I don't know if I am ready for this story. I have seen the Taiwanese AND Korean version and while it is a…
I didn't see Thai Princess Hour but I have heard it was just okay. Gosh I love Push, I want to watch all the things he is in. He is a great actor, I agree. I like Esther though so maybe this will be good. Let's just hope ^^
Never in my life did I think I would ship a girl and her phone, but when your phone is Tor Thanapob then I guess anything is possible. Seriously though, for such a short drama this was adorable. So abandon all logic and let it hit the romcom sweet spot. These two are so cute I hope one day they do a full drama together ^^
I am sorry I should have added that it isn't Chinese actors speaking Chinese that is distracting when it is dubbed, it is actors who don't really speak Chinese. Like 'Skip Beat' where some of the leads are Korean and they are dubbed over because they don't speak that much Chinese. Knowing the actors it is distracting to hear different voices coming out of their mouths. I should have made my question more clear and not general. I wanted to know if Mike was dubbed over by another persons voice or if it is his own. I am sorry I didn't mean to sound rude, I just wanted to know if Mike was dubbed by someone else like some Korean actors in China are of if he is speaking the Chinese. I took three years of Chinese in college so we learned about the different dialects, and it is very interesting. Even between my teachers throughout the three years you could hear the difference from the teacher who came from Harbin and the teacher who came from Xian. Thank you for your explanation and I hope I wasn't insulting. I am really bad at explaining what I mean sometimes and then I will re read what I said later and think 'wow that came off as rude or ignorant' and I didn't mean it that way and then I feel terrible TT.
Wow I didn't know Sean and Gypsy were dating! I thought Sean was married with kids. I liked Sean and Esther but I also liked Esther and Push a lot too (even though I had a love/hate relationship with his character Sibtis in The Handsome Cowboy.) Aom and Mike are adorable in both Full House and Kiss Me. They both sold me their roles in those shows!
I just learned that. I think someone said they are dubbed into the standard Mandarin so that it can be understood throughout all of China? It isn't really a big deal but I have started a few where the dubbing was terribly distracting. It could have been the video itself though. (I hope my comment wasn't insulting I didn't mean it like that. I am really new to dramas from China but I am enjoying the ones I have seen so far.)
Watching Cheese in the Trap really made me think that Seo Kang Joon needs to be the male lead in a drama. I loved him. I felt bad after reading the stuff that went down with Park Hae Jin and what happened during the filming. It really discombobulated the whole plot for Cheese but Seo Kang Joon honestly fixed it for me a little. That ending though was phoned in....
Amnesia is one of my most hated tropes (unless the drama is upfront with it being a plot point like 'Memory Lost'..you know going in so it is on you.) Worse then amnesia is the plot where they hit their head and it causes amnesia and then they hit it again later and it undoes the amnesia...(Pity Girl pulled this and it made me mad but for some reason Shopping King Louie did too and I was less upset O_o Guess I can't be pleased)
Also lately I have been upset with dramas that say they are romantic comedy but then literally the couple gets together in the last two minutes of the last episode (bonus irritation for the shows that not only do this but they leave the ending open, AND extra bonus for those shows that you don't understand how they fell for eachother...like Tokyo Tarareba Musume, I liked it but I have a bone to pick with it.)
One more thing that drives me nuts is the "I have to break up with you for your own safety/good" like how about you communicate and come to a mutual understanding AND then decide if its no good instead of stabbing the viewers in the heart with the sad 'final date' before the MC does something heroic and/or dumb...
That aside I still like dramas with those in it if the drama is good over all but if the drama is lacking, then that will just tank it for me.
I liked this drama. It was easy to watch and it wasn't to melodramatic. The only thing I would change would be to add more interaction between Key and Rinko. Like I understood why she liked Hayasaka, and even why she tried to make it with Ouda but I wanted to see more of her and Key. I know this drama was more about the journey, and Key helped her get there but I just felt like I needed more of their interaction together. Other than that this was a pretty easy watch, and even though I haven't read the manga it felt like a Akiko Higashimura story ^^
I really wanted to like this movie, I don't know if it was because I had just finished a drama that tore my heart out, but this movie didn't really sell me their story. I don't think it was bad, I just think that the movie felt unfocused. The main characters got a small backstory of development each and then followed the formula of misunderstanding and then learning to trust the other and then misunderstanding again. I feel like the side characters stories were more developed and the lead couple was outshined. Maybe if they had made it a short drama instead of trying to introduce plotline after plotline in a single movie then we could have seen the relationship start to grow and change between Yamato and Mei. Like I wanted to see her turn into a more confident woman and she never says she feels worthy of him. It wasn't bad but it could have been formatted better.
I liked this drama alot. There were a few questions I had that were never answered at the end and that I was kind of hoping would be addressed ( like 1.)What happened to Sakaguchi after he was abandoned at Wonderwall? Was he left with no employees at that company? 2.) Did Asahina Yoko make up the memories she shared with Toru to take advantage of his memory issue and get close to him? and 3.) Did the Personal File Program change lives and help people like Toru wanted? Like a lot of the drama was dedicated to this but did it blaze a trail like he wanted it to?) So there were a few things that I wanted to know that got left in the dust, but that aside I liked that this wasn't a typical Cinderella story like the title would suggest. People who came for a tortured or even passionate romance though were probably a little disappointed.
I really like him. I like that he can go from chilling roles like The Girl Who Sees Smells to bonkers roles like Beautiful Gong Shim. Despite its not so great reviews I also loved him in Unemployed Romance. He held that show together for me ^^
Chiba Yudai looks so young here! He was 25! I want to see a drama or movie where he gets the girl, I feel like I only see him as the second lead and he is adorable. That being said. This movie wasn't groundbreaking ( I didn't read the manga and I could still predict it) but it was solid and I think it hit all the sweet spots. The lead actor really sold his character to me, and I actually cried. I think this would have made a better drama but the movie was still great ^^
Is it better than Boys over flowers? I didn't like BOF that much :/ That guy was a jerk.
I watched this one first, and couldn't finish the Korean version. He starts as a jerk because he is a spoiled rich kid and no one ever stood up to him, but he eventually turns into a human. Honestly I think Matsumoto Jun was very good as Domyouji. This drama was the reason I started watching dramas ^^
addition: I feel like I should warn you because no one warned me, but there is a scene where the girl is held down and it seems she will be sexually assaulted. She isn't but it is still there and I think it should come with a warning. I hate that sort of thing in these shows TT
Some remakes are great!! I really like alot of the Thai remakes of shows, like Kiss Me was the best iteration of Playful Kiss for me. Also I really liked the Korean version of Fated to Love You and can't wait to see the Thai version. That being said...America , we need to STOP trying to remake Asian dramas, for real. Did you know that there was a an American version of Boys Over Flowers called Boys Before Friends, it was seriously laughably bad. Netflix is also doing a version of Death Note *shudder* I think the problem is that we tend to add sex and violence among other things into these shows, and most of the stuff we add is the reason I don't watch American television and really enjoy Asian dramas instead.
