I'm on ep. 8. They simply chopped everything. Destroyed the original story and Han Li growth and character depth, cut the bond with his friends and put a bunch of FLs around him. I'm totally disappointed with this Live Action.

Nope, they chopped everything up and missed important moments by changing the depth and intelligence of the character Han Li, the bond with his friends and the root of his attitude in favor of non-existent comic reliefs in the Donghua version, it's not an adaptation it's another story.
They simply transformed a Male-centric Plot in the usual stupid rom-com for girls, disappointed

Watching RMJTI's Donghua for a long time and I've been waiting for this Live Action well aware they would not totally respect the Plot, but .... can anyone tell me if it improves?
Currently I'm in Ep. 8 and as you often read in Novels "I'm screaming in rage" at how they destroyed the original. They literally chopped and cut the initial Arc. They cut the origins of his friendship with Zhang Tie and Li Fei Yu changing they characters in something else, cut the entrance test that shows his intelligence, made old Mo a candid old man when in fact he is a total bastard. All of this only to drag the useless Arc of the Mo residence for an entire episode and a half inserting meaningless comic reliefs to the point of even changing Han Li's character and his attitude .
Now they have also chopped the entrance to Maple Creek, inserted non-existent comic reliefs and modified Han Li in a always smiling and cheerful guy destroying the depth of his character and his future choices and let's not talk about the bunch of FLs forcibly inserted in the first 8 episodes.
Frustrating.
I know that the Donghua Team has been working on the Live Action and I'm appalled at what they're doing.
Sorry for my rant but this is not RMJTI, it's totally another story.
As a Donghua lover will it get better or worse?

Donghua is made with real capture 3D. Amazing!
The first season is obviously not comparable in quality with the latest in terms of CGI but it doesn't matter, the story is exceptional.
Try only to look at an episode of the fourth season on YouTube and you will understand what I'm talking about.
The characters seem real

I feel you. Ep 3 and I'm already annoyed.
I've seen the whole Donghua and there are too many important differences with the original story:
- Wu Geng is an arrogant and spoiled teenager prince (more young than A Gou) who considers his people as idiots (he himself gouged out A Gou's eye), he is against his father for the decision to rebel against the immortals and only after the body exchange and the mine arc begins its personal growth and self-criticism.
Bai Cai is a kind and weak girl, she is not high-spirited and fierce as in the drama and above all you almost never see her (only in the mine arch she is almost always present)
Romance is implied and almost non-existent.
The writers have turned everything upside down only for the actors and fans, it is obvious that everyone sees only in black and white or with pink glasses, no one likes gray areas or reality even with a story as dark as this.
I hope in the future it doesn't get worse or I'll drop it and keep the donghua version 😂

This one deserve a 10/10. The dynamic between the leads is the best so far, on pair with "The Double", they never loose focus on their goals and finally I don't have to bear a puppy lovesick idiot as ML. Better then some high production dramas

Lol I also love BL one of my favorite Actresses, unfortunately often the scripts are not up to the actors 😅

I read a discussion that explains the differences between the drama and the Novel.
I have to say that the novel seems better and more focused on Fan Yue than Bai Shuo, there is much more depth in the characters and Bai Shuo is not so powerful and good.
I enjoyed the story but unfortunately in the drama there were too many Plot holes and cheesy moments. I understand this was made for Bai Lu to shine (I love Bai Lu) but sadly they changed too much of the story.

Ep 33 and no improvement. I love the Actors but the script and the direction destroyed a good story, everything is just "Too Much". Over dramatic scenes, plot holes, childish and repetitive dialogues, dragging scenes in favor of the OST, over praising of the FL and so on.
I'm trying hard to finish it just out of respect for the actors but sadly it's hard to sustain the excesses in this drama.

Wow! It would have been great if they had stick to the novel, even if many people do not want to see the reality of those times and realistic behaviors. 😉
Today, unfortunately, everything has to be represented through pink glasses and sappy moments.
The Novel definitely has a lot more nuances and gray areas than what I'm looking at in the drama.
