I'm watching the donghua, which I love, and in my opinion MC is the closest to reality of many donghuas, he helps real friends and also annoying and unknown FLs who use him for their purposes not caring about putting him in danger of life. Obviously he is not stupid and he does not do it for free unlike other donghua where they throw themselves into the fire without thinking just because they are "heroes" 🤣
MDL has put this one in the "romance" genre but Novel and donghua have no romance at all. The story focuses on friendship, MC growth, cultivation and fightings.
There are already tons of romantic dramas and only a few about friendship and lonely MCs. I have already noticed that Zhang Tie, his best friend and a very important character in the development of the story, is not even listed among the MLs (let's not talk about the fact that the actor doesn't fit Zhang Tie character). I just see a lot of actresses as FLs who have a few peripheral appearances in the original story.
Honestly, at the first signs of useless romance or childish arrogant girls I will give up this drama and continue watching the donghua which is spectacular.

I agree. Donghua is much more logical and linear. Zero romance and more focused on character evolution, fights and politics. In the drama they eliminated important characters, turned Yin Luo Xia into a woman, while in the donghua she is a man and only later Baili discovers that it is Yue Yao pretending to be a man.
Episode 3, I know there will be changes in the future but at the moment I can't stand the fact that a judge (Ga On) is so naive and can't see what's happening. The ending closes many questions in a logical and complete way but leaves out two (you'll understand later what I'm talking about). Honestly, the ending didn't disappoint me, I was already prepared given the dark atmosphere and knowing GJM's works. When you finish it you can read PeachBlossomGoddess's review which explains very well why this ending is perfect.
