I’m sorry but Dowager Jin and her Emperor son are Usurpers! She burned the Eastern Palace killing the Crown Prince and Princess, Imprisoned and killed late Prince Ding who was called to protect the throne (what if she even killed the late emperor?).
Mo Jing Li was also kidnapped by her and kept captive for over 3 years in a small room… She created the Villain he is and I hope he kills her before he dies…. I support his mission to take the throne his father & mother was killed for but heck yeah… call him rebel and a traitor!

I think it's grief! It seems to start when Prince Ding's family is vindicated... The grief is for the cruel faith both brothers suffered.... including their relatives and the Heiyuan Army!

I'm looking forward to understanding the connection between Prince Ding's family and Ye Li's mother. There seems to be a lot more history there than we've been shown so far, and I feel like it could explain many of the events unfolding now.
The late prince entrusted the edict to her for safekeeping, but it seems her power-hungry husband snatched it away and handed it straight to the Dowager Empress. Then, she is poisoned by her own in-laws and cast out.
At this point, Ye Li's blood debt is massive, and a lot of it traces back to Prince Ding. In a way, she's inherited his enemies and grudges as well.
It's like she has "a list"... it reminds me of Arya Stark's list of names in Game of Thrones.
So far, Ye Li's list looks something like this: - The Dowager Empress - Dowager Consort Qin - The Marquis - That Lu guy (already burned to a crisp) - Her father - Possibly her stepmother and the entire Ye family - Mo Jing Li
Honestly, I feel bad for Mo Jing Li. He was basically powerless and just a child, around 12–14 years old, when all of this happened. I would have loved it if they had made him an ally of Prince Ding's household and helped him reclaim the throne that was rightfully his. Instead, it seems they're setting him up to become a villain, which likely means a tragic ending awaits him.
I just finished this drama, and I cried so hard in 38-39! The ending was definitely rushed... I expected Ye Xian…
Btw.. did anyone notice that Lian and Lan just got married.. I could tell only by their outfits and wondered if I missed a scene or episode. Lian's status could have been implied but Lan surely deserved a wedding scene, for sure!
