I've had the novel in my to read list for over a year, probably even longer but honestly I couldn't get into it. So I can't compare the novel and drama XL. But I will say I trust Tan Jianci's judgement and how he wanted to portray XL.

Rewatched ep 34 and honestly that's the first time I cried. I can't get over the dungeon fight and XY's words to XL.
I cried for the man who gained his freedom. And XY's sweet words to him. I know we won't see him anymore but I wish he does see the ocean.
And I just loved loved loved when XY told XL she wished she was the one to have saved him. His expression was flawless. To know there's someone out there that cares for you. But the worst part is he can't reciprocate it. I think if he had opened up to her, she would have fallen for him even though she had originally said he's not the type of man to be in a girl's dream. Or maybe it's me being delusional but it don't matter, I still believe they are soulmates that met at the wrong timing.
I'm excited for go east to eventually finish filming and airing. I saw somewhere that apparently after that drama…
