It's pretty funny. I'm American but my wife is Filipina. We used to get The Filipino Channel and I watched dramas with her. That's why the lampoon of those shows made me laugh. I was thinking back to evil Celestina (don't recall the title of the series) stocking around in the foliage with a sniper rifle, dressed in a hot pantsuit and heels, LOL Or Daniela in Kadenang Ginto.

I think the door was left wide open for a Season 2.

,Josean Top Chef. I am not overly interested in cooking, besides the eating part :-), so the emphasis there was wasted on me. What prompted me to try this show at all was time travel and Josean court intrigue. While the treatment of time travel wasn't overly believable (LOL, if we accept that time travel is believable at all), it did serve as the vehicle to transport the FL to the bloody 16th Century. Speaking of which, the abrupt shifting of gears from mostly fluffy romance to carnage in Episode 11 was somewhat jarring. But the leads were likeable, good enough for me to finish the series. 7.5 for me.

Overall this is shaping up as an okay series with amusing parts, although it drags here and there.

But I'll stick it out to see where they eventually go with Takano. She's such an enigma. Gorgeous, poised and good humored, but from all appearances, as placid and stupid as a cow. But is she ? I suspect there's more to her than that, perhaps psychologically damaged in some way and adopting that behavior as a defense mechanism. Can't wait to see how it ends, if only Netflix would pick up the pace of releasing episodes.

For some reason she reminds me of Chancey from Being There. Absolutely clueless, but any words that comes out…
A very apt comparison ! I thought of Being There as well.

Really enjoyed this drama, a 9.5 for me. Episodic but nicely tied together by an evolving story thread. The characters and dialogue felt entirely natural to me. And Satomi, so attractive.

Damn, was Episode 1 ever corny.

And I don't get the attitude of the players. Were they delinquents who happened to be on the baseball team, or did the suspension somehow turn them rebellious ? Granted, a full team suspension was harsh (should have been just the player who committed the bat assault) but why not just wait out the six months and get on with the next season ?

And what was up with the school allowing rampant violence and vandalism ? LOL, and at least half these guys look way too old to be high schoolers. I checked this series out because I like baseball but I think it's a one and done for me.

I enjoyed this drama, a solid 8.5 for me. Very well crafted. The first episode confused me until I figured out the two plot lines were playing out some 20 years apart .

Sure, the ML should've called the police into it as soon as he suspected the child had been murdered after finding the bloody record and circumstantial evidence, but then it's not the same drama without his ambivalent behavior backfiring when Yoo Seong A returned to turn his life upside down.

It seems to me that with YSA's violently psychotic behavior, she was just over the top crazy. Again, it made for compelling drama, but somebody that far gone should have long since been institutionalized. That is, if it was an long-term behavior pattern. Yes, her father was fed up with her, but what if it wasn't ? I would have liked to seen enough back story to add more dimension to her mental state. Like the change in her artistic style and complete repudiation of her prior work (LOL, I liked her new paintings better too). What was going on there ? Never explained.

I also felt Lee Jung Eun's role was underdeveloped. Loved her in Miss Night & Day.

Title The Auditors
Excellent drama, engrossing from start to finish. Shin Cha Il, the best relentless, icy-cool bureaucratic badass since Cho Seung Woo as Huang Shi Mok in Stranger (2017). I figured he'd never crack a smile until the last episode, if that - and he did not disappoint. ;-)

12 episodes was just right without aimless filler stretching things out, although it did feel like the final episode had a quite a lot to unpack.

As for auditing, I worked for years in manufacturing supervision and audits (both internal and external) were a fact of life, particularly in the medical device industry where human health and safety is paramount. Suffice it to say that it was all a lot more mundane than portrayed in this series. But of course, without the drama there's no audience appeal. Still, I wonder to what extent Korean auditors are given such a sweeping purview. Not that questioning the realism of doing things like dangerous field work detracted from my enjoyment of the series. It's a solid 9.0/9.5 for me.

Me too. My favorite drama this year. Objectively not the greatest but I loved it just the same.

It's a 7.5 for me. I liked this drama, but not among my favorites. About halfway through I began I fast forwarding through much of the FL-ML romance scenes. The Josean - "New Josean" time travel angle was what drew me in and kept me around to the finish. And there was enough bad behavior to counterbalance the romantic fluff and so-so comedy.

I actually found the Sa Wol character more attractive than the flawlessly beautiful FL, although she really hammed it up. I don't if that was directed or an example of JYH's acting style.

Yeah she is. Her personality in this drama is so appealing too. I like these Josean-Modern time travel themes.

oh yes! I literally dropped 19th life because couldn't stand FL' style
LOL. I dropped 19th Life too, although SHS's style was the least of my problems with it. I like her natural, a bit short of perfection features, more attractive to me than fashion model flawless FL's. But yeah, I prefer seeing Asian women without dyed hair.

It's crazy how people are calling Sam Dal helpless like we really didn't see everything that she built and worked…
I see your point. But even taking into account the fickle nature of Korean social media, short of the assistant actually succeeding in suicide, the blowback from that incident seemed excessive. Sam Dal could have fought back, and the rest of her staff confirmed the actual situation. But then we wouldn't have the rationale for returning to Jeju Island.

Objectively the sudden wreckage of Sam Dal's career didn't quite work for me, but I completely get it as a plot device. It was expedient for the screenwriter, set a simple backstory then move the narrative along. Works fine for me within the overall context of the drama.

Beautiful/handsome leads, stylish, strong fantasy element, some comedy, and evil s*** we need to get to the bottom of already percolating. This drama has the right ingredients, yet thus far I'm not getting that 9.5/10 feeling about it. Anyway, just two episodes in. Let's see how it unfolds.

Yes, for me too. Well, except for the crying part of course. ;-). A couple things about PEB's performance stand out. First, I was puzzled why her Korean sounded so odd to me. Then in episode 2 when the van's navigation system voice didn't understand her speech, I got it. She's speaking with a country accent. And doing her own singing, amazingly well ! So talented.

Help... AHS had more chemistry with Rowoon than with JYB :') JYB as usual is phenomenalNot my first show from…
Yes. I had very much the same take on this drama. Loved JYB, AHS not so much. He was good as high-schooler Nam Si Hoon, but in the later KYJ role he reminded me of a sad-eyed dog watching you eat with longing (for the food) in his eyes. LOL. One of the things I really like about K-dramas is that they don't hold your hand, audiences are treated as intelligent enough to keep up. And usually I do, but in this show I felt confusion ruled, never fully got to grips with all the body changing.

And a few things were introduced then just left hanging, like the introduction of Han Jun Hee as child or the otherwise out-of-character gay interlude which seemed to be in the plot merely to stage a car crash. I stuck around to the finish for the FL and was not disappointed in that respect. 7.5 for me.

Title Tomorrow
I realize that in an episodic series, there's bound to be inconsistency. But Episode 8 struck me as really mediocre. I started fast forwarding, never a good sign. And Episode 7 was over the top (spoiler below). I'll probably watch another episode or two before deciding to finish or drop. The series is pretty maudlin, although I must admit that the Korean War vet episode did get me a little misty eyed, so I concede that Tomorrow is effective at engaging the emotions of viewers.
