Yeah that's why this show is so good, it's similar to Mr Bean where a lot of the comedy can come from not even saying anything, just from the body language and facial expressions lol.

I hope you have watched Season 1 by now, it's such a rewatchable show.

I know exactly what you mean. It's kind of like The IT Crowd, it's almost offensive what they writers think of as "geeks"

But still a fun show.

7.5 is a good to great rating.

5 ok, 6 decent, 7 good, 8 great, 9 amazing, 10 masterpiece.

Popularity doesn't mean overall quality. I loved this show and I know why it's popular, but I can judge it fairly, for example the main character cries way too much, they exagerate his otaku behaviour until the point that it becomes offensive to real otakus lol. But overall it's a very unique feeling show with a lot of heart, so we can ignore a lot of those flaws.

8.6 is an amazing score, it's just that this website has crazy fans that rate everything a 9 and a 10 so your perspective of 8.6 becomes warped.

Reality is if everyone used the full scale this website would have way lower scores on average for a lot of shows, full scale would be more like: 5 is ok, 6 is decent, 7 is good, 8 is great, 9 is amazing, 10 is masterpiece.
But a lot of people auto rate 10 because it has romance with their favourite korean idol, so a lot of hidden gems are harder to find due to this, especially from Jdrama etc

When it comes to a show like this which has a focus on dark themes, it's not for everyone's taste, so when you considerthat, 8.6 is great, especially when you think about the full range of different peole voting.

8.1 is a great score. It's just that this website automatically gives kdrama a rating buff, they rate everything a 9 and a 10, so it makes 8.1 feel worse than it is. 8.1 means a great score, 9 is amazing, 10 is masterpeice.

I think boths sides of the extreme can be bad, people that instantly defend and people that instantly accuse. The best most healthy way is to let things pan out and judge fairly after a year or so when the dust settles, using logic and no emotions or attachment.

I doubt it has anything to do with being outdated. It's just really weird by default, so not for everyone.

The Japanese one feels more like a comedy because the writer for that show does really good banter type conversations.

Lol what, this is not a horror movie. There's no horror in the tags.... It's more of a coming of age movie.

If you want horror, watch Ring, Pulse, Cure or Audition etc

Something to be aware of, 90s dramas often feel newer than 00s dramas, not sure about 2010s dramas though. But yeah 90s dramas were more down to earth while mid 00s dramas were extra cringe (usually on purpose lol)

Also I think it's not just kpop/Kdrama extremists, I think in general people these days just cannot handle different opinions. I mean politics is a great example lol.

In the past we would just agree to disagree casually and move on to another conversation. Now if someone disagree even slightly they become the ultimate enemy lol. Then if you are someone who doesn't really have a strong opinion either way, both sides of the extreme will hate you for not choosing a "side" lol.

Yeah Jackie chan usually has a great balance of serious and comedy. I get what you mean when things take themselves too serious, it leaves more room for you to judge the story more "seriously"

Yeah I would say I prefer wuxia over xianxia, like you said I prefer the bit more grounded feeling.

Well I don't think it's much of anything to get upset over imo, since she's 19, and the grandmother comes from a time where it would have been the most normal thing in the world for a 25 year old man with a stable job and house to marry a 19 year old woman that's looking for a stable man to provide.

Of course it's the modern day now, but you have to judge people by their generation too, not in some black and white way.

And it's not like it's a forced marriage, she's just making casual silly remarks, the general relationship between them otherwise just felt naturally friendly more than anything. (at surface lol)

So yeah I can understand why it annoys you, but I can also understand and judge things based on culture, generation difference and the most important part "intent". The grandmother has good intentions.

What was bad about it? I haven't watched it, but if you mean the floating around etc, that's on purpose because characters in wuxia defy the laws of our world, they are more like super humans.
