Not being interested in romance I decided to watch it. The start was good but from ep. 12 I have witnessed a series of absurd stupidities. I read that the Novel is not good and the scriptwriters have not been able to improve it. Well I agree! An FL that thinks it's smart and only messes up everything, an ML that helps solve her trouble relegated as a side character. She continues to consider herself a pearl of intelligence when she does not understand even the most obvious things. In short, a feminist drama that does not do women a favor, on the contrary .... The most absurd thing is to see an uneducated country girl suddenly become a noblewoman who knows how to move within the Capital π
I like murder and mistery dramas. This is ok. Quite simple without going too deep in human evil, not the best, like "Ripe Town" for example, but enjoyable. Sometimes I get tired of how many times they incense the FL. I find that she often acts without thinking and gets into trouble and the ML has to run left and right to save her. Historically it is not accurate, after all it is a rom-com, autopsies without a mask or gown, modern female ideologies of freedom when immediately afterwards she wants to control the life of her man. What I have struggled to bear is the FL's hypocrisy about the law that brings justice. In times like those when 70% of the officers were corrupt and protected the powerful, talking about justice is naΓ―ve. The poor end up in prison tortured while the bad ones die or commit suicide without too much suffering. Sometimes I would have preferred them to solve the crime without denouncing the culprit (see theater crew episode)
Let's say that to appreciate it you have to turn off your brain a little but it's okay to spend a few hours without thinking too much.π
Currently it's not so bad. This is a murder and mystery genre where until the last moment you wonder who the real culprit is. It's pretty raw and not the classic fluffy romance, it perfectly depicts the culture of the old times. The actors are good and the cinematography is interesting. The fights were also good, although few. No abuse of slow motion and the close combat is believable. Definitely different from the usual dramas.
I'm on ep. 8. They simply chopped everything. Destroyed the original story and Han Li growth and character depth,…
Yep, this is the reason. About women, they decided to present them all simultaneously to save time messing up the timeline and the reason for their existence π
Live action is made by the same team making donghua (and novelβs author is involved too).
I know, I read the comments π and actually I know what MDL drama viewers want. Readers of the novel and watchers of donghua are trying to save this live action because they love the story as much as I do, but in China has only a 6.9 in Douban and it shows that the adaptation was not very appreciated
they can't put everything in the drama. 200 eps to 30, ofc they gonna cut a lot. they also said they would add…
I know, the story is long but they changed the Key points. Zhang and Li reduced as side characters, no explanation about his cultivation that seems very easy. Everything is superficial. Would have been better if they had taken the time to present the beginning as it should instead of watching him take a bath or Zhang cook. The old Mo is whitewashed, he never cared about Han Li and Han Li never remember him smiling with warmth like a good Masterπ I'm in ep 13 and trying hard to like it. I think is better start with ep. 10 for those who like the Donghua π
Nope, they chopped everything up and missed important moments by changing the depth and intelligence of the character…
Maybe the term rom-com is not perfect but it gives the idea. Zhang and Li have been completely modified, his strong bond with them has become almost non-existent as we often see FLs circling around for no real reason. The background comic music is totally out of place like the romantic-like one. Is forced to make it attractive to the public who loves rom-coms. What I find frustrating is that there are thousands of rom-coms, at least this novel could have done it seriously like "Nirvana in fire" for example

Zhang was not his childhood friend and he was not so "stupid", Li Fei Yu was not the character who rejected him but one of his comrades, old Mo was not kind but an old bastard, they literally created another story by cutting the roots of his deep friendship with Zhang and LI. I call this a huge change since it was the first impact with the world of cultivation and his personal growth and attitude. Everything has been compressed and whitewashed
