That's why I'm so bitter to this day about Stranger. I have many opinions about who should have been the culprit.

I just meant that his two popular dramas are slice of life / romance dramas. I couldn't get into them so I really want this drama to be a nice detective.

I think the antagonist will be flirting with the main character but there will be no real romance in this drama.

Tomoya is the current it-man of J-entertainment. I really want this drama to be great cause I want to watch something with him but romance is not my genre.

I always wanted to watch a classic buddy cop show but could never bring myself to start (considering they are all American and made way back in 80ies). This drama is not a buddy cop show but it has this confrontation between the main character and the inspector Muroi at its core that I feel I'm watching exactly what I wanted.

I also can't believe BG aimed to create the same conflict between Eguchi Yosuke's and Kimutaku's characters! They failed so bad!

That's true. For me personally the comedy and the simple plot make the drama a comfort watch during this times. But it sure is nowhere near serious detectives case-wise.

Can you tell me more about Ancient Detectives? Is it a new drama? I'm a bit wary of costume detectives due to bad impression from Sleuth of Ming Dynasty.

I'm at ep 17. I successfuly erased ep 13-14 from my memory. The cases are getting more ridiculous but not intolerably so. Several jokes still make me laugh out loud. The fanservice of all kinds is getting too obvious though.

Don't lose hope, she gets less annoying with time (early episodes are a peak of her being annoying). And while there is romance it's easily avoidable (the romantic scenes are a bit heavy-handed so they are easy to spot and to skip).

Actually, there are number of scenes where she's written completely fine. These scenes give one strenght to power through the rest.

Has it really finished airing? I thought only 22 episodes came out so far.

I'm currently at episode 16 and the quality of the writing dropped significantly. So I'm very curious whether it gets better in the second half of the show.

Currently, my biggest struggle is the way the mafia is treated as wuxia alliance or something and not as criminals that they are. My hope for the ending is that all three characters cut their ties with the mafia (which is especially important if LY and BY marry). Perhaps, LY's most important mission in the story is to get BY and QC away from Green Dragon Gang.

Yes, I agree, people have different perspectives. There are plenty of reasons to enjoy the romance and to like BY. But to claim that everyone who does not do that is only motivated by their biases is a bit unfair, I think.

If one were to rewrite this story by focusing on LY and BY only, I think, there would still be plenty of reasons to be dissatisfied with the romance and BY.

I also wish BY's acting cute to get away with stuff was punished in the same way LY's acting cute does. In ep 13 he got thrown into jail his acting cute notwithstanding, while BY get attention, apologies, and papaya soup.
