For me ML is not very credible between his statut of genius and the difficulties he is in. He does questionable…
I can accept that they decided to have a fair competition. Not to try to win her like a trophy but to let the other guy do his moves without obstructing and to let the girl show who she likes.
I did not mind them competing like kids at the gym but what really bothered me is when the ML hijacked the party prepared by the SML. SML threw a party for her and did not invite the ML Fair enough. Why it made the ML insecured to the point he had to hack the video system of the city and spoil the party. It was so inconsistent with the confidence he showed previously.
The SML surely spent tens of thousdands of Yuan for the party. I thought it was a poor way to suggest that sincerity wins over money. I will keep watching a few more eps if it gets better and if not...
first 6 episodes were super good, but now I'm watching ep.10 and gonna dropML from cool hot guy turned to ordinary…
For me ML is not very credible between his statut of genius and the difficulties he is in. He does questionable things without properly communicating so he has to apologize too often. Also I do not like how he is doing in his rivalry with the other guy. I will give it one last chance this week.
What a pity. Up to ep 7 and I still can't find the FL cute, lovable, at all. So this is it for me
I like her because she is not cute and lovable ;)
For me she is refreshing because she is different from the usual cute girls in Chinese school dramas. She is like the "average" girl next door who would look pretty if she put some efforts in her clothes and make up.
It was clear from the first and second episodes that Ji Pyeong was not the one for Dal Mi and that he and Grandma were instruments to bring Dal Mi and Do San together. So yes it was their fault for expecting apples.
All these people got SLS because they fell for the poor orphan boy drenched in the rain that Grandma decided to help and they loved his dimples and smile. But these people looked at the surface only and failed to see his true nature underneath which guided his wrong actions. He was a hot headed, rude, greedy and selfish person. He became worse as an adult because he became rich and renown. He was haughty and nagging and scheming when he was so poor deep inside. Story wise he was an awful person for 15 episodes.
The whole story about him is his evolution from an unapproachable selfish person to a person with empathy for people and providing for them and loved by them like when his fellow coworkers showed warmth to him. It happened only in the last ep. The only potential wasted here was his person who was stuck in his one sided love too long and evolved too late.
Btw, I am French. I have read and studied Cyrano de Bergerac in its original alexandrine version at school and I am glad to confirm to you that Cyrano and this drama have nothing in common except for the use of letters.
And since you like so much to give advices to people, you won't mind one for you: You should not talk to people like they are needing education or knowledge. People who do that just look childish and unsure of their own arguments.
There was these people watching a movie. In the beginning they see a man eating fruits. They said "hey these apples look tasty!" But at the end of the movie the man says "these pears were delicious". So these people erupted in anger. Said what happened to the apples?. They writer cheated us! It is a scam. It makes no sense. There is a hole in the plot! The ending is so bad! and unfair and blablabla...
You see, me, I don't have any problem with this drama or its ending. Because I always knew it was about pears. No apples. And so yes, I really enjoyed this drama not like the people who thought the letters were love letters and HJP was Dal Mi's first Love and they should have reunited... and they are here day in day out posting tens of comments to vent their frustration.
You like to observe human interactions? I do as well. This is why I can say that Ji Pyeong was the best character but the worst person in this drama.
Are you sure the overall rating here is or should be the result is the doing of NJH fans? or KSH fans? or Suzy fans? or Peanut fans?
Recently the overall ratings were weird. IOTNBO or FOE fell under 9 to reach 8.9 or 8.8. A drama like 18 Again went from 8.7 to 8.3. Very unfair ratings. Now they are back to a proper one for me. IOTNBO and FOE are back to 9.1 . If these two drama do not deserve to be above 9 then what drama deserves it?
I don't know what's happening to the ratings but for me ratings are back to normal and fair and 8.1 for Start up is a fair rating.
People who loves you will tell you the truth risking their relationship with you, people who want you to love…
People can lie by action by telling their name is Do San and they are 12 when their name is Ji Pyeong and they are 18. They can also lie by omission by hiding that they are an orphan, not in middle school, they live in grandma 's shop or that someone made them write or by hiding what they did to let someone in a wrong representation of her reality and past.
Based on this, Han Ji Pyeong has been lying to Dal Mi for 18 years.
When Ji Pyeong told her : " I wrote these letters" he basically told her : "I have been lying to you for 15 years". No wonder why she just left without a word.
Also she chose Do San because she fell in love with his handsomeness and learnt to know him and love him as a person. Because it was him. The letters just brought them in the presence of each other.
I understand your point of view. Truth is Dal Mi is a blunt person regarding love matters and skinships. She knows a great deal about how to kiss. She is the one who put her hand in Do San's hand first making them official. She was not afraid to hug him or jump into his arms at their workplace. She kissed him first and it was a steamy first kiss... In Korean culture as a girl you are supposed to be more reserved on that matter.
But Dal Mi is one who takes the lead and I agree that if she decided to dump Do San and date and kiss Ji Pyeong and behave the same way with him it would have made her look like a " very open" girl and probably " a slut" for some viewers. It would have been clearly prejudiciable to her image because an heroine can be blunt but she shall not be easy and fickle.
I believe it depends on the context. Suzy was kissed by the two leads in Dream High too. But the first time she was kissed when she was emotionally weak and the second time it was her who kissed. Nothing shocking in the end anyway because she was always naturally reserved. Not in this drama. Here her character is very different.
Anyway it could have never happened. It was written from the beginning that Do San is her soul mate and Ji Pyeong would be a third wheel. I never thought one second that Dal Mi would be interested in him. She never showed anything for him. Only the people who took the fake letters for what they are not thought it could happen. It was Do San and Dal Mi all the way.
